Networks is better. Speed is double of what I got from fido if that matters. |
^ same here. 2 lines 10+ years with fido. Telus coverage in West is better than rogers. Plus bundle services, will get more discount. Screw fido /Rogers |
So I switched over to Koodo yesterday... I live in the middle of Richmond... and much to my surprise, Telus/Bell/Koodo get almost zero signal in and around my apartment building! I remember it being like that 7 years ago when I moved in... apparently nothing has changed! Fuck. Not sure what to do now. Was on Freedom and previously with Fido and they both work fine at my place. |
In my experience Telus service is not as good as Rogers imo. Around the Kamloops area there are huge regions of zero Telus coverage and as 68 style says, even in the heart of delta and surrey I’ve run into complexes where customers of Telus cannot get signal within their apartment/townhouse complex. And that’s with Telus..can only imagine some of the other carriers |

If you didn’t lock into contract you have the option of trying to switch to Rogers or Fido as today is the last day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Saying one company gets better signal than the other really depends where you are most of the time. At my girlfriend's old townhouse in Coquitlam I'd barely get a signal with Rogers and she had no issues with Telus. In Langley at my friend's house I'd always lose LTE and couldn't browse anything with Rogers, so find out who's coverage is best where to spend the majority of the time and stick with them. |

I will say so far that Koodo seems faster than my old Fido line. Everything is faster than my Freedom service was. |
Took an hour off work at 9:30 to head to Brentwood mall. Walked around London Drugs before all the shops opened up, got first in line and I feel sorry for the gal working there all alone. 20 minutes and I'm done. 3 people in line behind me when I got to the counter, about 20 there when I left. Stewie - 1 Line up - 0 Back to work by 10:45 |
Took me an hour today, line up was out the door. Lots of existing customers in the line up upset that they couldn't get through on the phone. They were all turned away lol |

Went to BB Mobile Metro to switch from koodo($48 mb/SK plan) to Telus 10gb plan. Got the confirmation email that my account is active. However my Telus sim card still isn't active yet, my koodo sim card is still active... The manager thinks it's the Telus servers getting overwhelmed and just lagging in the transition. Been about 1.5hrs now... Telus sim still not working yet. |
its not just about staying w/ thr respective providers. grass is always greener. fido use to give me $5 discount for having multiple lines, they took it away this year, and i have telus internet. so i get $5 for multiple lines w/ telus. and $3 off for multiple services, per service. Plus i go on the island so often, noticed fido service is shitty near ferry terminals and in the middle etc. that said. rogers/fido/telus had huge lines at lougheed ,, bell not so much. Bell (company i have worked for in the past) will come out as loser in all this/ many negative stories in the news lately, personally they have old think and slow to change, + not so much on customer satisfaction. |
Is Bell big back east or something because I know very few people that have them as a provider |

I walked into the pepper wireless fido store on Brodway and Cambie on Friday at 11am. it was like a red head convention in there...not a damn soul in sight. Walked in to the wireless wave in guildford mall around 6pm to switch my wife over and they had 4 agents and we were in line for like 5 minutes, and the whole thing was done in like 15. why did everybody wait until monday/tuesday? |
I wonder if this is a one time thing or if this is the start of real competition in cell phone pricing in Canada? |
Unless Freedom does something like unlimited data I doubt we'll see anything for quite awhile. They'll be looking for ways to make back money after all the people that switched this past weekend. |
Just curious, but do Rogers/Fido/Telus/Koodo offer callback service? After dialing *611 on Bell on Saturday, all I had to do was press a button for them to call me back, and then did after 30 mins. I was able to switch my wife's MTM plan within 15 minutes from just the normal service rep. No waiting, no lining up, no need to be transferred to a retention rep. |

But due to the 10gb, callback takes longer than usual |

Rogers offered it but stopped it during the madness for the $60 plan Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
One thing I like about Rogers is the Wifi calling, if you dont have reception in your suite, Wifi calling changes that. |
^^ But Rogers customer service still stinks. Still remember when i was switching to Fido around 10 years ago I specifially ask the rep how much I have to pay. So I pay that amount and next month I got a bill for over a hundred dollars. Basically I call back the CSR on the other end saw the notes but claims that agent was mistaken and he can't do nothing. It seems like whatever they said doesn't really mean anything at all. Fido was good but over the past few years is getting pretty bad as well. Let's hope bell is at least better. |
