I'm not suggesting that people don't help or get involved, but there are just too many risks people don't want to take given the outcomes of peoples good intentions.

There is a problem with supafamous' commenting that: "I hope he died and when Trump dies we should celebrate it the same way Iraqis celebrated the death of Saddam."
That is an example of a proselytizer who engages in pretty hostile and extremist views. He has a lack of self-awareness. No rational/sane person would write something like that. It is a disgusting comment, full stop.

A start would be holding social media companies accountable for the algorithms it promotes. It’s rage bait for everyone because it garners clicks and I would say it’s easy to determine it’s the single largest factor in the division in the west.

I agree.
Also, freedom of speech doesn’t mean freedom from accountability. Social media companies profit from outrage and division because that’s what their algorithms push. At some point there have to be limits on how far they can exploit that under the banner of free speech because otherwise the cycle of rage bait keeps fuelling itself. The end result is people taking out their anger in real life.

I read stories of a few people holding a perpetrator till the police come ... brave. I mean guy could have a knife, gun, etc. But the victim, if there is anything that can be done, call 911, be with person until paramedics police come, that's human decency, I think.

In other news. Last year China bought 12 billion in Soy beans from the US. This year zero. After trumps first tariff war China diversified. They spend a ton of money in Brazil and Africa. Now American farmers are fkd. The US produces 40% more produce than it needs.

Lost in the noise of America's continued descent into chaos and facism was the death of James Dobson a few weeks ago - a Christian Evangelical who advocated that parents should beat their children into submission. He sold VHS videos of an interview he had with Ted Bundy where Bundy blamed porn for his problems for $25. He condemned homosexuality and advocated for conversion therapies that included starvation, shackling, beatings and exorcisms.
He destroyed tens of thousands of families through his work. Quote:
JAMES DOBSON, 89, died this week after a long battle with children. He was defined by an unshakable belief that godly parents, governments, and churches could eradicate unacceptable kinds of people with the tactical application of beatings and shame. He leaves behind the destruction of families in the service of conformity to his personal vision of society.
...
Dobson’s own psychology was frankly sick. Near the beginning of “Dare to Discipline,” he writes:
[Spankings] should be anticipated as important events, because they provide the opportunity to say something to the child that cannot be said at other times. It is not necessary to beat the child into submission; a little bit of pain goes a long way for a young child. However, the spanking should be of sufficient magnitude to cause the child to cry genuinely. After the emotional ventilation, the child will often want to crumple to the breast of his parent, and he should be welcomed with open, warm, loving arms. At that moment you can talk heart to heart. You can tell him how much you love him, and how important he is to you.
He was also happy to suggest more advanced ways to produce subservience:
The parent should have some means of making the child want to cooperate, other than simply obeying because he was told to do so. For those who can think of no such device, I will suggest one: there is a muscle, lying snugly against the base of the neck. Anatomy books list it as the trapezius muscle, and when firmly squeezed, it sends little messengers to the brain saying, "This hurts; avoid recurrence at all costs." The pain is only temporary; it can cause no damage.

Action will be taken against foreigners in the United States who are considered to be “praising, rationalizing, or making light of” Charlie Kirk’s death, a top state department official has said.
A state department spokesperson said: “This administration does not believe that the United States should grant visas to persons whose presence in our country does not align with US national security interests.” | Looks Like Canadians celebrating Kirks death will be banned from the US. Cheers, | So people who think canada should become the 51st state should be banned from entering Canada? Because becoming the 51st state would be the death of Canada.

trump asked all the Koreans who where arrested at the battery plant to stay. Only one said yes Even trump knows it was a big fuck up. https://dailyboulder.com/hundreds-of...offer-to-stay/ Quote:
According to South Korean officials, Trump privately offered the workers a deal: remain in the U.S. to help train American staff. The offer was made quietly, behind the scenes, and even delayed a chartered flight meant to take them back to Seoul..

What happened to the first amendment and free speech? Last I checked celebrating someone’s assassination, while very offensive, is still protected speech.
It’ll be interesting to see if anyone actually gets charged because it would almost certainly end up before the Supreme Court. Quote:
Florida Watching What Teachers Say About Charlie Kirk
September 11, 2025 at 5:07 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 99 Comments
State officials said they are keeping a close eye on how Florida teachers react to the killing of Charlie Kirk by pledging to investigate and punish any “vile, sanctionable” behavior from educators, Politico reports.

Republican Pledges to ‘Cancel’ Those Who Mocked Kirk
September 11, 2025 at 4:46 pm EDT By Taegan Goddard 238 Comments
Rep. Clay Higgins (R-LA) vowed to use “congressional authority” to “cancel” anyone who celebrated the assassination of conservative activist Charlie Kirk.
Said Higgins: “I’m going to lean forward in this fight, demanding that big tech have zero tolerance for violent political hate content, the user to be banned from ALL PLATFORMS FOREVER.”
He added: “I’m also going after their business licenses and permitting, their businesses will be blacklisted aggressively, they should be kicked from every school, and their drivers licenses should be revoked.”
