CTE can be a result of any impact not just direct contact to the head. These same guys who were the fighters etc and are in these articles and releases also typically played a far more physical game, getting in on the forecheck etc compound that with the fighting and not fully recovering in between was a recipe for disaster.

Montreal going for team midget with Drouin, Domi and Gallagher

slicrick 06-16-2018 09:45 AM

I understand the Habs are such a disaster there was going to be inevitable changes, but trading Galchenyuk who's scored 30 goals in a season (15-16) for Domi who's 36 goals in his entire career (222 GP) doesn't seem like a good move. There's only a year difference in age, more contract control in Domi. Both needed a change of scenery but nonetheless seems like pretty poor value for Montreal, if Arizona actually plays him as a center it could be a steal for them

FWIW Domi still finished with a respectable 45 points

^ ........ Coach trusts him at the end of the game defensively?

7 years later. Still hurts but not as bad as before. Hopefully it'll happen once in our lifetimes FeelsBadMan

Trotz out in Washington ... apparently, contract automatically triggered a $300K raise for 2 more years of extension if he won the Cup, making his salary $1.8M/yr. Not enough so he resigned.

C'mon Washington, you couldn't pony up some more ... ??!! Way to blow up a good team.

highfive 06-18-2018 01:21 PM

Wait.. that employee who took the copy of newspaper before it was destroyed be fired or sued for taking property of the company?

68style 06-18-2018 02:02 PM

Trotz wanted more money? $2 mill a year isn’t enough for an above average coach in the NHL... had no idea even those salaries had gotten so high... I guess Toronto really did the coaching world a favour with Babcock’s ridiculous signing... and then watched him piss off Matthews and Marner all year lol

Trotz's salary would have been $1.8m (I know, close enough to $2m) but when any joe player gets $2M/yr ... you think the coach should be making at least more than your bottom 6. I think $3-4m/yr for a Cup winning coach is about right.

roastpuff 06-18-2018 02:40 PM

On top end, Q is getting about $6m, while Babcock is at $6.25m as the highest paid coach.

Ch28 06-18-2018 02:56 PM

Wouldn't be surprised if Trotz ended up on Long Island.

highfive 06-18-2018 04:12 PM

I think Willie D made more than Trotz?
