Outside of Karlson (who I feel is overrated)

They are all over 200lb and over 6’0

Doughty, Hedman, Burns, Keith, OEL, Subban, Weber, etc

Not one of those players is under those stats.

He looks like he can skate very well, but size is moreso being able to play that physical game to create separation and prevent injury.

I think he’s closer to an Ehroff than a Burns

highfive 06-23-2018 06:56 AM

Kid can grow to 6’ and bulk to 200. He’s not that far off.

The game is more about speed and skill now than just pure physical.

Canucks draft another Dman
Jett Woo out of Moose Jaw

Hondaracer 06-23-2018 07:40 AM

take the Asian dman.. cause theres so many successful asian players in the league.. lol fuck..

Bode Wilde wasnt the better pick there?..

of course the commentary on Woo right off the bat "He may look small, but he doesnt play small!"

jesus christ man..

murd0c 06-23-2018 07:43 AM

6’ 200lbs isn’t that small for his age

murd0c 06-23-2018 07:46 AM

It’s pretty amazing how many D have been drafted all ready.

Holy fuck man. Is don cherry your dad or something? Like big guys. Discriminate asians. Euros are prob too soft for your taste too?

I don’t care where they’re from. If they can play hockey and help the team win, it’s a good pick.

Hondaracer 06-23-2018 07:53 AM

Taking an Asian player is like taking an Indian player, there are like zero successful players lol.. i'm not biased, you're just playing numbers..

the NBA has more successful asian players in their league and they have what, 2? lol it's playing the averages.

I know this talk about it's not a big lumbering league etc. but look who just won the cup, that was a BIG washington team.

Jujhar Khaira and Matt Dumba are of Indian and Asian descent and they've been solid players for their teams so far

Picking the Asian was to appeal to the market you dummy!

Bouncing Bettys 06-23-2018 09:20 AM

Does Manny Malhotra count for successful Indian players?

68style 06-23-2018 09:24 AM

What is Jett Woo’s background anyway? He looks native... and he’s a big boy... he was 6’ And 201lbs at 17! Not a fat 201 either by the looks of it, no extra on his chin or face

Grandparents moved to Winnipeg from China. I'm pretty sure his dad is Chinese and his mom is German, his dad played in the WHL and then for the university of Winnipeg.

His Grandparents opened Marigolds Chinese restaurant in Winnipeg which is the most popular chinese chain restaurant as well lol

murd0c 06-23-2018 09:47 AM

Shit Hamilton, Ferland and Adam Fox to The Canes and Lindholm and Hannifin to Calgary

Bode Wilde had a lot of character issues and his stock dropped because of it. Some rumours that he applied to 2 colleges and then dropped out or something like that. Stuff like that gives teams a red flag because it shows he lacks committment.

Quinn Hughes was consistently ranked as the best skater in this draft. Combine that with his elite level puck handling and hockey IQ and he will easily skate and play the puck without taking huge hits. Look at guys like Stecher, MSL, Gaudreau, Zuccarello, Kane etc.

Hughes looks small but he has 20 pounds on Gaudreau and he's consistently one of the best players in the league. This isn't 1980s hookem and slam em hockey. The new NHL is based on hockey IQ and speed, and Hughes is one of the best in this entire draft for those qualities

Hondaracer 06-23-2018 11:24 AM

a winger doesnt get pounded game in game out like a stay at home dman does though

i'll give him the benefit out the doubt, we shall see!

sonick 06-23-2018 11:32 AM

Krug, Spurgeon, Ellis.

The game has changed.

It's always a benefit to have a player that can move the puck out and generate offense starting from the back end. They're not meant to play like stay-at-home Dmen.

highfive 06-23-2018 01:40 PM

His sister is worth every second round pick!
