Still early... he’s playing with Petey. It was like Cowan playing with the Sedins. Playing with someone as good as petey, you’ll look good no matter what. But still, I do feel like they need a big body on Peteys line to make space

XplicitLuder 12-13-2018 10:53 AM

maybe im just naïve or uninformed, but does it really matter where leivo plays considering who we gave up ? (I mean, who did we give up again lol? )

68style 12-13-2018 02:41 PM

I personally wonder about the team dynamic though, Leivo being someone new to the team who is unproven in the NHL and he gets a top 3 spot with your 2 best scorers and PP1 time right off the bat? I’d get it if he was Tavares or something, but that’s gotta rub a few of the guys who been working hard all season doing everything the coaches ask the wrong way.

Like if your work hired an outsider for a higher position and didn’t really consider anyone internally... that dude (or girl) better have some pretty amazing credentials or everyone is going to be pissed.

Kilinim 12-13-2018 03:43 PM

I predict Leivo gets traded. Why not increase his value by putting him on the top line? Pump up his stats by playing pp1, let him shine, then get max value out of him in a trade.

Beagle with a shorty! Who knew..

spoon.ek9 12-13-2018 06:44 PM

CANUCKS SO GOOD hahahah

I was not expecting that come back at all! good on them to keep pushing

Jmac 12-13-2018 06:44 PM

Boeser and Bo tie it up late in the 3rd!

spoon.ek9 12-13-2018 06:52 PM

Lost it in OT but a well deserved point. Character building loss I'd say.

Thooomas 12-13-2018 07:04 PM

Where's MG1 anthem review?!!

Sorry for the late response, just been hella busy (this is my first weekend off in like a month).

Updated:
Canucks w/ Edler: 12-7-2 (61.9 P%, 101-point pace). 66 GF, 57 GA (3.14 GF/G, 2.71 GA/G)

Canucks w/o Edler: 4-9-2 (33.3 P%, 55-point pace). 43 GF, 59 GA (2.87 GF/G, 3.93 GA/G)

Canucks w/ Boeser: 13-8-2 (60.9 P%, 100-point pace). 76 GF, 68 GA (3.30 GF/G, 2.96 GA/G)

Canucks w/o Boeser: 3-8-2 (30.8 P%, 50-point pace). 33 GF, 48 GA (2.54 GF/G, 3.69 GA/G)

It should be noted that 2 of the 13 games Boeser was out, Edler was in and they won both of those games. Also, in 4 of the 15 games that Edler was out, Boeser was in and they won 3 of those 4 games.

In any case, you can see a clear trend when top players on this team are out. They go from a clear playoff team to a bottom feeder with one or two key players out. Demonstrates the complete lack of depth in this lineup.

Also, the fact that people are still calling for Edler and Tanev to be traded is :fulloffuck: to me. If anything, if the Canucks added another top 6 forward and another top 4 dman, they could be a legit playoff team ... this year.

^or above average goaltending..... i still have no confidence in Markstrom or Nilsson. Seems like they are only competent in net for a week or 2 then they play like shit for the rest of the month.

Agreed. Will just have to wait until next year for Demko to be ready. Maybe DiPietro as well...

is EP40 a better "goal scorer" than Boeser?

EP40 is a better playmaker than Boeser. Petey has the soft hands and high hockey IQ to make passes to set up Brock and other linemates for goals.

Boeser has a quicker release on his wrist shot and snap shot compared to Pettersson. Pure sniper. He generates a tremendous amount of power on his shots. :gun: Goalies like Jake Allen compare Boeser's wrist shot to Tarasenko's shot.

EP40 also has great power on his shots such as his big wind up like Gretzky on his slapshot.

Hondaracer 12-17-2018 08:37 AM

Problem with Boeser (like almost all goal scorers) is he can be streaky and for the last month or so hes been missing the net a lot. May be just rust in getting back but just seems like EP got that constant precision and consistency

68style 12-17-2018 08:54 AM

Boeser definitely has a heavier shot, but recently a lot of his goals have been pretty dam lucky... against Allen off the glass... against Lyon from the blue line I don’t know what that was... and last night just overpowered the goalie and trickled through. I disagree with the above poster, I think Boeser’s release is a lot slower, he has a heavy shot but not as accurate. He can’t pick corners like Pettersson can.

Just my opinion, but Boeser is the better goal scorer, you don’t see Pettersson driving to the net without the puck looking for rebounds, however Boeser’s all around game is weaker... Boeser makes way more bonehead plays or off the mark passes and can’t stickhandle nearly as well...

On that last point... Boeser is the bigger body...

Hondaracer 12-17-2018 10:02 AM

always like dat bigger body :gay:

as 68 mentioned, a lot of brocks goals have been weird/lucky goals. you gotta be good to be lucky but it would be nice to see some real snipes etc.

pastarocket 12-17-2018 10:09 AM

Boeser is a streaky goal scorer. No question about it.

I do think his shot accuracy is better than what most people think.

Here is a good example. Carey Price's positioning on Brock's shot could not have been any better. Price still got beaten on this shot.

-too much time and space given to Boeser for his accurate wrist shot on this goal. What a sniper. :awwyeah:

blkgsr 12-17-2018 11:10 AM

what's even better was the no look pass from Daniel

AzNightmare 12-17-2018 12:21 PM

Have you noticed when EP shoots, his follow through goes really high.

Not sure if there's a different technique he's using in his shots. It just looks like he whips it hard with deadly accuracy.
