Found this interesting... chart for Schenn compared to Gudbranson... Schenn is buried in the minors and considered a bust but Gudbranson plays 20 a game??? Look at how horrible Gudbranson's breakout stats are... mostly due to the fact he ices it half the time he gets possession.

Jmac 01-17-2019 09:58 AM

Gudbranson’s chart is missing a lot of games. He has half the data of Schenn despite being an NHL regular the entire period.

Liquid_o2 01-17-2019 10:19 AM

42 games tracked is enough to make a strong assumption on a player based on nearly 700 minutes of data.

I did notice that, but I think it's safe to say the player doesn't have wild swings in those categories year to year and what you see there is pretty much what you are getting? They're just looking at Gudbranson right now... whereas Schenn doesn't have any NHL data this year.

Why did the Canucks call up Kero this morning? I thought we moved MDZ cuz we needed a roster spot for Pettersson to come back?

*edit* I guess Horvat really get hurt on that Kassian check.... shieeetttt.... and they still made him chase McDavid through the neutral zone in OT knowing that???

We don’t know that it’s not from when he was playing with a broken wrist.

Not saying Gudbranson is good, just saying the chart isn’t necessarily accurate due to 75% of data missing.

Schenn also entered the league at the worst time possible. He was pretty much labeled as a gritty, stay at home defenseman. He was never touted as being a good skater, so GMs took him based on how the NHL was at the time. It was a big bodied, typical Boston Bruins style of hockey. He put up respectable numbers for the Leafs the first few seasons, but his downfall came once the league shifted to a fast paced, quick skating environment.

Schenn entered the league in 2008; the Kings won the cup in 2014 with a bunch of gritty, stay at home defensemen.

Schenn was falling out of favour with coaches, GMs, and fans well before 2014.

Still doesn't mean that the fact the league changed from a big bodied league into a smaller, quick skating and faster paced game.

Same as Griffin Reinhart. I remember a few days before that draft, I was talking with a friend of mine who worked for the Oilers (on the media side) at the time. I asked about Reinhart and why he was rated so high. He said teams valued his size... ridiculous for someone who was picked 4th overall. Same as Gudbranson. All these guys are dinosaurs and won't be able to keep up with the speed of the game moving forward.

If the Canucks could keep Edler and pawn off Gudbranson I would be soooo happy. Hell, I wish they would have kept Del Zotto for the rest of the season and got rid of Gudbranson.

Biggest issue is when it matters in the playoffs, it depends on the NHL calls the game. Will it be as fast paced?

Speed always matter. It's just bonus if we have size as well. Look at the capitals, they're not a small team but they're fast.

Demko time!

good to see Petey back but more importantly, I was real happy to see BoHo get a goal! He (and many others) have been working so hard to produce. Chance after chance, good to see one finally go in for him.

I was at the game against the Panthers btw! The love for Luuuu is still real. Kind of funny and odd to see our fans cheer for the opposing team's goalie lol.

I'm sure I'll end up going to another game or more this season. It's a fun team to watch and ticket prices are great for us real fans.

I was thinking Markstrom was fighting back a little tear that whole game “They never chant my name.... “ hahaha

highfive 01-21-2019 12:03 PM

I really wonder what McDavid is thinking about Edmonton right now.

Traded Eberle for Strome.

Traded Strome for Spooner

Spooner on waivers.

This plus the Reinhart trade...lol

Mike Oxbig 01-21-2019 12:05 PM

Reinhart trade for the draft pick that got Barzal LOL

Will we cliam Rattie? so he can play with sven again and coach by TG

Oilers are such a joke Jesus..like watching the game they are relying on mcdavid to snipe top corners in like a 2x2 hole in order to simply compete in a game lol

We chanted "Marky! Marky! Marky!" a few times at the game but nowhere near as many chants as there was for Luu.
