Might be unpopular opinion but I think having the Orca logo in retro colors like the revised shoulder patch would be sick |
Can anyone explain why we still have the orca? The Canucks management are not called Orca Bay anymore, that was a John McCaw thing... we're literally the only team in the league I can think of where our logo and mascot have absolutely nothing to do with our team name. Boston Bruins... Bruins are a type of bear... Calgary Flames... the C is on fire... Ducks... Sharks... Panthers... Senators... every damn team the logo and name correspond except for ours. There's nothing in common between a "Canuck" and a whale. |
Most people, especially in the tourism industry, associate the orca with Vancouver. It has been a part of the team for over 20 years. If the NHL had expanded into Vancouver more recently, instead of when they did, it is very likely would not have been named the Canucks. |
I would love to see the flying skate in the current colours. Blue green and silver. |
I wish they'd just switched to the Johnny Canuck logging guy, there were a lot of good designs for that in recent years... I feel like this sort of "lack of identity" is one of many things that culminates into dragging the franchise down... It's a bit of a pickle I will say... cuz Johnny Canuck is a war-time thing originally and maybe that doesn't send the best message in today's world... but the aviator goggles on flying cap logo they had at one point out there isn't all that different than, say, the Golden Knights knight silhouette. |

All one has to do is look at what the Seattle team has been bouncing around as names. Some gems in here, like the Kraken, the Totems, the Whales, the Emeralds, the Sockeyes, and the Cougars. Such gay! https://www.si.com/nhl/2018/12/04/se...keyes-rainiers I think that if the Canucks came into the league today, we could have some fun with their name. How about the Vancouver Launderers? Or the Vancouver Gangbangers? The Big Circle Hockey Club? Or simply sell the naming rights and call them the Telus Huawais, brought to you by Burger King? :lol |
The orca is our logo. It’s the logo that has been used continuously the longest, and, imo the New Jersey sans 2010 “Vancouver” marketing looks great Imo you keep it at this point just for continuity. Nothing says a joke of a franchise like constantly changing your primary logo. |

I am big on the Evergreens as Seattle's name: - Washington's nickname is "The Evergreen State" - it's a resilient green plant which holds its colour through all sorts of weather all year long. Plenty of sports symbolism could come from that. - it's not trendy or gimicky like some of the other names - I imagine nothing would piss off Evergreen State College students more than being indirectly associated with a corporate contact sport rife with "white privilege" |
I think Evergreens is a pretty good name too |
