On the replay, obviously wasn’t malicious and was just an unfortunate series of events. Similar to the play that led to a 5-minute major against NYR when Roussel was injured. Looked bad in real-time, not so bad on the replay. |
that's exactly it, and i hope other people realize this. EVERYONE gets cross checked after a faceoff. it was a freak accident and the refs made the call based on the injury. Think about how many times we had injured players and the refs didn't call SHIT. |

Vegas blew a 3-1 series lead, a 3-0 game 7 3rd period lead, and lost in game 7 overtime. Playoffs are about killer instinct and perseverance. Vegas didn’t have either. |
Vegas this year blew it harder than the Leafs in 2013. Was hoping San Jose would win. I want Thornton to win a cup. |

That call had everything to do with game management and absolutely nothing to do with the mild crosscheck. If no penalty was called the rest of the game would've gone to a shit show considering how nasty the whole series went. |
yes, i absolutely give the sharks credit for scoring all those goals but if there were no 5 min major the knights were very much poised to win the game with ~10 mins left in the third at 3-0. sharks were dead in the water prior to that. |

The Sharks scored so quickly that the Knights couldn't respond. While the Knights panicked, the Sharks rallied and built upon the momentun off of the first goal. Then they scored again bringing the game to within 1 goal. This is where panic sets in for Vegas. Once the Sharks got the second goal, I knew the 3rd was coming. What I didn't expect was for the Knights to tie it up late. Much respect to both teams for playing their hearts out. But the right team won. Vegas' fan base has no concept of the grind as they've been blessed from day one. Consider that Columbus has been in the league for 18 years and this is their first playoff success, and you see just how good the Knights have it. |

At the end of the day, calls are never going to be perfect and it will go both ways over the course of a long series. Composure is what cost Vegas the game. Not the penalty in itself. Instead of focusing on killing it off, they were too busy having their thoughts wrapped up on an unfair call. There's a reason why 4 goals in a 5min PP was unheard of up until that point. Teams kill off penalties all the time, even sequential back to back ones. It's really no excuse to pin it on a "bad" call. A focused team would have weathered the storm. And props to Vegas to battle back again to get that tying goal. The score was even. 20 extra minutes, 5 on 5 play. SJ scored first. What's left to complain about? |
That was one of the best games I've seen in recent memory. Tons of people online complaining about the penalty, yes it was not the greatest call but scoring 4 goals in 5 minutes is unheard of. It's not like the refs suited up and scored for San Jose. |
lol, Caps up 2-0 and blew the lead. Game ends in 3-3 tie. We're going to another Game 7 OT. |
Washington was so sloppy with the puck at 3-1 and 3-2, I’m surprised it took Carolina as long as they did to tie it. Carolina’s forecheck is causing Washington all kinds of problems. |
Williams comes up clutch again |
The Official 2018/2019 Canucks & NHL Thread Mr game 7, Justin Williams, sets up the OT winner! Clutch! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Holy shit Justin Williams is a straight up clutch player Not surprised Canes won that one, Caps were playing not to lose in both OT. No sense of urgency whatsoever |
Mr. Game 7 strikes again! |
Williams’ playoff results are legendary. It’s great he can turn it up but I wonder what his stats would be like if he gave it that “extra 10%” each game every game throughout his career. As it stands he’ll likely go down as the most clutch playoff performer in NHL history to date but I don’t think he’s had a HHOF career. Wonder if he’ll be thinking about that “what if” down the road.. he clearly has it in him it’s not a fluke with that track record. |
That Powerplay was one of the most pathetic things I've ever seen in OT. Refs basically gift bag that one for them. It was the exact same puck-over-the-glass play that Washington didn't get called for in the 1st OT. And Washington had 0 shots and no urgency whatsoever. Not only no scoring chance, but not even momentum was generated from that PP. |
another good game to watch! we've been pretty damn blessed in this first round. and yes, you could tell carolina was going to be the one to score. so much offensive zone time, it was inevitable. |
Trotz has taken the Islanders further than Washington and Tavares! And Rod Brind'amour has taken Carolina further than Jeff Peters in Calgary. |
Wow, the NHL apologized to George Mphee for the officiating in game 7. Also: Referees Dan O’Halloran and Eric Furlatt, who called Game 7 between #VGK and #sjsharks$, did not advance to Round 2. It’s the first time in more than a decade that O’Halloran has missed the Conference Final, according to @ScoutingTheRefs. |

well.... this doesn't help the knights, it's the aftermath of what's being confirmed as a bad call. |
