That is one of the reasons why there is video review in the league. The game is so fast that it is easy for refs to miss something. Use the tools available so that they can get the whole picture of a play. Remove the guesswork for the refs.

but supposedly, if they miss the initial call, then they can't go back to it
thats the fucked up part

spoon.ek9 05-15-2019 09:55 PM

you mean like how they missed what happened to Pavelski but called a 5 min major after the fact? :lol

Infiniti 05-16-2019 06:33 AM

NHL reffing is a joke these days

Razor Ramon HG 05-16-2019 07:54 AM

The NHL wants Joe Thornton to win a cup

whitev70r 05-16-2019 07:54 AM

NYI swept Pens and then got swept by Hurricanes. (Apparently, never happened before)

Hurricanes swept NYI and now are on the verge of being swept by Boston.

What a wild NHL playoffs !

MG1 05-16-2019 09:29 AM

Lol at sportscaster on News 1130. “Boston hasn’t won the Stanley cup since 2013!” Wut? The fucking VanHoover Canucks have never won it and its been 50 years and counting.

spoon.ek9 05-16-2019 10:02 AM

let's hope the "sweep to get swept" trend continues into the finals :troll:

He's wrong on that for sure, since the Bruins won it in 2011.
In 2013 they lost in the finals to the Blackhawks. That was the year the Bruins beat the Leafs in spectacular fashion.

whitev70r 05-16-2019 11:28 AM

AV is back behind the bench for Philly ... good for him. Hired Michel Therrien and Mike Yeo as Assistants ... pretty strong team.

spoon.ek9 05-16-2019 06:38 PM

goodbye carolina :(

Actually, he said 'the last time they went to the finals'............ my bad.

In which case, the Cannots, went there twice........

AzNightmare 05-16-2019 10:52 PM

Kind of depressing. Boston wins the cup in 2011, make it to the finals 2 more times after. And Canucks still have nothing to show for since 2011.

:okay:

They didn't miss that... That thought they saw an incident that looked a lot worse than it really was (in hindsight). But they couldn't take back the call.

punkwax 05-16-2019 11:16 PM

^ potato potato. They missed what actually happened and called the penalty based on the aftermath/resulting injury.

SJ catching some good breaks for sure.

becuz IIHF rule book does state that the referees can call for video review, OR the video goal judge can as well

i believe an example of the IIHF rule was played out during the women's world championship final between USA and Finland.

But in the NHL.. thats just bullshit... and I get that the sharks are "unlucky" over the years

The women's final had goaltender interference, which is reviewable.

Under the IIHF and NHL rules, Meier batting the puck to another player vs directly into the net is different since one is reviewable and the other is not.

They won the Presidents' Trophy in 2012, division title in 2013.

The crazy thing to me is that Boston still has even one core player left in 2019 from the 2011 team, let alone the fact they still have FOUR of them in Bergeron, Krecji, Marchand and Chara. Heck, even Rask was around in 2011 despite the fact he wasn't playing. So call it FIVE then! Amazing.

How the hell do the same core group of players go to the Finals 3 of the last 8 years (which is an eternity in a NHL players life nowadays with salary caps being what they are)... that's some great management over there.

Nevermind the fact they still have so many star players after giving away all-star players of Blake Wheeler and Tyler Seguin's calibre for basically nothing in return (no one they got back from either deal is playing for them anymore).

It really puts an exclamation point on how shit awful Canucks management has been over the years.

Although who would've saw Marchand evolve into a legitimate superstar and Bergeron still so effective at 33 years old. Things definitely worked out very well for them.

I don't know if that's better or worse, cause they got bounced out in 1st round both years, without putting up much of a fight.

And still lackluster compared what Boston has done, appearing in the finals twice.
Yes, I am being salty.

JesseBlue 05-18-2019 10:50 AM

nhl is praying that the finals will be sharks vs bruins with Jumbo Joe lifting up the cup then retiring. story book.

spoon.ek9 05-19-2019 10:16 AM

praying or nudging them along...?

honestly, at this point i just want someone to beat the fucking bruins

AzNightmare 05-19-2019 04:43 PM

damn, SJ has their back's against the wall again.

Not saying anything will happen, but I'll be lying if I'm not waiting for another controversial moment to turn the series around.

...or maybe SJ already used their luck for this round on the missed hand pass in game 3.

spoon.ek9 05-19-2019 05:30 PM

i missed the entire game today. can anyone describe what happened to pavelski, hertl and karlsson?
