I usually only smell it when I'm driving behind someone with a cat. If your in a cat that's catless you hardly smell anything since your always moving or windows up lol.

Just because you don't sit behind your own car while driving doesn't mean others don't have to smell your shit.

You should sit in your car for an hour with the windows up while having your exhaust fumes go into your cabin and see if you smell anything

^ aircare... though... i mean does it really work?

I'm not proud... but you know how it is.... retard the timing, methane hydrate... buy 11 month... renew for another 12.... so you get 23 month out of each air care....

the methan hydrate is so obvious that that ppx will read 0 and the tester wont give a f

then...having friends who goes to UVic or UBC-Okanagon.... yea...

I figured there would be ghetto tuned haters out there. The funny thing is it's not even me who noticed the car didn't "smell" it was a fabricator on another car that pointed it out. My exhaust isn't soot stained like those crackle tuned fgts either.

There is no doubt your car still stinks. With a low overlap cam, proper advanced timing and lean mixture you can surely minimize the smell. My car with a nasty cam stinks even leaned right out. You just can’t get full combustion at idle. I will be adding a cat the next exhaust I make (don’t legally need one due to age of vehicle). For a street driven car it just doesn’t make sense to not have a cat.

Just in -- the latest developments from PCA-CWR on the VI / noise issues. My goodness... I am loving these PCA-CWR folks more and more. Even the image of Dilawri, Open Road, and Pfaff have instantly improvement big time in my books even though I know they have every interest in getting this ridiculous situation sorted out.

https://www.facebook.com/pcacanadawe...09852169042531

TL;DR summary:

- Dilawri, Open Road, and Pfaff supplied 28 brand new and CPO vehicles for roadside noise testing
- the outdoor testing location had a relatively serene 65 dB ambient noise floor
- an experienced retired W.Van police w/ BCIT noise certification and CVSE training along with a CVSE inspector (thank you, Danny sifu!) were brought on to conduct testing

- 23/28 vehicles failed the roadside test
- 2 were disqualified from the test
- 3 passed, all of which were 4-cylindered engined vehicles with 2.0L displacement or less

PCA-CWR along with Dilawri, Open Road, and Pfaff (Canada's largest dealership groups) are asking the BC Provincial Police Services to consult with Transport Canada to safeguard and protect Canadian motorists against the unfair and deeply flawed ISO5130 noise testing procedures that are currently employed by BC police agencies by suspending their usage of ISO5130.

What standard/procedure can they use instead if that one is crap?

And did they test any of the cars indoors for a comparison?

The police would have to figure something out if they want to continue conducting road side noise testing. However, I think that would be too difficult / too much of a pain in the a$$ that it'd be much easier for them to just drop that procedure altogether.

If I were to look at the PCA-CWR outcome under a super pessimistic lens, it doesn't do diddly squat if the police still wants to pick on you for excessive noise. Currently, my interpreation of the MVA is -- police officers are entitled to sent you in for a VI if they subjectively suspect your car is louder than normal. They don't really need any objective measurements to do this. And they can always hide behind the cowardly reason that they are not experts in the subject, which is why they need to send you in to a CSVE expert to properly test this out.

civic si, golf r, m4, rdx, rs3

almost everything else was high end/exotics

they need more common products like rav4 and f150 to make it a home run

but i kinda see why given the stakeholders involved and their interests

I got my 750i tested on site that day.

it passes because it was "only" 81db

but in a serious note, anything with displacement seemed to have failed, especially anything sport / premium or the combo of both.

A used RR sport SVR was over 100db...... stock.

I'm fairly sure a normal RAM 1500 or even one of those police Charger R/Ts will fail.

I'm curious how a factory E46 M3, Z8, E9X M3, would test. As older cars typically have more displacement. I'm sure one of the dealers has a factory ones in their collection

Have no dog in this fight, just had a thought cross my mind that its interesting in the marketplace we have a shift in cars towards the two opposite extremities when it comes to sound production.

One end, hybrids and electrics are getting more and more popular and many of them are silent are close to silent.

Other end, we have exotics that have always been loud, but we have a huge shift in manufacturers putting emphasis and engineering more into downmarket cars to make them louder.

Just a thought.

We should get some chargers and f150s to see if they pass, or a Harley that will show them then get the media involved that their own police cars don't pass their testing methods

I called BS on cain when he was testing me, I had him use the meter on his f150 granted i didn't know how much he reved it but I could hear it rev vs idle and it was like 83 or 84 and trucks have higher allowable than cars.
