What’s the argument? Do you think any of these issues have improved over the last decade?

Just because something has gotten worse, doesn’t mean it’s ALL the governments fault, nor does it mean it can’t get substantially worse by going to systems and governments that are proven to do worse at these issues. An actual left leaning government will enact these policies that places like Sweden and Finland benefit from, but we don’t have one with a chance of winning, because people aren’t willing to pay the taxes for it.

1) there are too many people who dont give a fuck and wont actively vote
2) all the parties are middle of the road and more or less the same
3) the bureaucracy is so entrenched that its next to impossible to get anything done without tripping over the numerous oversight committees, special interest groups, labor unions, etc that want their say in matters.

So it is what it is... Unless everyone votes in a total nutbag shit disturber like trump, our systems are very well established.

Again, I think that’s more of a cultural thing than anything. People have no faith in the govt. either side.

Here everything is new, transit, ferries, infrastructure, it’s actually amazing. Where as in BC we are talking about cutting transit routes and eliminating handy dart.

Seeing how far apart countries like these are I legitimately think there is zero hope for Canada. Nothing is ever going to change. This trip really solidified even further my desire to move, but it’s harder than just saying it.

I will say, which I haven’t been clear about in the past. Canada, and BC/Vancouver in general, geographically there is nowhere nicer, probably on this planet. We just spend a few days going through the Norwegian Fjords and I kinda laughed because this area that’s renowned for its beauty that has people from all over the world come to, Pitt Lake, Indian Arm, hell even the Ferry from horseshoe bay to Gibsons is nicer. We/I definitely take it all for granted.

However, socially, we’re a shit hole.

Sometimes I think conservative white guys are actually feeling the internal mental racial pressure to stand up against the brownification / loss of white influence over Canadian culture... but it's 20+ years too late to even begin to push back. It's already over. Canada is going to be majority non-white if it isn't already.

Yeah, the amount of cognitive dissonance required to praise Europe's approach to homelessness and drug use and to then for him to say we need to vote Conservative is impressive.

As I've repeated ad nauseam, as voters we've chosen to not tackle the problem seriously so we get an approach that tries to sweep it under the rug b/c it's not funded to the level needed to deliver what Europe does. And, as others have noted, we're not prepared to go the other way like Singapore - with a practically authoritarian approach to civil society.
