Elden Ring will be a Souls game made by the same developer as the Souls games ;)

You can see some gameplay footage here (with the UI removed)

Don't think it will require a beast PC considering it's also on PS4. Base PS4 was getting mostly stable 30FPS during the network test. Some people actually complained that it didn't look as good as Demon Souls.

Started playing last of us last night, the remastered version actually looks great. Graphics don’t take away from it so far

Tim Budong 01-12-2022 08:28 PM

I played the remastered again just last month after I played the game when it first came out for PS3, it was mind blowing!

ALSO be sure you play the LEFT BEHIND DLC, It's crazy fun! One of the best DLC's I have ever played.
Doesn't much bridge the gap btwn the two games, but it gives you a better, more round view of Ellie.

EDIT: I play TLOU2 and found the game utterly depressing, the story writing was so bad compared to the first. I played it before when it was only 30FPS on the PS5, and I have absolutely no desire to play it again in 60FPS, tbh I gave the game away.

I didnt think the writing was bad, it's just a depressing world they are living in and the story reflected that. Definitely not a feel good type of game at all but I still enjoyed it and thought the Seattle setting was awesome.

I always wanted to play last of us knowing nothing about it. The remastered version is on sale right now but I dunno about playing a 6-7 year old game after just playing red dead and how amazing it looked/felt

Short answer 100% yes.

Longer answer the last of us 1 was one of the last games I ever played before becoming a dad a year after this game came out. I was up to that point still a hardcore gamer and thought it would never change. Well becoming a parent changes those things. I stopped gaming all together for some years because I had no time and when I did, well gaming was not at the top of the list. The last of us 2 was the only game I anticipated and kept waiting for all those years I stopped gaming all together and man I went ham on it on release date and enjoyed every second of it. It did not get me back into gaming at all it was just pure love for the franchise. Looking forward to the show now (thank you HBO) and if a 3rd comes I'll come out of retirement for that too.

so is everyone on here pretty much on team PS5? is it the hardware or titles?

i've historically been all sony (ps1,2,3,mini) but i've been reading xbox seems to have better backwards compatibility and much cheaper

If you don't have a gaming PC, XBOX is by far the better way to go. Like VERY VERY VERY far. Game Pass is that good.

But if you do, you're covered for MS games (and many others), and the console should be the PS5 to cover all the exclusives that won't be on Game Pass.

I'm actually considering getting an X when it gets slightly cheaper or more available, I hate missing out on great games that I can only hear about (Forza, Halo, etc.) and with Gamepass its almost a no brainer as well.

I'm waiting for PSNow and Plus merger, I will be all over that shit. I tried PS Now and with my connection it runs flawlessly.

Team nothing now lol but do own a Switch and PS4 (son plays)

Historically though I was PS1, 2, Xbox 360 though I did own PS3 as well, PS4.

Is backwards compatibility that crucial though? I know some people do take advantage of it but there are also people who feel who just feel they need it for the sake of needing it but then never actually use it. I know for me personally once I've gone forwarded I ain't ever going back so for all I care there could be zero backwards compatibility. That said, probably PS5 next when the time comes.

Just got the Platinum in Ghost of Tsushima, great game.

Personally I like the PlayStation exclusives more than XBox so GamePass doesn't really matter to me.

Game Pass is a lot more than just exclusives though... For instance I just beat Frost Punk which was cool though I'd never buy it. Entire Yakuza series was there... Hitman 3 is coming next week. Games of the Year for many outlets in 2020: Outer Wilds and Control are included. Also you get EA Play included, so all the EA games once they are a few months old.

MarkyMark 01-16-2022 08:41 PM

Yeah if I had a ton of time to play a bunch of different games then Game Pass sounds awesome, but I really only get about one day a week in these days so when I pick a game to play it's usually something that really interests me. Most games I like are on both systems anyways, but for the ones that aren't I tend to like what PlayStation offers more

GLOW 01-17-2022 07:44 AM

thanks for all the feedback, didn't expect all the responses :)

i don't have a gaming PC or an xbox - only "new" system i have is a switch. i was just browsing online and noticed xbox s can be had for under $400 where I hear the disc version of a ps5 is like 700-800$?

i was thinking back of the ps exclusives i played and not too many, maybe final fantasy which is no longer exclusive really...

what i like about xbox is that it did have some titles i used to play in arcade like gauntlet dark legacy and virtual on. i wouldn't mind picking up some old titles if they still ran so i can play them with my boys...i just picked up raiden v on the switch so i can play a raiden game with them

i'll probably wait for the price to drop as well... i remember when i got the switch i still had to pay another $200 on accessories and games etc so it's never just the cost of the system :lol

SkinnyPupp 01-17-2022 09:07 AM

xbox s is good if you only play at 1080p or are on a budget

Hondaracer 01-17-2022 09:20 AM

For my last like, 3-4 consoles I’ve been a 1 title buyer lol, as in, I buy the console to play 1 game I want. With the PS5 I wanted to play cyberpunk 2077 as I don’t have a PC that can run it. However, I’m still waiting on that next gen update before I do.

I’d say I’m completely satisfied with my investment even just playing red dead. I was originally leaning Xbox as I really wanted to play flight simulator, but my two other friends who I play with both play PS, so ended up here.

Gran Turismo is a title in itself that will always keep me coming back to PlayStation

So, my coworker just bought a new tv and everything, and asked me about HDMI cables, which got me curious.

I'm running a 3 year old 4K TV (Samsung NU8000), and the PS5, with what I think is HDMI 2.0 spec cable. Is there a point to getting a HDMI 2.1 cable?

Edit: Never mind, the TV doesn't have 2.1 haha. Shoot.

well i just displayed my ignorance, i thought the S was the newest but there's an X so it's closer in price to ps5 :lol

looks like i'll have to wait for the X to drop in price since i *do* have a 4k TV, albiet a crappy one. :lawl:

SkinnyPupp 01-18-2022 04:59 AM

MarkyMark 01-18-2022 05:24 AM
