tried switching over to 120hz to feel that buttery smoothness at full hd.... holy the Grass turns into blurry pixels & doesn't feel 100% polished anymore.

way i can explain it is it feels like I'm playing inside a Disney Pixar film.

GT7 doesn't do 120 fps, and the PS5 can't do variable refresh rate either; they don't fully support HDMI 2.1 yet (which IMO is insane)

Most modern games won't hit 120 FPS in native 4K, but some will use some tricks to get there. But with the PS5 not supporting VRR, I don't expect many PS5 games to bother...

Yeah, Sony dropping the ball in terms of software these days.

They advertised the Sony X900H as being 4K/120Hz compatible, but it's not without a blurry vertical mess.

Games need to be patched for it to work.

When they enable it, the PS5 will feel like a new console if the right game is being played. (Elden Ring will benefit from it massively)

I'm having doubts that the PS5 can handle 60FPS at 4K (RT Reflections) right now, I don't understand how this is an issue on next-gen consoles.

These consoles were never truly next-gen. Heck, the PS5 can't even handle full raytracing @ 60 frame in GTA 5, a decade old game :lol

I have a feeling we've pretty much reached our peak in terms of tech that can be fitted into a console machine at a viable price. The tech required for truly next gen gaming just isn't quite there yet (at an affordable price).

I wouldn't be surprised if we don't see a PS5 Pro type console with a beefed up GPU in the near future here.

$1200 GPUs in $3000 PCs can barely manage 4K 60 with Ray Tracing. I wouldn't expect a $500 console to be able to do so. People expect way too much from these things.

The GPU in these consoles is equivalent to maybe a 2070 but without the Ray Tracing hardware. So it's still a bargain - basically a $1000 PC for $500. Gamers need to set expectations properly though.

Manufacturers have been refreshing their consoles throughout their lifespan for the past couple generations, so nothing entirely new or unexpected.

That's somewhat correct, but not in this particular generation.

For one, supply issues weren't a real problem in prior generations, meaning purchasers were able to get their hands on the next generation. This current gen has had serious supply shortages, that combined with extremely lackluster game releases and longer gaming production cycles = little to no content exclusively within this current gen.

I don't think it's reasonable for Sony to do a refresh by 2024 if they can't even keep up with current demand for the base model.

Still addicted to Elden Ring, got to the end and got bored of fighting a nearly impossible boss. But I still love playing the rest of the game, so I re-rolled and am playing as a mage now.

And now I don't have to fuck around with repeating boss fights to learn their stupid attack patterns... This is by far the worst part of the game, so being able to kind of bypass it is brilliant. This lets me enjoy exploration and all the cool designs of the world and characters, and not have to worry about bad gameplay as much, or have to rely on co-op which opens you up to greifing.

So decided to play Star Wars lost order or whatever it’s called, could get it by subscribing to the Ps game pass thing for $4

So just looked at my total playtime the other day, have about 350 hours on the PS5 since I got it

98% of that RDR2 and COD Warzone.. previous gen titles.. pretty sweet next gen console..

I have been playing Hitman 2 on the Hitman 3 engine. I never realized how good this game is. im enjoying it thoroughly.

I got Elden Ring as well for super cheap, I started playing it and can see how addicting it is. I don't have the time right now for it. You need hours of playtime at a time to make any dent, maybe will continue in a few months.
