That's the Ottawa health official. Our BC one is a joke.

Tissue paper is gone city wide I hear. It's happening guys, once the panic buy sets in!

Apparently they are allowing tests at non government sites next week. You just have to pay out of pocket like any clinic visit.
Stay safe, I’m in Saitama, so not so bad.

^ maybe when donald took office. :lol

IIRC it was ~12/22/19 or so right before xmas last year, $1.65m in a day. When I started in ‘08 it was a rare occasion when we did million dollar days, maybe a dozen a year or something like that. Last year our total annual sales was something like $350m so if you wanted to do some fairly inaccurate math, you could just average that out to being 350 separate 1M days versus a decade ago or maybe 20.

I’m afraid to move and transfer. Would be bored out of my effing mind

I'm looking forward to cheap vacations in the next 1-2 years...

Im Mr. Panic guy so I need help putting all these into perspective and also why some in here, if not most, dont seem to be too worried. Am I missing some key information here or is everyone just complacent? Mind you, i have a family of 4 hence why i am also in the panic threshold.

Answering the question "why are YOU in panic mode?" may be more effective in helping you become less anxious. It's certainly wise to be aware of the situation, and what's going on in your area.

2 years ago I was certain I'd be a survivor in the apocalypse. Now with a 2 year old I'm confident I'll be the first to go. Used to never get sick, maybe one cold every 2 years, and didn't live a sanitized life either. Now I catch every damn thing that kid brings home from the snot nosed little shits at daycare. Been sick 3 times this winter.

At a meta level (as in you, your wife, your kids) you are not in serious danger of dying from this.

The threat of this is more on a wider scale, as it spreads rapidly, and makes people who are normally at risk (people with pre-existing conditions and elderly) in grave danger.

So even if you get it, it's the danger of spreading it throughout the city that makes it dangerous.

So don't panic, but be cautious.

Help me understand why people are buying 10 bags of rice, is there actually going to be a situation where there is no food on the shelves for many months?

Your link leads to an article about Patty Hejdu, the Federal Minister of Health. Ivtec-yo is referring to Dr. Bonnie Henry (Provincial Health Officer), but regardless of her current stance on the Coronavirus, jumping to the conclusion that she is an anti-vaxxer is a bit of a leap...

You're right, I didn't pick up on the reference. When he said "our health official" I assumed he meant Canada's and not specifically BC's.

Anyway, people should listen to the Federal Minister of Health.

It's the bottle water I dont understand. We have the best tasting drinking water in the world and this virus isn't going to affect our water supply.

This might sound dumb but I have never really found a real true answer from any source, but what are the start to finish symptoms of the virus? Is there a way to differentiate it from common flu/cold?

danned 02-29-2020 09:51 PM

Depending on how severe, COVID-19 has fewer symptoms than Flu. Cough, fever, and breathing problems are pretty much it.

With Flu you would have these symptoms plus more - fatigue, aching (headache, muscle aches), runny nose, sore throat etc.

Can you have both the flu and COVID simultaneously ? Seems like the only differentiation is the breathing issues but I’ve been reading that if you have trouble breathing it’s pretty severe and elongated symptom of COVID...
