750,000 = the 19% hospitalization rate of the low estimate of 10% of the population getting sick.

It doesn't seem that bad when I got inflected , went to ER and was given a bed in a few hours.

Better than people not going to the hospital because they can't afford it and still going to work because they got keep a roof over there head.

OK now think about what the wait would be like if hospitals are at 5000% capacity

Think about if 40% of Canada got this virus. Higher rates in more populated areas.

That's 15 million people

Most of them won't need hospitalization. But 19% so far have needed hospitalization.

That's 2.8 million

All at once

Canada has 57,000 hospital beds

Oh BTW 40% is the low end of the projection - it could be up to 70%

Even with RRxtar's much lower projection of 10% "we're fucked"

That's for sure. I don't want to be a douche to say the "Look at you now gayboys" and making fun of people who are actually sick.

Poor health care system + broke ass country + uneducated people by the millions... it'll create quite a stir. NY + LA + Chicago + Houston are biggest city of US, let's see how this rolls out.

U think we r better of? Think again buddy. All HA in bc are stretched. Justin is already backing away from helping provinces deal with this. Ie funding

Rallydrv 03-03-2020 06:58 AM

Hospital bed count don't do shit when u don't have support staff (or meds) to care for the patients. We can't even staff hospitals during normal time due to lack of funding and cuts.

Pending this outbreak actually happens you guys are insinuating all patients are in the hospitals at one time. Chances are infected patients come in, get loaded with fluids and are out in a couple days. Unless your the unlucky ones dying. This is also throughout the year (we don’t all get infected at once). It would still be disastrous and we are severely short beds but the way you guys are describing it makes it sound like the world is over as we know it.

I asked some friends that loaded up on TP this very question and their response was that the factories are shut down in China and it’ll only start to spread to other factories across the world. It makes sense to load up on TP because once the factories shut down, then your supply will be cut short and everyone needs to shit and wipe their ass, so I guess it’s not exactly an outrageous idea given that’s their way of thinking lol

should i start buying computer RAM? would hate to see another bubble.

What is just as dangerous as Covid 19 is the hysteria among many people.

Mass hoarding of goods is crazy!

-saw this senior buy THIRTY boxes of salt at T&T during last weekend.
The dude was also wearing gloves as he swiped all the boxes of salt into his shopping
cart.

Some indications that it may be closer to 24 days.

Actually the average hospital stay is 2 weeks according to the most recent WHO report... so yah it's pretty dire.

Don't forget everyone working at the hospital is a person too. If they're sick at the same rate the hospital is gonna be short staffed.

It will be fine coz Canada loves telling people to go home and self quarantine and only go to the hospital if your conditions worsen.

Because people like you who go to the hospital for a common flu put a terrible strain on the system.. lol

If you’re a otherwise healthy individual who contracts this and they give you meds and tell you to go home, you should do what they ask

But obviously from everything going on right now a huge portion of the population is too dumb to listen to reason and there will be a terrible strain on the system by people who think they deserve better treatment. It’s not different than clogging up the ER with bullshit like headaches or back pain etc. Shit isn’t serious enough to land you there. That’s why places like St.pauls have a bullshit screening system to actually take in patients who NEED emergency assistance, not Somone who can sit in a waiting room for 11 hours until they are told to go home.

Actually I avoid going to the hospital unless I have no choice or even seeing my family doctor. He would always be the one to call me coz I keep missing my yearly check up (could be the reason why my kidney stone is over 3cm long coz I avoided going to the doctors for years and years).

China got fucked for basically this reason, they go to the hospital for everything.

If you think St Pauls ER on friday night is bad, China is like that 24/7/365

Also, Chinese thinks IV is the solution for all illnesses and antibiotics galore.

SkinnyPupp 03-03-2020 03:24 PM

Read this thread to give you an idea of how poorly prepared we are for this

Also everyone WILL be getting this at practically the same time. There's probably a few thousand in Washington as of now, and that will double every week.

Manic! 03-03-2020 04:15 PM

Costco Nanaimo is out of TP and hand sanitizer. They are wiping down the handles of every cart that comes in.
