So now that Demko is proving he can be a #1, does Holtby become our extremely expensive backup goalie? Another GMJB anchor? I doubt Seattle is going to pick him up in the expansion draft. |
Our goalie position is still way less cap hit than most other teams, I’m fine with that move. I mean, Demko and Holtby together are 2.5 less than Markstrom’s cap hit alone. If he had brought in some no name everyone would be crying that Demko has no support. |
Demko is an RFA after this year. I wouldn't be surprised if we have 8 to 9 million tied up in our goalies next year |
I'm willing to give Holtby a bit more leeway because he's now working with Ian Clark and we know what wonders he can do to goalies. Markstrom also struggled when he first came over and now he's considered one of the top goalies in the league. Granted Marky got to work with Clark during his younger years, but there's no reason to believe that Holtby can't at least improve in the position as the season progresses. Worst case scenario is we let him go next season. Best case scenario is he plays well and Seattle either takes him during their draft or we ship him off for a pick next trade deadline. |
Holtby had that one game a few weeks ago where he looked like he was playing Clark’s style. Was always square to the puck never caught out of position etc. My worry would be with an older goalie like him even if he’s willing to learn, he might be too stuck in his ways to reinvent his style |
Well the Holtby signing was an insurance policy just incase Demko shit the bed. In the beginning of the season Demko didnt look good at all but now has found his groove. I always had my doubts about Demko, even after his performance in the playoffs but im happy that hes proving me wrong. Now if Seatlle takes Holtby in the expansion draft like everyone thinks is gonna happen then we dont have a problem. |
Had a Habs fan tell me yesterday he has a feeling Seattle may take Price Could just be wishful thinking on his part at this point though lol |

Bridge contract... it will be 2-3 years at 3-ish There’s zero chance Demko is getting Markstrom money after less than a full season at #1. Flat cap era, lots of goalie parity and being a RFA he doesn’t have much rights... we will be at 7 and change (edited) for both goalies, anything else would be a grievous error |

My bad I thought Holtby’s cap hit was 3... okay so 7.5 then It’s not bad for 2 legit goalies... Markstrom and Rittich are 9.25 together |

His $ value this year is low but next year he get's paid more way more money. That being said, I thought what Kevin Woodley said is interesting especially about Ian Clark. i do agree it is a bit of a shame to see dipietro on the taxi squad. https://www.vancouverisawesome.com/c...pietro-3530113 |

Not sure to blame JB for bad cap management and not able to grab someone cheap so Dipietro can play in Utica or AQ being cheap and didn't want to spend the money. In either case, what a waste of a top flight prospect. |
I guess it doesn't really matter, but I'm curious why tonight's game is at 8pm... definitely not to help out the EST people? Anyone know the reason? |
Only guess is Sportsnet wants to cover both Canadian games, Oilers at 5pm us at 8pm. |
Works for me, I get to watch Dynamite live first before the game FeelsAmazingMan |
Canucks all sleeping out there, except Demko of course |
This is so bad lol You guys should be happy you're missing it |
