We don't know the situation, don't believe all the rumors you hear.

Same thing happened with my NFL team, the Ravens. One guy fucked up (the strength and conditioning coach) and was an anti masker. He got covid, gave it to half the team, and they got a HUGE outbreak. Games canceled and rescheduled all throughout the week. They weren't out partying or anything, they just got fucked by the virus.

No other team got such a huge outbreak, but others were busted for breaking the rules with partying and not wearing masks. Other teams got huge fines and lost draft picks, but the team with the biggest outbreak was only fined for the one coach being an anti-masker. It's just luck sometimes.

Sports teams are a ticking timebomb; we all knew there was a good chance of this happening. Can't blame anyone until we know for sure they were negligent. You could go by the book and still get it though, lots of people have.

^ Is Whistler rumour true? If so, would that change your view?

I don't know if it's true or not. If it is and they were negligent, then yeah that would be pretty bad. They had an agreement going into the season, and broke it.

Sw0op 04-04-2021 04:35 PM

are they restricted to going to other "cities" in their home province?

i dont see anything in the return to play protocol...i thought that is only enforced if they are visitors in another province where they have to pretty much stay and park themselves in their hotel

they shut down whistler at the end of the Canucks break so it could just be bad timing

Fuck, I know people who have already caught it, survive, bounce back, and rinse and repeat the same lifestyle that lead them to get it in the first place.

The NHL, Bettman and his crew, had better make the right decision to shut the Canucks' season down now!

There is absolutely no way the team can play its remaining games. We don't have enough healthy players, and from the looks of it, no healthy coaches to support the team during the games, team practices, etc.

The players and coaching staffs' long term health must be protected.

blkgsr 04-07-2021 11:32 AM

forget the league, the canucks ownership should shut it down themselves

but knowing how greedy and corrupt they are they'd never come to that conclusion on their own.

68style 04-07-2021 12:43 PM

They can’t just shut it down, you got playoff implications and standings for other teams as well... they have to extend

Not sure what a greedy owner has to do with it though? There’s nobody attending the games.

The long term health implications for our Canucks mean much more than the playoff implications and standings for other teams. A LOT MORE.

I honestly do not care about how the other Canadian teams finish in the standings.

What if the team can't play any games for 2 to 3 months based on the team doctor's advice? Then what?

If the Canucks face that scenario, the league can use each Canadian team's winning percentage to determine which team makes the playoffs based on remaining games they play against non-Canucks teams. These are possible scenarios.

They take win % if for some reason not every team is able to play all the games this season.

Lets say the team "recovers" and continues to play, how shit will their performance be due to lingering covid after effects. This isn't just 1 or 2 players, its basically the entire team.

Time to get that first round draft pick baby.

68style 04-08-2021 11:00 AM

Just watch we will get it......... in the weakest draft in years

This is the way.

But the rate Calgary is playing, they'll likely pick higher.

That’s assuming there will be any lingering effects.

Dim Jim strikes out again. :lawl:

wreck 04-08-2021 03:19 PM

unbelievable.

Pearson is at best a mediocre skater, about to turn 29, and his production has completely flatlined over his last 45ish games once you factor out empty net points.

completely replaceable player, on a team that barely has enough cap space to sign its two star players to their second contracts, let alone improve the roster.

he was also their most tradeable asset (pending UFA, cup pedigree, no trade protection).

JB could not have played this situation any worse.
