Hahahahahhahaha fuck I’m so done with the management of this team... I supported Benning when a lot of people didn’t but handing people money and term just cuz they’re of good character is for teams that like to lose.

Literally got handed a gift with Boyd and Vessey and Hawyrluk all being good guys for 3/4 line duties and 1-2M max each and learn nothing from the mistakes of paying 3rd line (cuz that’s where Pearson will be!) guys 3+????

Oh AND we are protecting him in the expansion draft when we don’t have to.... L O L

SkinnyPupp 04-08-2021 03:23 PM

What are the arguments in favour of Pearson?

What does a 50-point forward make on average in the NHL?

Alpine 04-08-2021 03:28 PM

JB is 10 years behind. He's building a team of grinders when it's talent and speed that gets the job done now.

68style 04-08-2021 03:34 PM

So Toffoli, who makes a noticeable difference every shift, wasn't worth it at 4.25... but Pearson, who is invisible, slow and has no vision and never met a bad angle shot he didn't like taking......... but is somewhat defensively responsible... is a good idea at 3.25?

Sound logic.

That might be relevant if he was a 50pt player... he's a 40pt player at best... take away his empty net scoring and it's probably 30-35pts.

Ch28 04-08-2021 03:43 PM

GMJB is currently in year 2 of his 3 year contract extension.

Part of me feels AQ is going to ride that contract out and then bring in a new GM.

68style 04-08-2021 03:47 PM

FWIW on the cap sites, I could only find 3 regular LW players this season who are scoring at less than .5pts per game that have a cap hit of more than $2 million and all 3 of them are under $2.5.

Ouch.

TjAlmeida 04-08-2021 04:00 PM

Another 3 million dollar plug. wtf..

Trying to rebuild that Boston team that beat 10 years ago....

spoon.ek9 04-08-2021 06:23 PM

i seriously don't get it. i like pearson for what he brings but talk about over payment. you'd think JB would have learnt a damn thing from the current contracts completely strangling this team but NOPE.

They forgot that we had Tampa style team that got to the finals in the first place. We've given up our identity and spent 10 years trying to replicate Boston even though it basically one guy standing on his head that stopped us.

Obsideon 04-08-2021 07:05 PM

Sutter's contract was about to expire so DimJim needed to act swiftly to secure another bad 3rd line contract :troll:

That and the DoPS, "game management" officials, and an owner who is the chairman of the NHL Board of Governors.

Expresso 04-09-2021 07:53 AM

haha at this point is anyone really surprised? JB always does the opposite of what you expect a normal GM to do.

How many times have we passed up opportunities to reap some draft picks from our UFAs in the last 7 years now.

sonick 04-09-2021 07:57 AM

What are the odds JB gets fired this offseason?

Although I don't know what GM wants to take over the shitshow of contracts right now.

Nil.

Aquaman not putting in more money into this.

Hondaracer 04-09-2021 09:08 AM

I’m not sure they would be, but all things equal I would take Sutter again all day at that price over Pearson ffs..

This trend of giving out the max money a player could possibly get continues..

The irony. Save a few bucks not paying for JB but JB spends AQ's money on plugs and will continue to do it till JB's contract ends.

Liquid_o2 04-09-2021 11:10 AM

I'm sure Aqualini approved this re-signing. When I heard the news I almost crashed my car. GMJB couldn't make it to the summer and decide what he wanted to do? No team out there was going to give Pearson that kind of money in a flat cap year. Holy shit this team is becoming unwatchable due to the idiocy of this man. He just keeps throwing money out to role players like the cap increases 5% every year! I just don't understand how he couldn't resign TT who is a legit top 6 forward, but he throws around money at 3rd and 4th liners like its nobody's business. Let this man scout + draft and do nothing else.

RiceIntegraRS 04-09-2021 11:23 AM

We staple this guy to Bo for his entire tenure with the Canucks. We gift him empty net ice team to pad his stats. Even though he is having a down year, his trade value is as high as itll ever be because of what he did last season. Instead of trading him, we re-sign him at a premium....... inks not even dry yet and everyone knows this is a bad deal.

Fire Benning now please

Infiniti 04-09-2021 12:48 PM

Everyone stay tuned, Sutter gonna get re-signed as well.

SumAznGuy 04-09-2021 01:09 PM

Well, reports say Beagle might be done, LTIR the last year of his contract.
That frees up some money.

JB supposedly said this year, the instability with letting Tanev and Marky walk caused a lot of issues in the dressing room and we saw it on the ice in Jan. JB just didn't want to make the same mistake as last year and run out of time so it's easier to make the same mistake from 2 years ago and over pay for 3rd and 4th line players.

Jim "Loves Making Same Mistakes" Benning. Plugs on the team cost more than the star players on the team :drunk: :fulloffuck:. Fuck this team lol. He had a chance to build a contending team while the young star players were still on the cheap and he squandered it away on terrible signings.

Obsideon 04-09-2021 02:24 PM

The Canucks have achieved Herd Immunity! :drunk:

Teriyaki 04-09-2021 02:36 PM

Herd immunity to success because we sign dumb contracts?
