I wonder how he explains the economics behind fining a guy who makes tens of millions and has had many infractions in the past $5000 for ending someone's season?

A lot of people are getting caught up on the $5000 amount for the fine. Keep in mind that this is the maximum allowable fine per the CBA.

It is really on the players to change it if they don't think it is enough.

Personally, I don't think it should be a maximum dollar amount but a maximum percentage of someone's salary.

I'm definitely not defending Parros or Wilson, but those fines are a joke. That's the maximum amount allowed and that's on the NHLPA.

If they actually care about their own player safety, then should raise the maximum to be 20 games of a players salary or something, not 5k per the CBA.

Do some of you actually feel bad for the Rangers? The Rangers really didn't lose anything. A player on another team didn't get suspended. Really has nothing to do with the NYR. Did you guys forget how the NHL gifted them the 2nd overall pick Kaapo Kakko in 2019 when they had the 6th best odds and gifted them the 1st overall pick Alexis Lafreniere in 2020 when they really didn't deserve to draft them? It's almost the NHL's way of saying "hey look *wink wink*, we don't favour the New York Rangers *wink wink*

Guys seems pretty similar to Vontaze Burfict in the NFL, who has paid over $5 million in fines and has been suspended a total of 1.5 NFL seasons over his career.
