Edler knew he was gonna be a target all game and it would only boil over if he didn't take it like a man, so good on him for showing up even though he knew it was a lost cause. Just kept his chin tucked in for damage control.

Good on Simmonds for stopping once Edler was down. He could have easily thrown in a few extra ones but he just had a job to do. Probably wasn't even that personally invested against a non fighter.

I have mixed feelings about the whole fighting and code thing.
Edler got 2 games plus the game misconduct. And why would you send Simmons in to fight Edler, who's never fought before.

I'm really not a huge fan of all the fights that happen after a big hit. Player has their head down with the puck and gets steamed rolled.

But what's even worse was the other game against the Sens when Tkachuk comes in with a late hit that was going to be called for interference then Hamonic comes in and drops the gloves. Gets called for the extra 2 and a 10 and now has to sit for 17 mins yet Simmons gets nothing extra for this fight.
Where's the consistency with the refs and the league.

Even worse they said it was the same referee both games... all we ask for is consistency

^ I think it’s been said enough that the Canucks didn’t choose Virtanen over Toffoli.. Canucks were stalling Toffoli’s contract trying to land a big D man and he walked. That’s the story.

I’m still not over them prioritizing Jake over nylander when he was drafted. Still preferred nylander. Got the legendary Swedes in the Sedins to mentor nylander.

I think the whole lucic thing and why we don’t draft our bc players got to the Canucks head and organization stayed with Jake I feel.

Plus if we got rid of Jake and kept toffoli and imagine Jake scoring as much as last season, ppl be like wtf why keep the older player. Jake is gonna be Neely 2.0.
There’s no guarantee toffoli is going to score as much with us as he is with the habs.

Has Virtanen’s name ever come up for a good reason? I don’t think so...
