Edler knew he was gonna be a target all game and it would only boil over if he didn't take it like a man, so good on him for showing up even though he knew it was a lost cause. Just kept his chin tucked in for damage control.
Good on Simmonds for stopping once Edler was down. He could have easily thrown in a few extra ones but he just had a job to do. Probably wasn't even that personally invested against a non fighter. | I have mixed feelings about the whole fighting and code thing.
Edler got 2 games plus the game misconduct. And why would you send Simmons in to fight Edler, who's never fought before.
I'm really not a huge fan of all the fights that happen after a big hit. Player has their head down with the puck and gets steamed rolled.
But what's even worse was the other game against the Sens when Tkachuk comes in with a late hit that was going to be called for interference then Hamonic comes in and drops the gloves. Gets called for the extra 2 and a 10 and now has to sit for 17 mins yet Simmons gets nothing extra for this fight.
Where's the consistency with the refs and the league. |
