I don't understand why or how Benning traded Gaudette for a AHLer. We didn't shed a whole lot of salary (~200k), there's no upside and no picks coming.

We won on the Gaudette pick (5th rd) and promptly lose it on a trade.

shits coming out that Gaudette was an anti-masker which is the main reason why Covid hit the Canucks so bad. A lot of the players on the team were sick and tired of him so Benning got what he can for him since he was turning into a cancer in the room.

Well with all the rumours surrounding him and his wife i dont see it being that far-fetched. I wouldnt be surprised that his teammates are pissed at him, putting the health of themselves and there families at risk. But even if it were true, the return is still garbage, i know the Nashville Predators have inquired about him many times.

If a guy is a known problem, you're not going to get much for him. Usually if it's not a draft pick you get another guy who has been a problem for that team LUL

Well the rumour is that his wife is the one that caught it, gave it to Gaudette then the other players. And since sometimes it takes awhile for symptoms to show it was too just late to stop it. Im not entirely sure on the details but apparently his wife was very open on either twitter or a podcast on how she wasnt following covid guidelines. Which would play into the whole narrative that alot of the players want him gone cause his wife was so wreckless and Gaudette was apparently an antimasker and possibly a trump supporter(which he denied saying he doesnt follow politics enough to choose a side)

The only time where the Canucks did fuck up was when Gaudette did test positive, they still held practise which more than likely infected more players then it should have. Again this is rumours but it all just makes sense

Just to clarify we gave up a 4th round pick for Bowey and a 5th round pick. The move was done so the Canucks would have a defenceman to expose for the expansion draft.

Dont think there would be any cheap enough defencemen on waivers where they would meet the requirements to be exposed

This is not on the Canucks as they were simply following NHL COVID protocol. If anyone wants to lay blame then do so against the league.

No one seems to remember that Gaudette is on a "show us" contract and he didn't show anything this year. Can't play 3rd line center, defensive liability and was not putting up points and getting healthy scratches this season. If the rumors are true about him bringing Covid into the dressing room then that's the final straw for him to get shipped out.

They should've traded him last year when they probably could've fetched more for him. Instead, as is the case with this management group, always taking the reactive approach, never proactive.
