Hopefully Benning buyouts those stupid contracts the Canucks have to give the young core some actual help and a chance to win.

The Athletic did a deep dive into the buyouts and came to the conclusion only Virtanen made sense as a buyout, big cap relief... Holtby was a candidate too BUT significant recapture in the following year.

The rest of them it wasn’t worth it, burying them in the minors is the answer. I’m taking about Roussel and Eriksson.

I feel there will be a buyer for teams who's feeling the covid hit and maybe don't want to spend so much money but need to meet the cap floor.

Pay louie 3 mil (after the SB paid by canucks) and then have a 6 mil cap hit.

Basically void Jake's contract. Louie / Beagle retires.

The difference is most of those players traded were on LITR so they just sat as empty cap space. Loui unfortunately has been extremely durable during his tenure as a Canuck lol.

This upcoming season is essentially a write off from a roster perspective. Won't get out from under those bad contracts until after next season.

Don't forget Sutter's $4.375M contract is over now. Not sure if Canucks will give him a new offer. My guess is yes since he is a center that is important on the PK and JB loves to overpay.

This is exactly what the NHL wants, their guy even sells hats promoting it. Don't expect much of a punishment fitting for the hit.

not like that one canucks game where someone got smoked (can't remember who) and was on the ice and everyone came flying in a he pretty much got booted in the face while everyone fought on top of him....one of the stupidest scenes i've ever seen in a hockey game
