Wow...you know what as much shit as aquaman takes. He is spending the money.

Nic Petan 750/450 2 way deal.

He would get paid $450k to play in Abbotsford?

6thGear. 07-28-2021 09:57 AM

Well Hamonic was on a show me deal last season.

Hughes Hamonic
OEL Myers
Rathbone Schenn
7th D??? (I know I'm missing someone)

1 thing Aquaman can't take flack on is spending money and as much as people say he's a meddling owner he's got a right when he's opening up his cheque book.

Poolman and Juolevi

Hondaracer 07-28-2021 10:15 AM

Dunno about Poolman, seems like a typical JB move to pay a player 120% of what they are worth..

Although Schenn is kinda lumbering and slow I don’t mind the addition, a veteran bigger body

I think Schenn is back just to get Rathbone settled. Hughes already stated how much Schenn helped him when they were paired

Agreed. Guy is basically writing a blank cheque at this point with all the multi million buyouts. Can't fault him for not spending the bucks.

Benning sure is showing up to play ball this off season. Some people crumble with their job on the line, or they go into destruction mode to make their replacement look worse.

Same. Money is ok but I don't get the term?

I would've paid $1 mil more for David Savard. But then I haven't watch poolman enough to say otherwise.

We do need some grittier bigger dman to defend. Look at the habs with weber, edmondson etc...

I don't think these types of comments are taken into consideration enough when GMs make trades. Synergy is real, and sometimes you just can't replicate chemistry, even if on paper, another player is superior/better.

Poolman played 22-24minutes on WPG, so from the looks of it he has the stay at home D for the first or second pairing... hopefully he plays well with OEL or Hughes..

Durrann 07-28-2021 11:43 AM

Kings have signed Alex Edler to a 1-year deal at $3.5M

Goodbye Edlers

Maybe...guess we'll never really know

Benning stupid like a fox, has offer sheet covered

68style 07-28-2021 12:45 PM

Sigh… Benning… nothing like telling other teams to fuck you just for fun

whitev70r 07-28-2021 01:00 PM

Holtby signs with Dallas for $2M ...one year. He did well, he'll be making like $6.5M including his buyout $$!

pastarocket 07-28-2021 01:10 PM

Big raise for Brayden Point.

Eight year, 76 million US contract extension.

9.5 million per year.

I see both suter and holtby signed with Dallas. I wonder would they have more money since they're in a no tax state including their buyout money?

SumAznGuy 07-28-2021 01:46 PM

Dougie Hamilton 7 year 9M with NJD. WOW.

Biega to Toronto for 1 year league minimum.

What a crazy first day to Free agency

68style 07-28-2021 01:48 PM

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I feel with the disparity in taxation laws from place to place AND the currency differences, the salary cap should only count a form of post-tax dollars against the cap.

Vancouver, for example, literally has to pay someone 40% more than Tampa Bay would if the player was looking strictly at his bottom line (and I couldn’t fault him if that was the case to be honest).

Isn't he just stating the obvious? Not like he's going to say "We'll match offers but only to a certain point, I think Petey is kinda overrated actually"

68style 07-28-2021 01:54 PM

I liked Burke’s method better, threatening teams who might dare to offer sheet saying it would be open season on their players in return hahaha

I don't know much about what goes on between GMs, but I wonder if there's some sort of unspoken agreement not to fuck with each others' RFAs.
