So all the bad contracts that the Coyotes took on from the Canucks are over and Canucks are still stuck with OEL/Garland and team isn’t any better and in a worse cap position lol

Well, for all the assets they got over the years, they still haven't gotten any better either. Lol

Benning absolutely should have been fired before being allowed to make those trades. He sold our future in order to try and save his job. Drance talked about this before and after the trades were made. People might not like the guy, but he was bang on with the assessment. Cap hell could have been over with.

That season before we actually got OEL leading up to the deadline there was all the talk about almost getting him etc. and at the time I didn’t really know what his game was like but moreso knew of his reputation and felt some excitement about maybe getting him

I think the issue was that Arizona obviously saw he was in the decline, strung Jim along until the following season and basically got the same if not more for a return than had been offered the previous season

Benning is a complete fucking joke and it doesn’t really give any Canucks fan any satisfaction he’ll likely never get a job again given the cap hell he left us with

It also speaks volumes that the AHL guys have stepped in with his absence and don't look out of place at all. If anything, they're playing better than OEL did all season long.

so not only are the Canucks at the cap, they also have bad contracts, and they traded away draft picks to retool. They pick up UFA players, and we all know they will want a nice contract or they walk for free. Meaning maybe more overpriced players in the future.

To be fair, in the few games he got in with Tocchet before being injured, he did play better just like the rest of the team. That structure does seem to have benefited everyone.
