I havent been happy since 2011 |
This highly questionable trade of the first round protected pick from the Islanders for Hronek and a fourth rounder is a prime example of Canucks management and maybe a meddling owner who do not believe in rebuilding a team through the draft. Why the heck would they trade away a first round protected pick for a right hand shot defenceman?? That's a steep price to pay. A first round protected pick heading into a deep draft would have been a way for this franchise to do a proper rebuild. -sounds to me like Aquaman is still micro managing this team. Allvin and JR really think that they can just trade for a new right hand defenceman in order to make the playoffs next season? Hahahahhaa |
Mixed emotions for me. Not thrilled but they’re addressing the team’s top need which has been long overdue. This should also make Hughes happy. I was looking forward to two first rounders in a stacked draft though. Gah. |
Trading away a 1st round pick in a time where they should be looking for more draft picks to rebuild. This team . Yes picks aren't guaranteed to turn into anything but this is a deep draft year |
I wasn't mad.... until Chychrun got traded for a 1st and two 2nds..... |
Hronek is currently 19th in defenseman scoring with 38 pts. +8 Averages 21 minutes a game. |

There's no guarantee this draft pick is going to be for 2023 I guess... so there's at least that |
Wonder if the isles let the Canucks know they would keep it |
Penguins clearing room... |
Please let it be Miller Time ... bye. Win win for both Canucks and Miller ... who wouldn't want to play with Crosby and Malkin! |
we needed a young RHD bad, like really really bad... I guess it's good hes offensive, and good on the PK and in his own zone but still its a total WHAT THE FUCK and I'm kinda bitter about it. Maybe the Canucks are going to get the first from Pits which might make it easier to deal with now. But still I have to say again WHAT THE FUCK... |
^first from Pits would be similar value to Isles one but no clause for next year. if isles finishes at the same spot next year, value is less as the draft isn't as deep. |
The trade is a big WTF |
something's definitely going down. They just sent another $3mil down to minors |
Lol |
we just have to accept the fact that this team will never stop retooling. we will be mediocre for decades to come. |
Canucks are stuck with Boeser and Miller ... :heckno: |

JR is 74. Pettersson and Hughes likely wouldn’t stick around for a full rebuild. As much as most fans would like to see one, JR ain’t got no time for that and was hired to turn things around quickly. Like it or not, he’s playing the cards he’s been dealt. |

Petey is 24 and Hughes is 23. Drafting an 18-year-old kid doesn't help (unless it's a generational talent like Bedard which we are unlikely to get). We have so many holes that we'll need to hit the jackpot on several top 5 picks in a row to properly rebuild. But even if we hit the jackpot, by the time these kids are ready to contribute (ie. 21+) Petey and Hughes will be 28-30 (Not that they would've stayed for a rebuild anyways). The timeline to rebuild doesn't work. |

Instant reaction was wtf but as usually I had and still don't really have any idea who the fuck this guy is. Taking a step back this is essentially Bo Horvat for Beau, Aatu, and Hronek. RHD which we desperately need and stat line seems to day he's definitely a legit top 4 guy. I get the whole shit wr need to add picks but to those who pointed out are we getting rid of EP40 and Huggie Bear because even if we end up landing guys who become NHLers it's still some years away and the time-line is slightly off imo. |
