Preds players better be heavily padded, blocking all those shots must hurt.

pastarocket 04-23-2024 08:56 PM

-need the guys to keep shooting the puck. They cannot block every shot.

-gotta make those power play opportunities count!

bobbinka 04-23-2024 09:00 PM

need Hronek to just let it rip over and over and over

bobbinka 04-23-2024 11:03 PM

Myers was out with the Flu. Makes you wonder if others on the team are sick too

Gotta make these shots go through the net!

Here is my suggestion for power play adjustments.

Put Joshua in front of the net for one of the PP units. If I Remember correctly, DAKS played one game during the regular season on the power play.

Why not put Joshua on the PP unit? Big net presence to block the goalies’s view of the puck. Go for low shots so that DAKS can fight for the rebounds. He has decent offensive skill.

DAKS also has more goals than Petey or Boeser now. Give him a chance on the PP.

The blocked shots though ... NSH teaching Canucks how to play playoff style hockey!

Playoff style hockey also means being more aggressive to attack the net. Power moves to carry the puck towards the net.

Wrap around attempts.

Maybe less perimeter play and shots from the point. The power play is a bit predictable in terms of the set up schemes now.

Drive the puck towards the net.

Put more fowards in front of the net to block the goalie’s vision and go for rebounds.
One forward with the puck drives hard to the net.

they should just blast every shot as hard as they can from the point until the preds are too beat up to want to block anymore. who cares if it's on net, inflict maximum pain!

whitev70r 04-24-2024 07:12 AM

Need Tanev style hockey ... ready to block with teeth.

pastarocket 04-24-2024 07:14 AM

The shots from the point on the PP are clearly not working.

Has our team even scored a goal on the PP yet in the playoffs?

Drive the puck towards the net to get a closer shot. Forwards to crowd the net and go for rebounds.

Boeser in the bumper position in front of the net to go for shots can still be effective. Looks like the forwards are trying to forcing shots to go through even though the Preds penalty killers are blocking the shooting lanes.

^ you don't think the coaches have said that to the players? I mean, if you can figure it out ... surely Tocchett who has played playoff hockey knows, no?

Yeah, we shall we what adjustments the coaching staff make for the PP in game 3.

It’s not just Tocchet who gives input on the PP strategy. Sergei Gonchar and Adam Foote have plenty of playoff experience for power plays too.

Two road games in Nashville starting with game three on Friday. 430pm start time.

They say it's about adjustments. NSH adjusted their game 2 and won .. well, that plus Demko being out.

Now it's Canucks turn to 'adjust' ... less pressure on the road. Grab one out of the two at least and then you get home ice advantage back.

I've always said that starting a series on the road is the better option, it's not that hard to get a split.

Hondaracer 04-24-2024 07:58 AM

I think we could start hammering shots from Z and Hronek a little more, make people pay for blocking them, eventually you get a little gun shy of going down.

Of course then there’s the risk of hitting your own player..

I don’t know what the answer is.. traffic in front and creating those lanes. Would have been a different game if even one of these Petterson chances went in.

Petey kinda shit the bed but at least toward the end he showed some more drive and determination, felt kinda bad for him because a lot of those grade A chances were squarely on him to finish, but ya gotta get one of those behind Saros

Funny post about Nashville fans making fun of the maroon coloured seats at Rogers Arena.

Shots fired haha.

Time for Canucks fans on Reddit to make fun of those country hicks living in Music City, eh? LUL

https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...c34ab1a244.jpg

Lots of ignorant Canucks fans have been dismissing Nashville as a second-rate hockey fanbase that lacks passion,” a popular post titled “Is Vancouver a Poor?” on the Predators Subreddit begins.

“Come to find out, the Rogers Arena is filled with seats that mimic the interior of a 1995 Buick LeSabre that was recovered from the bottom of a rock quarry 29 years later.”

I don't know who or where these Canucks fans are that think Nashville's fans lack passion. Any one who has watched any of the games against them knows their fans are loud af and love to cheer for their team.

highfive 04-24-2024 10:25 AM

Should just put Zadorov in front of the net. He's our Chara.

68style 04-24-2024 10:53 AM

I mean... our problem is even getting shots past the FIRST guy... I don't think we need to put another 240lb guy in front of the net that the puck is already never getting to?

pastarocket 04-24-2024 11:04 AM

The goals that the Canucks scored on the Preds are either point shots OR forcing puck turnovers at the boards as a result of an aggressive forecheck.

For example, Joshua's goal in game 1 was a result of great, aggressive forecheck by Lindholm. Lindholm checked hard against the Preds' defenceman behind the net.

-created a turnover. Lindholm, got the puck to Garland. Joshua went straight to the net.

Garland with the great pass to Joshua.

This is a great example of a set play that the Canucks can do more of for 5 on 5 play or maybe on the PP.

Forwards on 5 on 5 play or PP need to be much more aggressive to get loose pucks at the boards. Turnovers create scoring opportunities as long as you have guys ready to make the pass to the forward who is front of the net.

-do not have to go for the hard slap shot from the point man in the shooting lane if there are Preds forwards blocking the lanes.

Maybe the down low play in the Preds zone of aggressive forecheck at the boards to create turnovers, and scoring chances with players in front of the net ready for the pass from a player at the boards, or behind the net would also work.

Boeser plays the bumper position on the PP now so he or Petey would be ready to get shots on net.

It's too bad that our team does not play a strong cycle game like way that the Sedins played during their prime. Play keep away with the puck and force the Preds forwards and d-men to keep chasing our players until one of our forwards is left open for a pass. A cycle game with sustained pressure in the Preds would wear down that team during the course of this series. -just a thought.

Hondaracer 04-24-2024 11:37 AM

I prefer miller on that half wall spot over Peter tbh

Problem is it kinda seems like that’s the only spot petey fits

68style 04-24-2024 12:31 PM

They should drop Petey down to PP2 at this point, he's not shooting for whatever reason and he gives off wounded deer vibes, Preds jump on him and pressure him as soon as he gets it

spoon.ek9 04-24-2024 05:55 PM

at least we can enjoy Toronto's pain tonight :)

teggy604 04-24-2024 06:07 PM

Petey just flops all over the place. It's really annoying. Like when he misses the empty net in the PP. He buckles to his knees for a second or so then gets back up. You don't even need to hit Petey and he buckles haha.

bobbinka 04-24-2024 06:57 PM

Demko is week to week...

HonestTea 04-24-2024 09:10 PM

Damn Kopitar, sealing it in OT
