Your thoughts on this article? https://www.sportsnet.ca/nhl/article...rade-deadline/ from the article: CONCLUSIONS AND TRADE DEADLINE RECOMMENDATIONS • It’s incredible how quickly the Canucks have transformed themselves into a legit contending team. It’s difficult to pinpoint any significant holes in their roster. The group could roll into the playoffs with the roster in its current form and, potentially, go on a deep run. One area the team could look to upgrade is the second-line centre position. They have room to further insulate their top nine forwards by adding another player who can be used in a variety of roles, provide secondary scoring, and win key face-offs. • The coaching staff in Vancouver has worked to instill an understanding of how they want their group to play every night and the team has rewarded them with consistent results. If and when the Canucks add to their group, they don't necessarily have to go after big names. It’s more important to acquire players who fit the description of what this version of the Vancouver Canucks identify as. A player with the same approach as Sam Lafferty, for example, but with more offensive potential. • This is a team that can contend now. The Canucks are dealing from a position of strength with some of their high-end prospects. They also have enough draft capital to spend wisely. It’s not often a team has the statistical profile and consistent results Vancouver has been enjoying. The team can certainly improve their second line centre position in terms of faceoffs. Puck possession is important in a game, especially the playoffs. Do we have enough size in our top 6 forwards? |
The non-stop chatter recently about the Canucks needing a 2nd line centre is annoying. They do not NEED to keep the Lotto line together to win. Miller can drop back down to the 2nd line on wing or centre and Petey can take over C on the top line any time and that's fixed. I can't believe that article suggesting Monahan or Henrique... lol... both are totally washed up at this point. Monotone is dumb as a rock in interviews and Henrique has been getting by on "not trying very hard" for like 5+ years now. Guentzel or Lindholm are legit, but Guentzel is WAY too expensive. Lindholm might be easier to get, he's making it obvious he won't re-sign in Calgary and they need to get something back for him not lose him for nothing. He's also playing shitty right now stats wise so his value isn't as high. |
we need a second line Centre bad and another top 6 D. If the Canucks want to make a run we need more NHL roster players that are big and can hit since the playoffs are an entire different ball game. For once I'm more than ok with them trading next years first round pick. |
I agree they could use some size, I think Greenway should be a target. He has the skill to play up lines when needed much like Joshua. You really think they can't just drop Miller down to L2? |
gotta feel a bit sorry for the hawks though, lost perry, hall, and now bedard. what a brutal season for an already horrible team. |
If only we can somehow get Guentzel for cheap...but no way that happens since the Pens are still looking to win with their core. |
it's not what we need today, it's what we need for a deep playoff run. injuries ARE going to happen. top 6 forward and another cheap D would be good. this year is the year to go all in. the entire defence and bottom 6 will get blown up next year. they're all UFA and we can't keep all of them. |

Given the choice between a 2C and another RHD, I'd take the RHD. Defense wins championships and I think our forward group is deep enough to cover for injuries. I really doubt we have enough options to bring in both. Who knows though, Allvin has been making all sorts of trades this season. We'll just have to wait and see. |

I agree. Miller is our second line Centreman. Lotto line was useless against the Leafs. Miller and Petey got point on the PP. 5v5 they didn't produce. Then last game against a crappy injured Chicago team, there should be no reason why the Lotto line didn't register a couple points. |
Pius Suter is a perfectly competent centre... 2nd line is a stretch depending what you want from your 2nd line, but the details in his game are phenomenal. I've lost count how many times I've seen him come back in the slot and pick off passes or lift a stick at the right time. I feel like if Miller dropped back to L2 and over to the wing with Suter it might be worth looking at. Let Miller be less responsible with the puck and change the offensive makeup of the line perhaps? Mikheyev can bounce to L3 and Hoglander can move up with Petey and Boeser. Just daydreaming haha Also if we wanted to add depth/size... Podkolzin has been finally putting things together again in Abby... so he's definitely an option if Tocchet can get him to buy in, that dude has a big big frame |
Podkolzin the forgotten man. He’s a great backup plan for forward depth |
I don't know how much you guys follow Abby Canucks but Podkolzin seems to be developing well; just like Hoglander did there last year. Come playoff time I'm sure he'd be on the short list of call ups for depth. Who knows, maybe he'll get a short stint towards end of season to get him up to NHL speed. |
Bought the boy an Abby Canucks jersey the other day. Sharp looking tarp. https://vanbase.ca/cdn/shop/files/Ab...4157&width=800 |
Not a fan of the Johnny Canuck logo but those secondary white strips are sharp |
Welp, here we go finally: https://www.sportingnews.com/ca/nhl/...qx5l29kuimp09g Carter Hart's recent leave of absence from the team isn't looking so good now. Lots of speculation... Dillon Dube recently went on a mental health break from the Flames too although it's possible that's unrelated. Max Comtois? Alex Fermenton? Who you guys think it will be? |

on another note, why can't they just give the people what they want? new road whites of the skate jersey! I'd instantly buy myself a Miller to add to the collection. |

How the black ones have the larger bold stripes though might help with the white sweater |
