Jim Hughson was great too, what happened to him?

He was sick of all the travel I think and quietly retired, I think also to some degree, without knowing anything insider, I always felt like he was sick of being the voice of the leafs. Always felt like he had so much more passion calling the Canucks.

I’ll give Singh credit, at first it definitely felt like the diversity hire but he’s actually come a long way, he’s pretty good now

I wish they would bring Cheech back for this run. He deserves it after having to watch such garbage hockey for the last years of his career here.

Bought tix and taking the boy and one of his buddies to the viewing party. He wants an excuse to get decked out in his merch so I think he’ll have a blast.

Heard the following on the radio today:
- only Delta (of all burbs) will be hosting official outdoor viewing parties.
- game 3 ... probably the only affordable way to watch a Canucks playoff game, they are opening up Rogers Arena for fans to watch in the arena on the big screen.

Is this good or bad?

It's meaningless. They had us winning in 2011. They compared us to previous cities who hosted Olympics and won the next year. All meaningless.

Maybe i'm just spoiled with Shorty all these years, but i find Singh super vague and sometimes he just completely stops talking, skipping entire plays, or only picking things back up at the end of the play (like his brain is still catching up to what happened). If you had to get up from your seat or look away from the TV for a moment, you'll have no idea what's happening just listening to him. Shorty will actually describe things as they unfold.

There was a thread on reddit recently where even the oilers fans were saying he's bad

yah if anything, the EA thing feels like a jinx.

The only time that I remember Singh’s commentator work for NHL games is the goal call in game 1 between the Penguins and the Sharks during the 2016 SCF.

“Bonino Bonino Bonino Bonino Bonino, Nick Bonino!!!!” :lawl:

Singh admitted later that his voice cracked when he made the call in Bonino’s goal against the Sharks.

im very happy for shorty to finally get his first Canuck playoff tv gig.

it would be one of the smartest marketing ideas they ever did lol. i'm not sure why it hasn't happened yet. it's probably some rule with the league preventing them from doing so.

We are spoiled having Hughson for a while and then Shorty. Literally cream of the crop for hockey commentators. I pull my hair out when I watch highlights for American games, Singh's better than all of them and pretty neutral.
