Huskies - For 2023, Husky Stadium had the highest average attendance in the PAC12 at 68,814. And surpassed 70,000 three times this season.

Yup, that's on-par or even higher than the Seahawks.

Americans don't fuck around with their college football.

Makar only 2 points behind. Probably factors into that a bit.

Demko is in net against the Jets. I thought that maybe Tocchet would play DeSmith to make sure that Demmer's body is 100 percent.

Hondaracer 04-18-2024 02:31 PM

Fuck like still no schedule out?

I guess it’s because Vegas can still move around in the standings?

spoon.ek9 04-18-2024 03:40 PM

I'm hearing game one will be Sunday instead of Saturday?

Tough call, they were also saying that 2 games wasn't enough action for him after his time off...

keifun 04-18-2024 04:25 PM

Any word yet of any public viewing parties in the city for the games??

unit 04-18-2024 06:25 PM

Utah is getting a team?

spoon.ek9 04-18-2024 06:28 PM

yeah the news has been all over youtube/podcasts for awhile now. nhl really only confirmed it today after months of speculation.

SkinnyPupp 04-18-2024 07:25 PM

They're saying it'll take 3-5 YEARS to move the Coyotes. And if they can get an arena, they'll stay anyway

whitev70r 04-18-2024 07:31 PM

Sale to Utah was really quick ... at least in terms of public awareness. I'm sure execs had this Plan B.

No way. So you're saying they played their "last game" and took that final class photo. Then they'll just come back and be a half walking dead team next year in no mans land? No way.

bobbinka 04-18-2024 09:09 PM

no. they're playing in Utah next season. the team is moving. it's over in arizona until a new arena is built.

“Utah” will be on the front of the jerseys of the state’s NHL team next season, owner Ryan Smith said.

The team will take its time to determine its name, logos and colors.

“It will 100 percent be ‘Utah,’ and then it will be ‘Utah Something,’ obviously,” he said. “I don’t think given this timeline that we’re going to have time -- or nor should we rush with everything else that’s going on -- to go force what that is in the next three months.”

The NHL Board of Governors voted Thursday to establish an NHL team in Utah owned by Ryan and Ashley Smith, who purchased the contracts of Arizona Coyotes executives, coaches and players. The Arizona franchise became inactive. Arizona owner Alex Meruelo can reactivate it if he builds a suitable arena within five years.

The Smiths also own the Utah Jazz of the NBA. The NHL team will play at Delta Center, home of the Jazz since 1991-92, in Salt Lake City.

Ryan Smith said the NHL team has contracted with Doubleday & Cartwright, an independent creative studio that has worked on brand identity with pro sports teams and companies like Apple and Nike.

“They’ve done so many of these identities,” he said. “They’re the best on the planet. They’re there to go run that process. I’m not going to rush them. Like, it’s really important that we’re not saying, ‘Hey, this has to be ready by the fall, especially when it’s going to be ‘Utah Something.’

“So, we’ll start with ‘Utah’ on the jersey, and we’ll figure out the logo and everything else and what it is that we are. But that’s a one-way door. You get to do it once. And with this timeline, I think both the League feels better and we feel better to just run the process, and then we’ll drop it when we drop it.”

How long will that take?

“Look, I don’t think it’s a 24-month process,” he said. “It’s a placeholder, but it’s kind of not a placeholder, because we’re going to be ‘Utah’ either way, right? We have the first part of the name. We don’t have the last.”

What is strange is the heritage and roots of the Coyotes. Commentators are tracing the Coyotes' origins to the Jets (1996) but now, there is a Jets 2.0 back in Winnipeg (in 2011 from Atlanta Thrashers). Now the 'Coyotes' goes to Utah ... they will be rebranded as a new team essentially (not using Coyotes). Confusing.

I would be so happy if LA beats the Oilers and of course the Leafs losing to Boston again would be epic.

68style 04-19-2024 07:57 AM

Even if the Canucks do nothing, I will be happy if the Leafs lose again. Yes, I happily admit to some schadenfreude on this matter.

spoon.ek9 04-19-2024 08:24 AM

watching them suffer is always entertaining. it's our "revenge" watching since forever and especially the last decade with us not making it to the dance.

68style 04-19-2024 08:28 AM

I've worked around so many damn Leafs fans... my go-to is always that they haven't won a cup since they started every year with almost a 20% chance to do so in a 6 team league lol

In fact, if I remember correctly, they also won the fewest cups of any team in the OG6 days too.

spoon.ek9 04-19-2024 08:45 AM

one of the doctors walked into emerg wearing a leafs hat. my friend said to him "ready to get swept?" and the doc almost dropped a bunch of F bombs lol.

BlackV62K2 04-19-2024 09:17 AM

Canucks bracket if they make it into R2 isn't as bad as the other half of the west. That's a killer group of teams. All tough R1 and R2 teams.

whitev70r 04-19-2024 09:22 AM

R1 always seem to be the most intense ... the hitting, the tension, the expectation, etc.
