The LC500 the most fun GT car?

AstulzerRZD 07-26-2025 07:43 AM

My money would be in an F Type or Maserati GT

HOBZ nows ur time to shine, wdu think

68style 07-26-2025 07:45 AM

I thought the LC500 was so boring***…. Like on paper I love everything about it, I love how it looks, I love how it sounds, I love the attention to detail and quality and thoughtfulness of it all.

It’s boring to drive around town…. *** And then driving Hobz’s 2 things changed that — throwing it around corners at speed on the S2S it’s way more agile than you’d ever expect and stomping on it at lower speeds and actually getting the back wheels to lose traction and get squirrelly was not a very Lexus feeling. I wish there was “more” of that somehow? If they could bottle a little bit of that theatre or raucousness and put it into other parts of the car it would be perfect.

Badhobz 07-26-2025 08:09 AM

I think the LC is pretty boring; it's not fast, it's very heavy and very isolating. However, that's perfect for its target demographic. It looks fast, and it sounds fast, and that's more important to the geezers than actually going fast. Its an epic grand tourer.

its good but it lacks a soul. it seems almost clinical in its execution.

but...

I'd still pick my Maserati over this LC. The exhaust note of the Ferrari V8 is not comparable. The Ferrari sounds like heaven's gates opening. The way it changes from a low burble to a snarl at redline is utterly soulful.
It's also way better in terms of steering and road feel. That hydraulic Ferrari rack is something else. absolute perfection.

The rest of the car is garbage though... infotainment will drive you insane, you might as well turn it off (ive had my hard drive start to fail in my maserati and couldnt upload anymore songs, guess how much they want for that hard drive?!? 5k!!! i just ripped it out of the dash, installed a new seagate hard drive myself and downloaded the partition off the maserati forum)

Seats are good (when the seat heaters dont catch fire and try to roast you alive), and the interior has a lot of usable space. you can even fit 4 people comfortably in the Gran Turismo.

The biggest problem is depreciation and keeping that damn car alive. parts are going to be expensive, it likes to eat rear tires and bushings. The buttons will be sticky, the thin ass leather used on the dash and interior will peel. The headliner might even start sagging. And for some reason coolant hoses like to go and that lousy piece of shit hose costs $700 for the part alone. Maintenance is going to be a bitch. The engine itself (as long as you dont get the earlier ones) is pretty solid along with the ZF transmission, the rest of the car will fall apart though..... uhhh except the seats. that italian leather smells, looks, feels, brand new even after 20 years. No crack, no lines, nothing. not sure what those italians use in their leathers, but take a look, all the old GT's and Quattroportes all have fanastic looking seats even after 10-20 years.

How much is it even worth? I assume parts will be hard to get cuz BMW no support.

Traum 08-01-2025 11:01 AM

So BMW doesn't have any classic BMW support program like Porsche does?

This is why those overpriced beetles don't suck, Badhobz~! :fuckyea:

These cars are garage queens already. :troll:

I'm actually looking into switching to hagerty when I renew next year, I can have an agreed value and get the truck back if it is indeed totaled.

Badhobz 08-01-2025 09:54 PM

You can get hagerty up here ?!?! I thought it’s a USA only thing.
But you still have to buy basic icbc and then all the other crap through hagerty ?

bcrdukes 08-02-2025 05:34 AM

Yes, Hagerty has been available in BC for a while. And yes, you'd have to get basic through ICBC, and everything else would be through Hagerty.

radeonboy 08-02-2025 07:09 AM

I tried getting Hagerty insurance for my V8 Camry but the Hagerty guy I spoke with basically said the car wasn't rare enough for consideration.

I didn't pursue further after that conversation and I wasn't serious enough to try again...

bcrdukes 08-02-2025 07:12 AM

Yeah, they have some interesting criteria which is sometimes quite derpy. Dime a dozen Porsches but a rare GS-F won't qualify? Okay. :derp:

Any way, I think age of vehicle plays a huge role into their consideration. They also won't insure super high value exotics, no matter how rare. You'd have to go to a specialty insurer like Chubb or something, but I don't know if they exist out in BC.

trollface 08-03-2025 04:41 PM

Im insured by Hagerty.

What are you trying to insure that they denied you? Just get agreed value with ICBC if they say no.

Cheaper to buy a not broken one. All the body parts are still available, but it wouldn't be written off if it wasn't a 50k+ hit.

Manic! 08-04-2025 01:35 PM

Could be a fun project for someone. Should be pretty easy to work on. Only $6500.

Ford Contour SVT $3800
https://www.facebook.com/share/173cm...ibextid=wwXIfr

68style 08-04-2025 09:50 PM

I’ve owned 3 SVT Contours over the years, I love them, the red/tan and green/tan combos are my least favourites and 325,000kms is a fucktonne of mileage for that car and its drivetrain. It’s either got absolute reams of paperwork or is a magical unicorn built by gods hand itself.

Doesn’t have original wheels just FYI but the rest of the car looks OEM.
