E30 M3 up for ICBC auction

Recall some chatter on here not long ago about it

https://vis.iaai.com/resizer?imageKe...640&height=480

Sold for 38k.

Badhobz 08-05-2025 03:46 PM

Woah dats nuts. Probably needs another 30-50k worth of work.

JDMDreams 08-05-2025 03:58 PM

$80000 for a rebuilt e30 :fulloffuck: that's beetle money

bcrdukes 08-05-2025 08:35 PM

Consider it a passion project. Normal people (lol) won't understand.

westopher 08-05-2025 08:49 PM

Just buy one for 70k that’s already ready to go with a clean title lol.

Traum 08-05-2025 08:51 PM

Well... considering that the alternative to a a rebuilt e30 is this $100k+ e46 M3:

https://www.autowestbmw.com/vehicles...d/bc/57010044/

I would have to say the e46 is the crazier of the two...

Badhobz 08-06-2025 04:38 AM

I don’t get why the e36 gets no love. It’s a really good amalgamation of e30 and e46.
Love the boxy look.

bcuzracecarz 08-06-2025 09:52 AM

That autowest m3 has sat and will continue to sit until the end of time at that price.

westopher 08-06-2025 11:14 AM

Other stuff they have listed is high, but not nearly that far out to lunch. I don’t know how they pulled that number out. Ones they don’t want to sell just say “a member of our collection”

jing 08-06-2025 12:53 PM

Slicktop in a cool colour might get close to that ask down south. There was a very nice local built CSL replica that sold a few years back in the $60k range, now in WA.

JDMDreams 08-06-2025 01:02 PM

Because e36 plastics and like what 240hp?

dark0821 08-06-2025 03:03 PM

because we get the shitty e36 here in North America without the S engine

westopher 08-06-2025 04:20 PM

The "not a real M car" trope is the most tired garbage. It's 50hp more than the e30 m3 and a better car by every measure other than looks/nostalgia and racing provenance. The e30 is better than literally every car in terms of racing provenance so that's no surprise. The s52 is 46hp less than the s50b30 and everything else is the same other than the headlights.

JDMDreams 08-06-2025 04:29 PM

Yes but you can get a e90 6mt for half the price, less tin can, faster? And less vintage car problems.

westopher 08-06-2025 04:36 PM

Half the price of what? An e46? Absolutely not. E90s are cool but they have WAY more problems than any of the M3s before them. Routine maintenance bills are 8 throttle actuators and rod bearings. You can’t even get one for cheaper than an e46.

underscore 08-06-2025 07:19 PM

The e90 is nowhere near as cool as the e46/36/30

Badhobz 08-07-2025 07:11 AM

dont get me wrong, i love v8's but the only v8 bmw ever made that was good was in the old e39 m5... love that motor.... not sure how they lost its character going from s62 to s65 in the e90 m3.

bcuzracecarz 08-07-2025 09:52 AM

S65 has plenty of character, it’s the issues surrounding it that have brought it down. A part of me thinks I’ll let go of the 300 and go back to an e90/92 one of these days for the noise alone

teggy604 08-07-2025 10:37 AM

V8 that redlines at 8400rpm. You probably never see that again.

RabidRat 08-07-2025 10:59 AM

The Corvette Z06 would like a word with you.

V8 that redlines at... 8600rpm!! w/ a flat-plane crank, at that.

I traded my beloved 6 speed manual 2016 F80 M3 in 2019 for a $75,000 Tesla Model 3 performance. The trade in value in 2019 of my M3 was $45,000. 5 1/2 years later my Tesla is today worth $25,000 and my 2016 M3 is today still worth close to $45,000. My wife loves the Tesla though :)

JDMDreams 08-07-2025 11:20 AM

How much gas and repairs did you save doe?

noclue 08-07-2025 12:53 PM

I thought once you replace the rod bearings the S65 V8 in the E90 is not that bad? Love that 8 individual throttle body sound.

Badhobz 08-07-2025 02:52 PM

now you fuckers make me wanna find a LCI e90 m3....

richardmozis 08-07-2025 03:20 PM

If someone is looking for a weekend toy. SL65 V12 with 45,000km. I'll have my eye on it too - Original owner is a huge plus.
