I use a hybrid from Silk & Snow, most of these ecom ones have a free trial. I would read through the stipulations of those and try them all.

Mattress reviews are so subjective so it's hard to filter out the noise. I would gather a list of feature priorities.

from what I've read, mattress companies make fake review sites, customer service for the online mattress companies are terrible and make it very difficult to even try doing a return during their free trial periods. A lot of reviews online are fake. /tinfoil hat.

Hondaracer 11-25-2024 06:53 AM

Mattresss are like shopping for insurance, the reviews do nothing to sway you

I’d say the only thing you can really control is if you buy from Costco for their return policy or if you go somewhere like sleep country where they have the guarantee

bcrdukes 11-25-2024 06:55 AM

The only confident review for mattresses I know is for Seahorse. One word: Stiff. :lol

roastpuff 11-25-2024 07:17 AM

Mattress reviews are so full of paid reviews etc it's useless.

And very difficult to get long term reviews, sure might be great for 1-2 weeks or however long their review period is for but can't really tell how it will hold up for the years to come.

its too fucking stiff. all the beds in hong kong was like that. even the grand lisboa palace in macau was super stiff and that place is suppose to be catered towards tourists (chinese tourists i guess)

yarrrghhh no thanks, i woke up sore and achy every day.

Highly recommend against going with Sleep Country for anything. Go buy a mattress anywhere else should be their real slogan.

I had purchased a $1300 matress from them years ago. Within 6-12 months, the damn thing noticeably sunk in the middle; so much so that I would almost literally roll into the middle. When I asked for a replacement, they obliged but it was also garbage that sunk in the middle once more. At that point I was fed up and asked for a refund to which they said they only give store credit. So I was basically stuck with a shit mattress and the whole experience had soured me on their products.

This damn thing wasn't one of those cheap shit mattresses either. At that price point, you'd expect that mattress to last you a good long time. In the end, I think I just lived with the damn mattress until I bought a replacement elsewhere. Which, at the time I had been introduced to some shady warehouse in Richmond selling mattresses for cash. I bought that one for $450 and it has lasted until now! Still a great mattress and about to 1/3 of the price.

So yeah, if you're going to buy something from Shit Country, better try out a bunch of potential replacements because your money isn't coming back to you once you've made that purchase. My friends have had bad experiences with them too.

Badhobz 11-25-2024 07:45 AM

wait wait wait, but they give you a replacement, and they offered you store credit, why didnt you get another mattress from a different brand ?

I got this foam sealy postrapedic one that i didnt like very much, i returned it for that tempurapedic orange and its fantastic. sleep country took care of the whole thing and it was painless.

spoon.ek9 11-25-2024 07:47 AM

After nearly 2 years of dealing with this shit I was fed up with them and didn't want to try anything else they had. This was quite a long time ago, I just didn't want to be bothered. My logic at the time was, if this thing cost me $1300 + taxes, why would anything else they have be any better? This was already "top of the line" at the time.

GLOW 11-25-2024 08:03 AM

that's interesting, i've bought 3 mattresses from them, and i think i've had good experiences from them. i went with to the grandview location in east van, but i guess it doesn't matter as it was a product issue in your case vs a sales person issue...

though they did say they would give me pucks for my 1st bed for for the wheels and never did... but i later realized i can buy pads from the dollar store so it wasn't a big deal.

but ya moving forward i would def consider costco, but with a show room floor you can lie on several mattresses for the feel if soft/medium/firm, pillow top no pillow top etc...

i use the spyder brand. takes a few minutes to get the pressure to fill the pump and lines properly but once it gets going it's pretty good. i bought it at costco so that i can pull a badhobz in 5 years and return them with a little persuasion if they break

. also for a hose, i highly recommend setting up a retractable hose reel. we just have normal hoses around the house but once i relocate the bibs to where i want them i'm definitely getting reels. nothing more annoying than hoses laying around or having to coil dirty hoses constantly.

He’s not even in the same league as me. Buys a mattress for staging the old house. Returns it after house sold. returned those rachetting ties down to amazon too.

My friend opened a mattress store a few weeks ago down in Delta to fight big mattress. You can support local business where the owner will care about your experience vs sleep country! A large handful of us order from him now, good value!

Shopsleepoasis.ca

He's a one man show named Edward, tell him Josh sent ya!

He's price-beating most competitors atm, at worst steal some mattress information from him!

He's been in the industry for awhile. Last time I needed pillows he dropped me off 5-6 to try, he's just a chill guy.

Badhobz 11-25-2024 10:13 AM

quite a niche industry. i guess he likes to lay down a lot.

JDMDreams 11-25-2024 10:24 AM

Bro you know you can just stage with like 4 moving boxes and like a piece of cardboard on top, just put a sheet over it.

You might as well swing by the Arby's while you're in that area.

I learned first hand. Look at this shit.

I confronted their parents afterwards and their realtor and forced them to pay me 1000 bucks. I said either give me a 1000 bucks for my car, or ill take it to a bodyshop and who knows what they'll find.

The parents gave in and im sure they gave those little shits a beating afterwards.

First of all, who would let their kids run amuck in an open house? why would you let them play ball in someone else's driveway?
Secondly these little shits have zero remorse.

Hondaracer 11-25-2024 11:47 AM

I can one up that :lol

So a friend was telling his condo across from Metrotown, the vast majority of people who came through were mainaldners looking for investment condos or basically a hotel for when they came to Canada

My buddy goes back to his unit after the showing and there is shit -all over- the toilet. Someone probably closed the door and squated over the toilet and shit all over the bowl, the back of the seat etc.

He got the realtor to clean it :lol
