The thing with The Maldives over the others is that it's really in the middle of fucking nowhere. The islands are all volcanic atolls, so your bungalow is built right up to the coral reef. The water is clear as a bottle of Evian and there's sea life all over the place. I could stand outside with no snorkeling gear in 3 ft deep of water and I'm surrounded by half a dozen nurse sharks, nemos, and a shit ton of other fish.
Here's a vid I took: https://youtu.be/11pYMUELr1k | "Why spend money on vacation la, you can see it on google. Use money to lease C-class la"
The thing that's amazing is that the ocean in the maldives is like bath tub temperature. Go before it sinks due to climate change. The only pain in the ass is the extreme travel time to get there. Plus cost of course.

The only person you need to meet is Badhobz. He will verbally beat the racism out of you.

Hobz, what area were you looking at in Fiji where it was half the price? Curious.
Civic, it's definitely in the 3 year plan, thought about it being a honeymoon trip. Maybe it'll get even cheaper once Maldives is under a meter of water

I'm not a climate denier but they're building resorts like crazy in the Maldives right now so for some reason the multi-national hotel chains don't think it'll be a problem at least in the short term!

Depends on the dates but it was half the price of some of these bora bora Maldives places. Seems like you get the whole bungalow experience but not the insane $$$
The places I looked at in the Maldives were 2-4k a night for overwater accommodations.
I mean yeah I can stomach that for a week, 10-20k ain’t that bad but my inner and outer Chinaman will be screaming bullshit when balljeet or whoever the fuck rolls up in his canoe to serve me my 500 dollar continental breakfast.
Doesn’t seem worth it

ive barely been on any big vacations since covid but all the way up to that point i was doing everything on the cheap.
5k was a lot for a vacation because i was always doing it backpacker style or going bike touring.
im too poor to even read about 10-20k spent in a week no matter how nice it is.

That's not the norm, or customary, remember everyone on RS balls harder than Jay-Z.

The maldives/french polynesia is one of those once in a lifetime trips to save up and splurge on. Most people dont go back again unless you are baller and/or live closer.
Flights are expensive and long travel time.
Once there you need to pay $500-800USD per person on a floatplane.
Then you're stuck at that resort so unless your resort offers board you will pay a lot of $ for meals.
But nowadays thanks to the weak CAD even a nice all-inclusive resort in the rivera maya/cancun/tulum is pushing $10K

He better, I was going to call that one out.
AIs are def not $10K per person in Cancun/PDC/Tulum right now
5 stars down there will cost you about $3-$5K per person, excluding flight.

There’s nothing on the planet I want to do less than an all inclusive resort vacation.

Started cycling this year, about once or twice a week this Summer.
Last week I rode to Bowen Island from East Van. Brought back 3 bottles of cider too, so Going up massive hills, while trying not to jostle the bottles was definitely a challenge. Guy who worked at the brewery was nice enough to give me some paper bags to cushion the bottles.
I weigh myself on and off. Weight stays relatively the same but my man boobs shrank and the Filipino coffee shop owner at my workplace told my flip coworker I was "payat"
No goal set, I just want to see my pecker when I'm looking down and not have tits bigger than the girls I work around.
Getting the munchies after a doobie does not help
