Another potential facility in the Canucks never ending search for a practice rink: PNE Agrodome. Hmmm. Article dated June 12th: https://theprovince.com/sports/hocke...-facility-list The PNE, which operates both the Agrodome and the Coliseum, confirmed that the Canucks had approached them about using the Agrodome as a practice facility. “There has been initial conversations about the Vancouver Canucks using the Agrodome as a practice venue, but these are very early discussions and there would need to be significantly more discussion around further details, including revenue generation for the PNE, as this venue is very important for the PNE and the community,” spokesperson Laura Ballance said. Last week, the Canucks’ senior brass — including Michael Doyle, Jim Rutherford, Patrik Allvin and Dax Aquilini — toured Rosemary Brown Recreation Centre in Burnaby and the Britannia Community Centre in Vancouver. The Rosemary Brown facility opened last year and does have some potential for expansion, while the Britannia complex, built in the 1970s, badly needs revitalization, but plans to do so have stalled over the past half-decade or so. Postmedia understands the Canucks have also looked at the University of B.C., where the team has rented practice ice when needed for more than a decade; Simon Fraser University, team chairman Francesco Aquilini’s alma mater; the Richmond Olympic Oval, which is close to Vancouver International Airport; and the Burnaby Lake Sports Complex, which includes the former home of Fortius Sport and Health — now known as the Christine Sinclair Community Centre, and which will feature a new ice rink and swimming pool, although those won’t be completed until 2028. Britannia Community Centre? hahah. That's near my hood. Hard pass on Britannia. That community centre badly needs to be revitalized. That centre is a dump. FeelsBadMan |
I think it's crazy to give up on the team before the season even starts. Despite the tire fire last season, the team was only 6 points from making the playoffs. Given a healthy team and a mental reset, I think a wildcard spot is definitely within reach. If some good free agents or trades pan out, maybe can even make 3rd in the division. We're not a bottom 5 team, that's for sure. |
But that's always been the problem. Not good, not bad, just mediocre and rarely make the playoffs. Middle of the pack draft picks which we then trade away. Over pay for free agents and get burned on long, shitty contracts. Then buy-out said contracts, get hemmed in my cap recapture penalties and then look at our bare cupboards thinking if our 3rd and 4th round picks can crack the lineup. Now, I'll give them credit, our d-core looks good and there's now a log jam of dmen in the system (especially at RHD for once). But our forward group is weak AF. Looking at how teams played this year in the playoffs, how many of them could we possibly take down in a series? Our success hinges on Petey having a revenge tour (he could, time will tell) and our 2C is Chytil. I really have no idea who they will find to replace Boeser and Suter and at what price point. Everyone else? Good but usually not game breakers. Without a strong, consistent one-two offensive punch, this team will not go far. I'll always cheer for them and hope they prove me wrong but man, this past season they proved all my pessimistic outlooks to be true and worse in some cases. I don't know how they fix this without a rebuild but that would mean losing Hughes. Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Edit: before last year started, I had really big concerns about the d group they had assembled and I was right to doubt them. This year, I have the same feeling towards the forward group. |
If you can get the team to squeak into playoffs for a few years, maybe Aquaman will finally build a new practice facility :lol |

It's already over! start the 26/27 thread now... |
The family is into development ... build a practice rink and then a 35 floor condo tower on top of it ... bet you tons of people will buy into that. |
Unless you’re a team like the oilers or panthers, star studded with legitimate superstars across the board, nothing is guaranteed. What should the canucks do? Turn into the sabers? Senators? Habs? Teams that have been garbage for decades and still can’t compete? Canucks under the aqualinis have had more legitimate chances at playoff runs than all those teams combined. Just “rebuilding” or whatever you want to do guarantees nothing. People want to guide their anger somewhere but realistically new ownership isn’t going to do shit really I’m indifferent to the aqualinis but people do realize like a quarter or more of the league have owners who don’t even spend to the cap right? |

Sam Bennett just announced he's staying in Florida for 8 more years. If they can also keep Marchand, i think it's going to be a three-peat |
I might actually buy next year's NHL EA game if they make the Panthers super stacked... then I will just play exhibition games where I target EP and just check the shit out of him and see if the game will let me injure him and see how unsportsmanlike the game will let me play, hahaha... |

It’s official. Toews plays for the Jets on a one year contract: https://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/202...361bb7a979.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
I've always been a fan of Toews, I hope hes fully recovered now and can resume his career. No one should have to go out because of covid. |
Toews in Winnipeg is awesome, I hope he's fully healthy |

There's some speculation that Dallas may be waiting in the wings to hire Malhotra once Calder Cup is settled. No definitive proof yet though. The other interesting thing now is how they will manage Silovs going into next season. He would require waivers to be sent to AHL. Do we trade him? Trade Demko/Lankinen? Lots to figure out. |
I'm still not convinced Silovs is a NHL goalie |
I have to admit I'm not totally convinced yet either but if that's truly the case then I'd sell him right now at the peak of his potential value. I wouldn't want to trade him to a division rival though. |
I know a division rival that DOES need some good goaltending though hmm |
inb4 Silovs for McDavid lol. I think someone alluded to that in the other thread already. |
They're going to have to throw in a sweetener, maybe Drai But yea, I think Silovs is definitely on the block. They're talking to Demko about an extension. |

McDavid has a NMC, watch him pull a Marner and not waive and then they lose the greatest individual player ever for nothing lol |
