:lol ... if that happens, then McJesus will be a free agent next year.

spoon.ek9 07-16-2025 07:45 PM

get rid of Nurse, sign a real goalie...

murd0c 07-17-2025 11:55 AM

I still think their goal is to sign carter hart, he would be perfect for them.

Dakota Joshua to the Leafs for a 2028 4th Rounder??

What a shit deal… he had a terrible year last year recovering from CANCER but he’s worth way more than a 4th almost 3 years from now? Wtf

I agree. Allvin got fleeced on this trade. Fourth round pick in the 2028 draft hahaa.

punkwax 07-17-2025 01:11 PM

I’m a little surprised by the return as well but this is likely a cap dump to free up money for a better player. Chief Kief has also made DJ more expendable.

spoon.ek9 07-17-2025 01:48 PM

yeah I don't like the return either but it's clearly cap dump

AzNightmare 07-17-2025 04:09 PM

Kane for Dak.

Eh, I know Dakota was recovering from cancer. Time will tell. But I'm also not entirely convinced Dakota was going to keep producing more as time goes.

Management needs capspace to address the need for now.

spoon.ek9 07-17-2025 04:17 PM

his cap hit is precisely the reason he was traded, nothing more. we need cap, he's a 3/4th liner making $3.25M. abby guys can step into that role at a much more affordable price.

bobbinka 07-17-2025 05:21 PM

waiting to see what we do with this cap space.... better be something good

i'm positive Dak was going to have a bounce back year. Being able to put him on a line with Garland and get instant chemistry will be sorely missed.

spoon.ek9 07-17-2025 05:50 PM

yeah that chemistry was great to see while it lasted. i'm sure he'll have a much better season this year.

Aquaman must love all these moves. Patrik signing all these players to get rid of them the next yr. Lol.

Tim Budong 07-18-2025 12:22 AM

losing Suter and trading away DJ

would love to see the abby guys step up so there some cap space,
but now that there are options, who could fill this open C spot

68style 07-18-2025 05:46 AM

I think Raty showed quite well toward the end of the season, had a real good scoring touch.

Hondaracer 07-18-2025 08:07 AM

Lost what little grit we had. Looking pretty soft on paper

The only gritty players that I see on our team now are Sherwood and perhaps a motivated Kane. -motivated because Evander is on a one year contract.

Chief Kief and Kane. The rest of the team is looking soft as Charmin toilet paper, especially on the center position.

Allvin better pull a rabbit out of a hat in terms of acquiring a good second line centre.

spoon.ek9 07-18-2025 09:52 AM

yeah.. not a big forward group right now. Sherwood is physical and now we have Kane for that role too but other than that it's a bit thin. Sasson and Raty will get a shot as centers I imagine. Ideally we wouldn't have both in the lineup at the same time, hence the cap dump.

1C Petey
2C Chytil
3C Blueger
4C Raty/Sasson

No one has really talked about him much so far, but I was actually disappointed management didn't give Blais a shot on our 4th line for next season. Dude was a beast in that Calder Cup run. Big, heavy hits and not afraid to step up to anyone. Something this team clearly needs a bit more of.

roastpuff 07-18-2025 09:11 PM

Blais was slow and had bad conditioning, you could see it during the Abby run where he got left in the dust a couple of times after he was chasing a hit.

Sasson is pretty gritty, I can see him being a speedy pest.

teggy604 07-20-2025 03:28 PM

Chytil is like one concussion away for his nhl career. He had one last yr didn't he?

68style 07-20-2025 09:08 PM

Yup I’ld bet money he doesn’t make it through this season without another one and likely career over

spoon.ek9 07-21-2025 08:46 AM

it's really shitty because he seems talented and creative with his play. also comes across as a really nice dude in his Rangers PR clips. being so young and having already suffered so many concussions is some real shit luck.

murd0c 07-21-2025 09:08 AM

he really is a great player but no question he's going to get ko'd again and hopefully he will finally decided to hang them up. Hockey is all he knows and I really feel bad for the guy since he's a good player.

teggy604 07-21-2025 01:16 PM

The dude is a multi millionaire at 25. I am sure he can find something to do with his life after hockey.

whitev70r 07-21-2025 01:59 PM

^ do what all players who can't play in the NHL do ... be an elite high level coach. He's already got his bag of gold.

Gumby 07-21-2025 03:18 PM

Many pro sports athletes are terrible with money, and many of them don't know anything outside of their sport. There are only so many coach/analyst/etc. positions available...
