2 to 3 weeks could turn into month to month and then the season. Lol

Alvin and JR wishful thinking. Everything they wished for hasn't turn around. Demko, EP40, Miller, Horvat, Chytil. Soon to be Hughes. The guy is breaking down physically and mentally trying to keep this team together.

spoon.ek9 11-12-2025 09:55 AM

Just once before I die... plz... :eek5x:

68style 11-12-2025 10:07 AM

Fuckin guy held together with gum and string at this point.

I do not take it as a positive that it's unrelated to his previous injury or his maintenance days... that just means it's yet another thing to add to the pile.

Also 2-3 weeks in this Olympics condensed schedule is not a small absence. They play ELEVEN games in the next 3 weeks and EIGHT of those games are against western division opponents.

whitev70r 11-12-2025 10:53 AM

Feel bad for Demko, no player wants to sit out injury after injury. But he has his bag of gold. I wonder if this is the kind of thing that might send someone to mental health stress, signs a huge ass contract and then can't deliver.

But this situation is really sh*tty for Canucks overall.

Infiniti 11-12-2025 10:56 AM

Don't worry everyone, Aqua will instruct mgmt to mortgage more of the future for results that amount to dick all.

68style 11-12-2025 11:00 AM

At this juncture, despite having Garland, I feel like a bit of my soul dies every time Dylan Guenther gets a point.

I mean, I know it's early on, but the SHARKS are in the playoffs right now. They were SO BAD even as recently as last year... but they have an actual superstar player unlike us.

bobbinka 11-12-2025 01:31 PM

If it's any consolation, Demko can easily go on LTIRetirement for any of the remaining years, so his contract won't actually be an anchor for the team.

spoon.ek9 11-12-2025 01:32 PM

Trade the farm to bring Bedard and Celebrini home? lol

teggy604 11-12-2025 01:59 PM

Sell everyone and get picks and do a rebuild. At that time Bedard and Celebrini might be UFAs and want to come back home.

Ranked 27th in the league on the PK.

The team has given up so many goals while shorthanded.

Is it just injuries which are the cause of the horrible PK or something else?

Yea, this one stings, especially given how he was the swiss army knife being used all up and down the lineup after the whole miller debacle. We couldn't give him $4mil x 2 yrs (likely would've been slightly less to stay with the team) but we could trade for Kane at $5mil?

He was our poor man's 2C... and we couldn't even find a replacement.

That could be anywhere from 8 to 12 years. If they sign 8 yr deals after their ELC, it'll only be 8, but if they take bridge deals that keep them as RFAs before signing their 8 yr deals, it could be longer.

I don't think I could survive a decade of being being a bottom feeder team

spoon.ek9 11-13-2025 07:47 AM

I believe new CBA only allows for 7 year max on new contracts

Meh. If you can survive 55+ years of mediocrity you can survive 12 yrs of a rebuild. Lol.

And if they trade Hughes now, they can get a couple first rounders. So a rebuild might not take as long as you think.

As long as Aquilini owns the Canucks, I do not think that this franchise will undergo a full rebuild based on building a team through draft picks.

Here is why:

It is widely speculated that Vancouver Canucks owner Francesco Aquilini wants to win a Stanley Cup to honor his aging father, Luigi Aquilini, before he passes away. This ambition is often cited as a driving force
behind the team's "win-now" decisions and reluctance to enter a full rebuild.

Francesco Aquilini has openly stated, "Winning a Stanley Cup is everything" and that owners should be "driven to win the Stanley Cup".
While he has never explicitly attributed this wish to his father in a formal statement, reports and sources close to the team have indicated that fulfilling his father's wish is a significant personal motivation.

Luigi Aquilini is in his early 80s now. Will Francesco ever allow Allvin and Rutherford to blow up team's core and do a full rebuild of this franchise?

How many years would it take for the Canucks be come legitimate championship contenders if the team does a full rebuild based on draft picks?

Aquaman really wants his Daddy to have a chance to to see the Canucks win a Stanley Cup. Luigi is OLD. LUL

That is why I think Aquaman is a meddling owner who will not let management do a full rebuild. A re-tool on the fly with signing free agents and keeping our team core of Hughes, Petey, Boeser, Garland, and Demko.

Yeah, I am not fan of Aquilini if you have not found out now. What a joke to see that a billionaire who helped build his business empire partly from construction and real estate NOT spend money to build a practice facility for the Canucks.

spoon.ek9 11-13-2025 10:01 AM

Look at what the Sharks and Ducks in a short period of time. With the right vision and right pieces, it may take a lot less longer than most predict.

In the nearly 15 years since the 2011 run we have accomplished precisely jack shit. I think there was a stat that was shared recently by Drance(?) that said in the past 50 years every team who has won the cup had top 3 draft picks in their roster but surely the Canucks management/ownership knows better.

HonestTea 11-13-2025 10:20 AM

Is there still a wait list for season tickets? lol

spoon.ek9 11-13-2025 10:30 AM

I doubt it. Especially with prices having gone up again this season.

That is the definition of insanity. Do something over and over again expecting different results. Stanley cup is not everything. Money is everything to them. If stanley cup was everything they would have built a practice facility long time ago when experts called for it.

$24 beers anyone? Lol

I believe the rule doesnt kick in until next year, so they still have time to do 8 year contracts if the player is in their last year.

I'd wait another year or two to see whether the Sharks and Ducks are truly good. We were full of hope a few years ago too and look how things have turned out :lol

Has had some nagging injuries, plays him 26 mins/game (most mins/game, I heard) ... bound to aggravate whatever.

Gumby 11-13-2025 10:58 PM

I would be injured too if I had to carry the whole team every single game… :lol

teggy604 11-14-2025 08:26 AM

He was injured in the first period playing the Jets. Came back to finish the game. I wonder what kind of pain killers he popped to keep him going? Lol.

Tylenol 3?

spoon.ek9 11-14-2025 08:53 AM

T3's don't do shit for pain lol. Anyone with chronic pain will tell you that. If anything, it's great at giving you constipation SeemsGood
