Dude I watch all games on Gamepass! As long as I avoid spoilers it's as good as watching it live!
FINALLY!! A good MNF match-up!!!
And what a game! I had goosebumps several times including Cam's amazing run and the end zone interception at the end. Panthers are legit!

The better team won tonight. Newton played better than Brady. Panthers defence stepped up during the Patriots' final drive to hit Brady to the turf.
-hurts to see my Patriots lose. -gotta give credit to the Panthers for the win.
However, I gotta say that the refs blew the call on the last play.
That was pass interference! The Panthers linebacker had both arms wrapped around Gronkowski. Brady had a legitimate complaint to the refs about the non call. :swear:
I saw the last play and the replay twice. -Regardless of what the football analyst says in the video link below, the refs made the wrong call.
How do you threw a flag in the end zone and then say there was "no foul?" Bullshit!
Newton's clutch pass to McGinn, his ability to run the ball, and Panthers' defence stepping up their game was the difference.
New England Patriots QB Tom Brady has words with ref after game-ending interception - NFL Videos
SkinnyPupp
11-18-2013, 08:46 PM
The pass was intercepted which is why there was no foul - it was an uncatchable ball. If it wasn't intercepted the foul would have been confirmed
The refs throw a foul when they see it, but other things can happen that can negate the foul
The other PI they had may have been close to being turned back too IMO
pastarocket
11-18-2013, 09:04 PM
-saw the replay of the last pass. Brady is at fault in the last play in that his pass was underthrown. Hence, the Panthers player had a better chance to make that interception. Newton outplayed Brady today.
-hoping that the Pats' secondary gets healthier soon. Their defence also misses Wilfork.

11-18-2013, 09:09 PM
.....okay......? So now you agree that it was the right call?
pastarocket
11-18-2013, 09:23 PM
Yeah, the refs made the right call. Like I said, the Panthers were the better team today. The outcome of the game was not decided by the non-call. Cam Newton and his team mates played better.
-still quite a bit of football to be played this season. The Patriots will get better.
I ain't got no worries.

I'm so thankful the NHL locked out...blessing in disguise. - NBA and NHL is honestly shit compared to the NFL...82 games per season makes individual games so meaningless, like who gives a shit if the Wizards beat the Heat? doesn't mean shit.....However if the Seahawks lose to the Bucs....that could have a HUGE effect on how things get played out.
and don't even get me started on how awesome Fantasy Football is...

100% agree with you, the lockout is the reason I started watching in the first place. When I watch a game, it has my full attention the entire time. Now when I watch NHL I just leave it running in the background usually

Terrible call, way to ruin a terrific game on a terrible call. That ball was catchable if there was no holding, gronk didnt even get a chance to make a play because he was held. The ball was underthrown, but we could have dropped low to catch it if he wasnt being held and pushed towards the back of the endzone. I'm kinda unbiased to both teams and I even have an old school Dan morgan panthers jerseys, and even I think that was a terrible call.
As fans of football, we got cheated out of seeing a great ending to a great game. With one last play at the 1 yard line. one of the best offenses vs one of the top defenses. one final play to win the game. even jon gruden said it should have been a penalty. I play flag football every week during the fall, and to me, that's a penalty.
whats more stupid was if you watch the replay - the ref that threw the flag was in perfect view and saw the penalty, and threw the flag. then another ref that wasnt even facing the same direction, didnt see the hold, came in and said - not catchable.
refs blew this one.

11-18-2013, 10:33 PM
I beg to differ. I don't think Gronk had any chance to get between the ball and the dude who intercepted it.

he was in the vicinity, it's hard to make any adjustments when a linebacker is holding you and leading you towards the back of the endzone. i've seen pass interference calls where the ball is much further away from the Receivers. Plus the not catchable calls are called on balls that are clearly no where near the receivers or going out of bounds. even te former referee and VP of Officiating Mike Pereira who does officiating analysis said it should have been a penalty.
plus i really thought the refs would at least make this call after the horrible 3rd down interference/holding call on the panthers last touchdown drive where the Panthers TE grabbed and wrapped his arms around the patriots receiver and flung his other arm in the air for the worst acting job ever, and the patriots corner (i think it was McCourty). you can watch the replay clearly on NFL.com - where they even said it was a terrible call, see where the panthers arms are and how the offense player is actually locking his arms around the corner.
i dont know. bad decision. terrible way to ruin an epic game that could have been talked about for all the right reasons instead it will be all about the bad call.

This...I've been a huge NFL fan for over 20 years now, but ever since the NHL lockouts, I've been watching more NCAA football. NFL and NCAAF are just so much more entertaining and on another level in terms of entertainment, production quality and beast athletes than NHL and NBA in my opinion. For me its NFL>NCAAF>NHL....................then NBA/CFL/MLB in my pile of don't give a fuck haha
I could spend all day Saturday and Sunday just watching NCAAF and NFL, some crazy games over this past weekend in NCAA for those that missed it, ending to Auburn/Georgia, Auburn 4th and 18, down by 1, 30 seconds left, needing a win to setup the Alabama game as a potential SEC champ game
Miracle Catch! (HD) Auburn Game Winning TD vs Georgia - YouTube
Michigan/Northwestern, who knew you can setup and get off a fg in 10 seconds, amazing, Michigan ended up winning 27-19 after 3 OTs

Looking forward to the Baylor vs Oklahoma St and Texas A&M vs LSU games this week. Also wanting to see how bad FSU rolls Idaho, haha I think they cover the -56 spread easy, can be a 72-0 game easy :fullofwin:

If this is legit, I am so fucking stoked! :awwyeah:
I think the current unis, while look good, look really dated.. They are neither classic nor modern.. just stuck in 90's purgatory
Ravens are a 90's team though, so don't have a classic look to fall back on. So any change has to be modern.
These look AMAZING! (the jerseys at least, not big on the gradient pants)
Edit: DOH these aren't really official, although the guy apparently does design clothes for sports leages. Check out all his NFL designs here (http://www.uni-watch.com/2013/11/16/designing-minds-volume-v/) and here (http://www.uni-watch.com/2013/11/23/designing-minds-volume-v-part-ii/). Most of them are huge improvements (especially the Cowboys) but the Redskins one is awful.

As much as I like the Seahawks, this doesn't do much help to their reputation, given this isn't the first time and especially since they have what most regard as the best defense (and best secondary) in the NFL. I'm assuming the Ginger Hammer is going to increase "random" testing in their locker room from now on.
Edit: Looks like it's not PEDs, but plain old substance abuse infraction. It's crazy how people can piss away the opportunities they have by not staying clean. That's too bad.

Pot is not PED, all it does is get you laid back and lazy and hungry when you smoke it no way does that enhance your playing on the filed and anyone that thinks different has never smoked it before. Funny thing is, pot is legal in Washington state. It's that easy for players to get a hold of it. Browner shoulda been smart about it and lay off the pipe for a few months going to a contract year. So many huge games this week :fullofwin:
Ravens vs Steelers at home on thanksgiving night... that should be awesome as always but with this game, winner is still in the hunt while the loser can forget about the playoffs
Sunday afternoon will be Panthers @ Tampa.. Tampa has been playing well and Carolina is fun to watch
Then you have Broncos @ Chiefs, which probably is the division championship game.. But I might watch Chargers @ Bengals instead, since it has more meaning to my team
Too bad Giants and Skins both suck, those games were so fun last year. Oh well we still might get a shootout
And then of course Monday night a huge game, Saints @ Seattle for MNF! :awwyeah:

On Tomlin...
New angle makes Tomlin’s misstep look less accidental
Steelers coach Mike Tomlin said after Thursday night’s game against the Ravens that he “lost my placement” when ending up with one foot in the field of play — and also in the path of Ravens kick returner Jacoby Jones.
Perhaps the truth is that Tomlin precisely found his placement.
A new angle of the play, captured by KDKA-TV in Pittsburgh, shows Tomlin doing anything but wandering aimlessly as he stared at the M&T Bank Stadium’s Jumbotron. With his right leg planted on the edge of the field, Tomlin steps with his left leg not absent-mindedly but deliberately, like someone who is trying to stake out a specific piece of turf.
Or like someone who is executing a “side step right” while asking, “Why did the chicken cross the road?”
Deadspin has expanded the image and slowed it down.
While the video arguably undermines the idea that Tomlin meandered to the edge of the field while trying to take in the return on a giant video screen that could have been seen from any position in the sideline area, it’s doesn’t resolve the issue completely.
Other video could. The NFL has yet to post the coaches film from the three Thanksgiving games on its Game Rewind service. The end zone angle could shed more light on what Tomlin was doing just before he ended up standing where he was when Jones approached.
There could be other video, such as the raw, unedited coaching tape, that shows Tomlin’s full movements from the moment the ball was kicked to the instant he flinched toward Jones. Likewise, the league could ask for video shot by one of the many NBC cameras that were blanketing the playing area.
A complete and comprehensive look at Tomlin’s movements before and during the play could help the NFL decide whether to accept Tomlin’s explanation that he accidentally stepped out of rank, or whether he was merely trying to prevent Jones from completing his act of razzle dazzle.

Browner now saying he won't bargain with NFL at all, and will fight to get them to drop the suspension completely. After that, I'm sure he will sue
Coles notes goes:
-He failed for weed, went to CFL
-While in CFL, NFL were still sending him drug tests
-Since he didn't complete these tests, they all counted as fails.
-When (I guess) he finally did fail a test, since he "failed" all his previous tests, he was to get a 1 year suspension
This obviously affects his ability to get hired by a team next year, which would be his case to sue

you can't do that... NFL are cracking down on those type of hits
:heckno:
Lol, you're completely wrong....That's what the league is TELLING players to do now.....Players are being easily penalized for going at the upperbody/head, so guys feel like they have no choice but to go at dudes' knees now...The hit was completely legal.
"I closed on the pass, it was a decision I made just to make a tackle on a big man," Ward said. "Unfortunately he got hurt, but if I were to hit him up high, there's a chance I would've got fined . . . I'm just being safe."
Ward explained that with the NFL rules for illegal hits being what they are, defensive backs like himself are left with little choice: A hit up high could result in a personal foul penalty and a hefty fine; a hit down low may be dangerous, but it doesn't carry the same kinds of risks.
"I've been fined three times," he said. "And I don't like playing for free. You can ask anybody in this league if they like playing for free. No. Repeat offenders, they starting to suspend people for the year. I can't risk that. I won't risk that. I gotta play within the rules. Point blank."
Browns cornerback Joe Haden agreed with his teammate.
"It's a focus on to tackle low because you don't want to get fined," Haden said. "You playing within the rules. I feel so bad that [Gronkowski] went down like that, but TJ was doing everything he had to do to play within the rules. If you're catching the ball like that and he goes up top, there's going to be a fine. They're going to take away a lot of money and everything like that -- throw a flag on the play. But that's the way they want us to do it now. I feel so bad for Gronkowski. At the same time TJ's doing what he has to do. Playing within the rules, and that's just what's going to happen."
"That's what they want us to do," said Poyer. "That's what they preach us to do. That's what they tell us to do. I feel like it's a fair hit. My heart and my prayers go out to Gronk 'cause, I mean, it was nasty. But at the end of the day, that's how they want defenders to come in and hit."
"If you do hit him in his chest and he decides to hunch down or flinch or lower his head," Ward said, "then I could get the chance of being fined."
If the rules protecting defenseless receivers and shots to the head had not been instilled as they are, Ward said, there is a chance he may have attempted a different type of tackle.
"When they set the rule, everyone knew what was going to happen," Ward said. "This can happen if you have those type of situations. It's pretty much inevitable. They forced our hand with this one."

For those that missed it, here's the final 2 minutes of the Ravens/Vikings game...
Here it is in GIF form:
http://i.imgur.com/kYaObUM.gif
-At the 2:00 warning, it was 12-7 Vikings
-Pitta catches a TD in his first game of hte season after a shaky start, then they complete a 2 pt conversion - 15-12 Ravens
-Vikings then score on a 30 or 40 yeard run, with AP sitting on the sidelines. 19-15 Vikings
-Jacoby Jones then runs that TD's kickoff back for another TD. 22-19 Ravens
-Corderrelle Patterson then takes a short screen pass all the way into the end zone to take the lead again. 26-22 Vikings with 45 seconds left in the game
-Ravens march right back, and Marlon Brown catches the winning TD with I think 6 seconds on the clock. Ravens win! 29-26
That was the last TWO minutes of the game. Up until then, there was barely any scoring at all. That game really gave my heart a workout

No idea.. that's a panel at ESPN I think.
I doubt it since the Ravens have played no more than 2 games or so where the score spread was much more than 3 points. You'd be crazy to take them to cover 2.5, even if you do think they'll win.

Ravens were brutal today. Poor Flacco can barely move out there sometimes, but they didn't really change up the offense to suit his injury. He was bad in Detroit after the injury, and bad in this game. They are either going to have to make changes to how they play offense (and running isn't really an option) or maybe have to think about putting in TyRod since it's literally a must win next week.

A good look at the AFC playoff scenario next week. None of the 4 teams can guarantee anything if they win their game - it all depends on how everyone else does
http://i.imgur.com/g2UXSXM.png
If the Bengals, Jets, and Chiefs win, the Steelers could be in the playoffs :fulloffuck:
I can totally see the Jets winning - they are playing hard for their coach's last game. Chiefs should take care of the Chargers, and I don't see how the Browns will do anything but get slaughtered by the Steelers.
Now all the Ravens have to do is beat the Bengals at home, where they have scored over 40 points on opponents 4 games in a row :heckno:
I think I'll do a parlay on the Ravens, Jets, Chiefs, and Steelers :considered:

yup look at the states and all depends what team they are playing. We do a draft at the beg pf the year and I pick my players but the big thing is who to play and what free agents to pick up. I picked up Nick Foley at the beg of the season which really won it for me since I had Desean Jackson as well. It makes football way more fun since it gets you to follow all the teams and the players that are playing rather then just that one team you cheer for.
I wouldnt really say a trick, I'm just really good at Fantasy football, this is the 3rd year I have played with my good buddies and I came 3rd the first year and I have won the past two. Fuck it feels good

Fantasy Football is all about taking sleepers mid to late draft, having the balls to make trades to cut your losses, and being quick to pick up guys before everyone else....the rest of it is luck....you don't have to watch games for any of that shit.....
I needed VD to put up 12 points today to win my league, a task that shouldn't have been too difficult to accomplish against a shitty Falcons D that has given up the most points to tight ends over the last month....He puts up a goose egg....that's just bad luck....

Woot. Won my fantasy as well. Thanks to San Fran defence last minute pick six. Other guy had 0 production from Vernon Davis. Feels good.
The trick to not give up on players you pick.I see it backfire with a lot of guys. TE are the hardest to find get either of the G's if you can with your first pick gronk.Gonzalez.Graham. followed by RB,s. Look out for injury prone players and players on bad team offence. Experience is the key to learning fantasy.

Anyone who picked Gronk or Gonzalez with their first pick is absolutely retarded....I'm guessing you were playing with a bunch of idiots.....
Anyway, your early drafting doesn't make or break you.....It's your mid to late drafting, along with having the balls to trade guys to cut your losses.....You said 'the trick is to not give up on players you pick'.....right, tell that to guys who drafted Doug Martin, CJ Spiller, Ray Rice, and Trent Richardson in the first round.....tell that to the guys who drafted Ridley, SJax, and David Wilson in the 2nd round.....
I drafted Spiller with my first pick...after a few shit weeks, tried to cut my losses by trading him and Dez for Vick, Trent Richardson (as soon as he got traded, as I thought he might have just needed a change of scenery), and Victor Cruz.....
....That trade ended up biting me in the ass, but I quickly flipped Cruz for V-Jax (while he was still mediocre), Roddy, and Amendola (while they were both still hurt)....I thought at least one of them has to pan out to be as good as Cruz eventually, and anything more would be a bonus....V-Jax ended up being a stud.
I traded T-Rich during his bye week with the Colts for Keenan Allen and Heyward-Bey....Convinced my trade partner that T-Rich quite possibly just needs the bye week to get familiar with the Colts playbook....Keenan Allen and Heyward-Bey were just coming off their first big games, so they were really hit or miss as to whether they'd be able to keep it up, but again, I decided it was a low risk trade (as I didn't believe in Trent anymore) and a high reward trade (as at least one of Keenan or Heyward-Bey could really end up panning out).....Keenan Allen ended up being a stud.
I made a shitload more trades, including Gio + Julius for LeSean McCoy, Keenan Allen + SJax + Jordan Cameron for DeSean Jackson, to better my team...
Picked up Zac Stacy as soon as I heard hints that he'd get a shot at starting...have to try to grab guys before they go off, or you're stuck behind waiver priority...
My first two picks in the draft were Spiller and SJax, and Gio was my other running back I drafted.....Pretty shitty, but my running backs at the end of the season ended up being LeSean McCoy and Zac Stacy.....My WR's that I drafted early were Cobb and Amendola....Cobb got hurt eventually and Amendola went down fairly quickly.....Luckily, I drafted well later in the draft and took Josh Gordon in the 7th round and Alshon Jeffery in the 11th round...
TL;DR? Fantasy Football is dope.

Bet $2 to win $80 :fuckthatshit:
The Chiefs odds are interesting because they are assuming they are going to sit the starters 100%. Even if they do, it's still not a given that the Charger (who earlier this season lost to the Redskins and Raiders) will win. It is possible that Reid will play just enough starters to win the game.. We'll see!

As a Canucks fan I am used to being disappointed... But to win the Superbowl one year and not be in the playoffs the next, is pretty crazy!
It has been a rough season to follow this team... Almost no offensive production at all. I can only think of ONE game (against the Texans.. week 2?) that they looked "good". Everything else was just crazy... still made for some exciting games, but doesn't really give you hope for a playoff run (or appearance for that matter)
Anyway I'll be with my #2 team the Seahawks, and on top of that cheering for ANYONE who is playing against the Broncos, Patriots, or 49ers. Fuck those teams.

I don't blame them entirely, but when I think of the term 'choke', I think of someone messing up down the stretch.....Thus, I think of this, which is just inexcusable:

You're comparing Alex Smith to greats....Alex Smith is NOT great.....However, he did FAR MORE than what was expected of him yesterday...Chiefs D did not.
Anyway, I called it from the beginning - Bengals are pretenders. So inconsistent, were never a real threat to make it far in the playoffs despite most experts picking them to make it to the AFC championship.
