Anyone see Detroit get absolutely robbed last night by one of the worst calls of the entire NFL season. Midway through the third quarter, Houston's back-up RB, Justin Forsett, took a routine carry up the middle for seven yards and was knocked to one knee, but he quickly bounced back up and scampered a total of 81 yards for the touchdown as the refs didn't blow the play dead. Since Lions coach Jim Schwartz threw a challenge flag on a scoring play, NFL rules state that the play then has to stand as called on the field...and since a whistle was never blown, it cancels out the flag thrown on the field...It's a ridiculous rule that figures to be changed as soon as this week.

That is seriously one of the most fucked up calls I have ever seen in any sport

I get that you can't challenge a non whistled play, but aren't all touchdowns reviewed??? They say that over and over in every game I have watched!

They say that it gets 'cancelled' due to the challenge flag but that's bullshit. I have seen other games where they throw a flag unnecessarily, and the ref just gives it back to the coach and they review the play anyway

Not on the road at least. On the road it's all about Ray Rice. Unfortunately they seem to want to run him right up the middle on every running play.. is Flacco that bad that they can't even do some screen passes to keep the defense guessing?

:fulloffuck:

All scoring plays and turnovers are automatically reviewed. However, if the coach throws a challenge flag on a play that already gets an automatic review, then that play can not be reviewed anymore and a 15 yard penalty is imposed.

This rule was put in place because previously, coaches would purposely throw a challenge flag on plays they know weren't challengable or automatically reviewed by the booth upstairs to delay the game and to get the attention of the ref to go over to the coach, before this rule, there was no method of punishing/penalizing the team throwing challenge flags with the only intent to delay the game. IMO they should just tack on the 15 yard penalty but still allow the automatic review for scoring plays and turnovers.

The debacle solely falls on Schwartz and just shows what a shitty/gongshow coach he is. He knew the rule, this just happened to him last Thanksgiving vs the Niners, Harbaugh threw a challenge flag last Thanksgiving when Detroit scored a TD, the Niners were given a penalty and Schwartz himself was yelling, swearing, shouting at Harbaugh "Know the rules". This also happened just the week before this Thanksgiving to the Falcons when they challenged an auto reviewed play vs the Cards, so Schwartz had no excuse. Basically Schwartz has proven he has no control of his locker room with all the undisciplined plays on the field of his players and all the off field issues his players have, and now obviously no self control either, throwing a flag when he knew he couldn't and shouldn't.

I'm posting this reply without reading yet... so far the only game this weekend I have watched is Steelers vs Browns and it's actually an interesting one! Steelers are with their 3rd string QB and he sucks, and to make matters worse their runners can't hold on to the ball at all.

5 minutes left and the Browns are leading! If the fucken Browns can beat them, I can't wait to see what the Ravens do to them at home next week :fullofwin:

Will spoiler this bit since Skinny is 24hours behind on games

Ray Rice is a beast, his conversion of that 4th and 29 kept my parlay ticket alive, but Packers getting blown out killed my ticket, had Packers at +4, only game I had wrong on a 6 game parlay.

LOL, anyone see the sprinklers come on mid game in Miami haha
wild wings for real - YouTube

Any thoughts on the MNF game, 2 disasters of teams going head to head, line is -3 Panthers, I'm leaning that way and thinking of adding Panthers to 10 points first on a parlay. With Shady and Vick out of the Eagles, don't see how they can mount much of an offense.

Dude they were 4th and 29! And that was their last possession, Chargers would have won. He caught it at like 7 yards and ran for the rest of the 30! No matter what team you're playing, that is AMAZING. This will be one of the plays of the year

Wow, sabotaging your own team, Titus Young pretty much just stamped his own ticket out of the NFL if this is true, don't see how any team can trust him next year, especially given that he already had character concerns before being drafted.

Per Birkett, Young purposely lined up in the wrong place on the field “multiple times” during the Lions’ Week Eleven loss to Green Bay. He also “mouthed off” to receivers coach Shawn Jefferson before being benched for the final possession. Apparently upset that he wasn’t getting enough passes thrown his way, Young responded by attempting to sabotage the Lions’ passing offense.

Young’s teammates understandably don’t have his back anymore; top wideout Calvin Johnson indicated after the Thanksgiving game that he anticipates the Lions moving forward with rookie Ryan Broyles and newly acquired Mike Thomas in the lineup.

Lions benched Titus Young for sabotaging their passing offense | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2012/11/29/lions-benched-titus-young-for-sabotaging-their-passing-offense/)

I also can't believe the NFL fined Earl Thomas $15k for grazing Tannehill's helmet, such bullshit. That was a borderline penalty at best, yes I understand he did make contact with the QBs helmet, fine, the penalty was by the book, but the fine, ridiculous. There was no malicious intent, Thomas was jumping to deflect the pass, no way he could've stopped mid air.

Well played game by the Patriots against the Texans. Brady makes NFL with most games played with 4 or more TD's and no interceptions (fourteen games). Strong start in the game for New England.

-nice to see Lloyd catch the ball in the end zone for a TD after Woodhead fumbled the ball. Lady luck follows the Patriots. :fullofwin:

Texans got outplayed and outcoached. Schaub had an off game. Patriots' defense played good man to man coverage to defend against Andre Johnson.

The thing about only watching the games, is you don't have to worry about the bullshit.

Thing is, I went and checked out Griffin III's twitter and... well I kind of find it hard to be a big fan now

As for this weekend, apparently the Ravens fired their offensive coordinator... now I am kind of a noob to this sport, but I wonder what that will mean? Flacco has been anything but impressive (except for some accurate long bomb throws) and they haven't been using Ray Rice nearly enough IMO. Although their real problem is their defense, it will be interesting to see if the offense improves with this change, and if Rice gets to carry more now.

All the god stuff.

I don't care one way or another about one's faith, but I think to be a fan of an athlete we usually have to connect with them in more ways than just talent.

So while I'm not affected by it, it is just annoying when you look up to someone, then they go off about god and jesus all the time... Like ALL the time

It's the similar to the way I can't be a Michael Vick fan. As good a player as he is, no way can I even cheer for him.

Since RGIII isn't killing dogs though, I can still be a fan... just kind of an annoyed one :\

Ray Rice is also highly religious, he just doesn't go off about it over and over... I can get with that much easier :)

Coaching change: Is Rex Ryan fired from the coaching job with the Jets? I question his decision to keep starting Sanchez. The Sanchise has not been consisten all season. The Monday Night showed that Sanchez is a horrible QB. Five turnovers???

Tim Tebow's future: What's gonna happen to Tebow for next season? Will he be traded? Will he be the new no. 1 quarterback for the Jets? The Montreal Alouettes own Tebow's CFL rights. Could Tim be playing in the CFL?

It's tough because they only bring him in for goofball gimmick plays, so you don't really know if he can be a starter or not. Since they are out of the playoffs they should see how he does for whatever games remain (no idea how long the schedule is)

One thing is for sure, Sanchez is no good

BTW can someone explain why I knew who Tebow was before I started watching NFL? He was referred to a lot last year it seems, something about being an annoying religious person or something... Wiki tells me nothing

He was huge last year - He's really a RB playing at the QB position...He can't pass for shit, but he somehow kept winning games last year and, on numerous occasions, he'd win games on the final drive of the game. That was "Tebow Time." The team was 1-4 without him as the starter...When they switched to him, they eventually became AFC champs and even won their first playoff game against the Steelers - Again, this is a QB that can't pass for shit...
Yes, he is also religious. You'd often find him doing "The Tebow" - an act where he kneels down and prays...Became a huge thing last year.

If Rex Ryan is fired, then so is the Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum, who has given Sanchez such a huge contract...Sanchez will remain in NY next season as nobody will trade for him and his stupid contract. He's owed $8.25 million in guaranteed money next season. Nobody will take him - Cutting him would be more likely, and that would bring on a $17.1 million cap hit....not gonna happen - they're stuck with him.

As for Tebow, he will likely request a trade and the Jets are reportedly planning to part ways with him after the season anyway. If they can't deal away Tebow, their 3rd-string QB that they've pretty much held hostage all season, they'll grant him his release.

"All you can ask for, all you want is a chance -- a chance to go out and play the game you love and help this team win football games," he said. "That's all I wanted. I tried to make the most of every opportunity I had. I would've loved to have had more."

Well, I don't think you can write him off so quickly either though....You have to play a different style of football when you are going with him and that requires a whole new system - something the Jets never bothered to work on.

I don't see Tebow being successful at all in the CFL....CFL is a pass-heavy game compared to the NFL - with only 3 downs, I don't think he'd stand much of a chance....Moreover, their's no money in the CFL - he'd probably make more in the NFL being on the practice roster...

7seven
12-21-2012, 06:27 AM
Say what you will about Tebow's skill as a passing QB and his super religious beliefs, but the guy has heart and leadership qualities and just finds ways to win despite lacking the traditional skills as a QB, BCS Champion, Heisman winner, all those 4th quarter comebacks last year, that OT win in the playoffs vs the Steelers, etc.. He even bulked up by adding 10-12lbs of muscle in the offseason to 250lbs when Sparano and Rex sold him on being a Jet and told him they would install special packages for him if he bulked up.

His future in the NFL as a starting QB is likely limited though, I can see maybe 1 or 2 teams willing take a gamble on him as a starter. If Tebow were willing to switch positions, I'd think he would make a really good fullback or TE

It's exciting times ahead in the NFL playoffs. -great to see three rookie quarterbacks in Wilson, Luck, and RG 3 bring their teams into the post season.

-liked seeing all the "hocus pocus" plays that the Redskin's offence ran tonight in confusing the Cowboys. It looked like Dallas had difficulty reading whether RG3 was gonna run the ball, or give it to Morris, or throw the pass.

Seahawks vs. Redskins is gonna be a good game. I say that Seattle wins the wildcard game, despite being playing on the road. -will be a closer game than people predict for next week if Washington's defence blitzes are successful.

Perhaps a Patriots and Broncos showdown for the AFC championship? Brady vs. Manning?

How do you say Tony Romo in Spanish?

Mark Sanchez :troll:

lol.

Romo has the numbers though, just cannot perform on the big stage. Feel bad for the guy, its like he's a jinx to screw things up. His last interception throw to Murray was actually a good read, RB vs LB on the wheel/flat route, but he under threw and didnt lead the ball enough. Not gonna make excuses for him, he sucked bad in big games. There is a Tony Romo debate every game on Sports Talk Radio whether he has a good or bad game haha.

bballguy
12-30-2012, 10:07 PM
Romo sucks....If you can't depend on a guy to have a solid performance every game, he's useless....Cowboys fans shit their pants every time the guy releases a pass.....

If I was a Cowboys fan, I'd much rather have a shitty QB that I know isn't going to be a franchise QB and we can try to draft one rather than have one that is so up and down that you just don't know what to do with him.....Fact of the matter is that Romo will never lead a team to a superbowl. He can't string together 3-4 good games in a row, let alone 2 good halves in a row....

RacingMetro92
12-30-2012, 10:39 PM
Romo has got to be one of the most inconsistent QB's of the past decade. Yeah, he'll light it up for the first 3/4 of the season, then disappears in December and January. I'm surprised that he's been the starter this long to be honest. I feel bad for the guys who have produced for the team while he's been QB (Jason Witten is an elite TE and they actually have receivers now) and have no ring to show for it.

Romo even has the stats to back up his status as an "elite" QB

#4 All-Time Career Passer Rating: 96.1
#4 All-Time Yards Per Attempt: 8.0

Efficient and he can chuck the ball, but that means nothing when you can't win. I don't get how the Cowboys are still "America's Team" when they haven't done jack since he was drafted. Even Peyton Manning was able to get the monkey off his back.

If Romo will be remembered for one thing, it's this:

I have to say, that Baltimore game was some of the most fun I've had watching sports since watching the Canucks in the playoffs live! All the emotions running through the players, I felt it. I just hope they didn't have a huge emotional dump and come out sluggish against the Broncos :heckno:

As for the Seattle game, I was torn cheering between one of my favourite teams, and my favourite player. I had a feeling Griffin's injury would be a factor leading to a Seahawks win, but I didn't expect to see his leg give up on him like that so badly... They were up 14-0, and he was clearly hurt, you have to question the coach for not pulling him at that point. Cousins is no Griffin, but he may have been able to carry them to a close win at least.

My picks for next week are:

Seattle over Atlanta (will be a great game)
SF over GB (another good game)

Baltimore over Denver ( )
NE over Houston (easily)

Synder is such a cheap moron, that field was total bush league. High school team fields are in better condition. Clemons and RG3 both went down on non contact plays fucking their knees up. Same field AP tore up his whole knee on last season too, just embrassing.

Washington radio initially reported they heard RG3 tore his pcl and acl and out 14 to 18 months, but have now pulled the report since Redskins now sending RG3 for more tests as they not sure if the MRI showed the damage from his acl tear in 2009 with Baylor.

Pete Carroll differs with NFL on FedEx Field conditions

By Marc Sessler
Around the League Writer
Published: Jan. 7, 2013 at 02:50 p.m.
Updated: Jan. 7, 2013 at 04:24 p.m.

Sunday's wild-card game between the Washington Redskins and Seattle Seahawks took place on a noticeably beat-up surface at FedEx Field.

Many of the game's onlookers blamed the field for knee injuries suffered by Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III and Seahawks defensive end Chris Clemons. Clemons wore 3/4-inch cleats on the messy turf, leaving his agent, Donal Henderson, to rip the "crappy" conditions.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll clearly was agitated with what his players encountered.

"It was horrible, it's a horrible field," Carroll told KIRO-AM in Seattle on Monday. "It was as bad as a field could get for being dry. And it's too bad. It's really too bad, and we deserve better. ... It was worn out. There was a lot of slipping and all that kind of stuff.

"And it was relative. It didn't change the game at all, in my opinion, because it was relative, both sides, but we should just expect to see a better field at that time of year."

Carroll went on to describe the ground as "real sheer, and there was just a kind of dirt on top of the grass, so it was just not good footing."

(While we're at it, take a look at this photo by NFL.com's Jeff Darlington, comparing Sunday's postgame surface at Baltimore's M&T Bank Stadium with the ground at FedEx.)

"It wasn't a perfect field," Redskins coach Mike Shanahan told reporters Monday. "We all know that."

NFL.com's Ian Rapoport heard from league spokesman Greg Aiello, who said Monday that neither team filed an official complaint over the playing conditions.

"It is the responsibility of the home team to maintain the field," Aiello said. "It's a grass field. It's winter. There were no complaints about it by either team. ... Injuries occur, unfortunately, on every field."

The Seahawks, as Aiello points out, have yet to file an official complaint, but one might not be far off.

Robert Griffin III partially tore ACL, LCL, test reveals - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000123563/article/robert-griffin-iii-partially-tore-acl-lcl-test-reveals)

An MRI on the Washington Redskins' rookie quarterback revealed he has partial tears to the anterior cruciate and lateral collateral ligaments in his right knee, team sources told NFL.com's Jeff Darlington on Monday. However, it is not known if the damage seen in the results is old or new, the sources said.

He's being sent to florida for another doctor and the owner is going with him. Not looking very good, hope he gets better soon though. Amazing talent, and loads of potential.

Mort is reporting RG3 has complete ACL and LCL tears. Ouch

Report: Robert Griffin III out 6-8 months with complete ACL, LCL tears

The final diagnosis appears to be in for Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III.

According to Chris Mortensen of ESPN, Griffin will undergo surgery early Wednesday morning to repair complete tears to his ACL and LCL. Dr. James Andrews will perform the surgery and he is expected to miss six to eight months. Mortensen reported at 1:03 a.m. ET that the surgery would take place in “about six hours” placing the actual time of the surgery somewhere around 7 a.m. ET.

Griffin left Sunday’s Wild Card game against the Seattle Seahawks in the fourth quarter after his right knee bent awkwardly trying to reel in a poor snap. It was already expected that Griffin was going to undergo surgery for at least partial tears of both ligaments but the extent of the damage appears to be greater than first thought.

The timetable of the injury could mean Griffin is ready to go in time for training camp in late July or that he could still be sidelined when the season begins in September.

ACL surgeries aren't nearly as worrying as they used to be....There is plenty of evidence in recent history to show players fully recovering and even being stronger after an ACL injury.

Here's a list of guys who have had torn ACL's and made full recoveries:

Al Harrington (NBA)
Jamal Crawford (NBA)
David West (NBA)

Willis McGahee (NFL)
Wes Welker (NFL)
Adrian Peterson (NFL)
Tom Brady (NFL)

The key to fully recovering is mental. In the words of Jamal Crawford, the key is getting past the stage where you are questioning, “Can I still do that move? Can I still do that cut? The actual injured leg ends up being stronger than the leg that’s not injured, but you don’t believe that at first. You’re scared. You doubt”.

That said, Griffin has already bounced back nicely from ACL surgery when he was at Baylor in 2009, so he shouldn't have any problem getting past that mental stage...

Career being close to over?...lol c'mon man...

k3lv

Probably off the adrenaline he had from everything happening. However if I were part of the medical team I would have taken my precautions and carted him off. Still don't understand why they kept him in the game, while Cousins isn't nearly as dynamic as Rg3, he stood his ground when RG3 went down earlier in the season and played well. Bunk move in my opinion. Rg3 has been nothing but a class act, hope all goes well in recovery for him.

No, you can still walk with a torn ACL, but you can't do any lateral movement....That said, walking on it could cause further damage, so obviously they shouldn't taken precaution and had him carted...but if they didn't pull him out of the game when he was limping around, it's not all that surprising that they would let him walk around when he just got badly injured...

MarkyMark
01-09-2013, 01:29 AM
Amazing that they kept him in that game while he's out there limping around on his leg like that. You can't just ask him if he's ok and wants to stay in, because of course hes going to say hes ok in a game like that. He's still young why risk permanent damage to your star QB :fulloffuck:

MR_BIGGS
01-09-2013, 07:07 AM
I hope RG3 has a full recovery, but his style of play will shorten his career if it hasn't already. The rules of the game have changed so much in an effort to protect QBs. I'm not saying he should change his style, but he could end up like Greg Cook if he doesn't.

If he adjusts to becoming a pocket passer like Ken Stabler did in the 70s, RG3 could extend his career when he returns. Stabler went on to win a Super Bowl title in 1977.
He had frequent knee injuries caused by being a rushing QB.

SkinnyPupp
01-09-2013, 07:09 AM
Griffin started sliding a lot more before he got injured. And the play itself was kind of a freak accident anyway, not really related to him being reckless.

lol....not sure if serious.........but I'm guessing you're being serious since you failed me......the only reason to be worried about RG3's scenario is because it's his 2nd reconstruction on that knee...That said, RG3 is just as much of an athlete as AP is, and I wouldn't exactly be surprised if he was ready to go come week 1 of next season.

Seahawks fucked it....Horrible coaching.....Why the fuck did they go for it on 4th down in the fucking 2nd quarter when they had guaranteed points with a fg and plenty of time to complete a comeback....Fucking horrible, put a little bit of faith in your team...and that was only one of the MANY mistakes this team made today...

Anyway, I'm only a Seahawks fan cuz they are "local"..I still have my Ravens to go for.

The Patriots' offence is looking good in the playoffs. 41 points by the no. 1 offence.
Brady's game is getting better and better. -good to see other receivers step up their game in the playoffs.
Shane Vereen played great with his 3 TDs! Brady sets a record with his 17th playoff game victory, breaking Joe Montana's record.

-concern with injuries to key players. -hoping that Woodhead is healthy enough to
play against the Ravens. Gronkowski is out with a broken arm. Man, the team needs him. TSN reports that he is likely out of the playoffs.

That and the "let's call time out before they try the field goal! :derp:" trick.. what the fuck is that all about. Saw it a few times this year, and just about every time it backfired on them (IE if the kick had counted, it would have gone wide, but the second chance was good)

Marshawn Lynch = Fail Mode in that game. Terrible!

Gronk is done for the rest of the season requiring another surgery on that arm. Not happy about it but they have at least the offence is used to playing with out him right now and Hernandez is still one of the top 5 TE's in the league.

Some coaches like to "ice" the kicker, to play mind games with them hoping the extra time to think about it puts more pressure on the kicker, but more often than not, it fails to work IMO, especially when it gives the kicker a practice kick basically

And so it is that Carroll has become the latest coach to wait as late as possible to ice the kicker, and to have the kicker miss the kick. And make the Mulligan.

As it turns out, Carroll was upset not because he was trying to disavow the timeout after clearly calling it. Carroll said during his post-game press conference that he was miffed because he had been told before the game that, under those circumstances, the kicker would not be allowed to kick the ball.

It’s common for coaches to talk to officials before a game about things that will or may happen during the game. Most notably, Saints coach Sean Payton gave the crew a head’s up before Super Bowl XLIV that he was planning a surprise onside kick. Carroll explained that this oddly specific topic came up on Sunday because Ravens kicker Justin Tucker apparently finagled a practice kick between overtimes on Saturday night.

What is the field goal accuracy rate after a kicker is “iced” compared to not being “iced?” – asked by @mikeregister

Since 2001 (including the playoffs), kickers have successfully hit field goals at an 81 percent rate when no timeout was called prior to the snap, and 76 percent when a timeout was called.

However, it’s worth noting that the average distance on “iced” kicks is 39 yards, compared to 36 yards on kicks on which timeout was not called.

Also interesting: In overtime, the average distance of kicks after timeouts and kicks with no timeouts called is about the same (37 yards).

In that instance, “icing the kicker” by calling timeout works. Kickers hit only 69 percent when “iced”, 87 percent when they are not.

Despite the Ravens strong defense and Flacco's ability to make the big play with the long passes, I still think the New England offense will win this game.

In particular, the Patriots running game will prevail over the Ravens defense. NFL.com article:

Offensively, I anticipate the Patriots will run the football. Counting the playoffs, the Baltimore defense has allowed 2,242 yards rushing this season. New England has scored the most rushing touchdowns this season. Offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels will exercise the running option without slowing the game down. No catching of breath, Ray Lewis.

When the Patriots run their no huddle offense, and pick up the pace of play calling, I think the Ravens defense will wear down.

I agree with the article writer about Ridley and Shane Vereen. These running backs are gonna be game changers on Sunday.

Some of the credit for the Ravens victory should go to their offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell. He changed the offensive strategy during halftime, put the football in the hands of Flacco to throw the football on first down.

Ravens' defense completely shut down Brady and the Pats defense in the second half. -They did a fine job of reading Brady's eyes, then timing their jumps and putting their hands in the air to deflect his passes.

The Patriots defense was so concerned with Flacco's long passes to his receivers like Smith that they didn't cover receivers well enough for shorter passes. The other Ray, Ray Rice, is a beast when it comes to giving out the straight arm in the red zone in order to get TDs.

Will Ray Lewis retire with a second Superbowl ring?

I'm a diehard Patriots fan. -watching today's game was really hard until the bitter end. That being said, I will be cheering for the Ravens because 1) hope to see No. 52 win a second Superbowl and b) love cheering for teams that play their best football against adversity. Baltimore faced injuries to key players, like Lewis, throughout the season. Then they switched to a different offensive coordinator in Caldwell.
They overcame so many tests and adverse moments this year to go to New Orleans.

Are the Ravens a team of destiny in Superbowl 47?

The Harbaugh parents must be jumping off their couch now, seeing both their boys coaching in the Superbowl. :fullofwin:

I have to say, the first half was pretty nerve racking. Even though the defense didn't bite on the quick snap tricks at all, they weren't going anywhere offensively. The whole "run twice throw long" that worked so well with them against Denver didn't do shit here.

Then after Talib went down they changed it up, and Joe showed that he isn't just a "big armed oaf" as one writer put it last week (http://deadspin.com/5975791/joe-flacco-the-big+armed-oaf-who-saved-baltimore). They adjusted perfectly, with midrange plays mixed up with fantastic running by all their backs and Boldin being the fucking BOSS.

Fucking awesome defense as well. Just AWESOME. I do think Whelker was hurt, probably a concussion. He looked wobbly, and when he missed that pass, that seemed to be the end of any momentum their offense had.

What a great game! Kind of worried about the 49ers, but Kaepernick really chokes at the start of each game, so it's possible that he' could choke for a full game this time :D

WES WELKER'S WIFE
Rips Ray Lewis --
He's a TERRIBLE PERSON

12:00 PM PT -- Anna just posted an apology ... "I apologize to Ray Lewis and his family for my comments. In no way did I mean for them to be mean or hurtful. I'm embarrassed for being a sore loser. I wish Ray and the Ravens good luck. Lesson learned!"

Wes Welker's wife hates Ray Lewis ... and not just because the Ravens beat the Patriots yesterday ... it's 'cause she thinks he's a terrible human being ... and she made her feelings known on Facebook.

After Sunday's AFC Championship game ... Anna Burns Welker went to her Facebook page and posted the following message:

"Proud of my husband and the Pats. By the way, if anyone is bored, please go to Ray Lewis' Wikipedia page. 6 kids 4 wives. Acquitted for murder. Paid a family off. Yay. What a hall of fame player! A true role model!"

The post has since been deleted.

FYI -- Lewis was charged with murder back in 2000 for his involvement in a fight that resulted in two deadly stabbings ... but the murder charge was dropped as part of a plea deal.

Oh yeah, the four wives thing ... Lewis has never been married -- but he does have six kids with four different women.

And you don't want to get on his bad side.

Fact is, Anna should've known better -- because last year after the Super Bowl, Tom Brady's wife Gisele Bundchen blasted Wes Welker for dropping a key pass ... and people trashed her for it.

The lesson ... when NFL wives talk, people listen.

Your thoughts about the offense and defence strategies that the 49ers and Ravens will use on Sunday?

-just a few random thoughts as I was thinking about what the coaches might do:

Running game: This will be a very interesting game within the game. Ray Rice vs. Frank Gore. If I'm the Ravens defensive coordinator, I'm gonna get my defense to do everything they can to confuse Kaepernick when he calls his plays. -give him different looks on defense, blitz him, and contain Kaepernick to make him a pocket passer.

This QB is less effective when he's not given the opportunity to run the ball. If the Ravens defence can make him stay in the pocket to throw passes, put pressure on him, and use their arms to try to block his passes, Baltimore's chances for a Superbowl will improve.

The Ravens defensive line will also try to clog up running lanes to prevent Gore from running.

Ravens' defense (D-line and secondary) and 49ers offense:

Ray Lewis and Ellerbe could also drop back in their positioning so that they have more time and space to make a zone read, -prevent huge gains by the 49ers when the QB throws the ball.

Time of possession will also be key to winning the Superbowl for both games. That's why I think the running backs will play a big role for both teams.

That being said, Kaepernick can also lead quick scoring drives down the field with his strong throwing arm.
49ers might use a mixed tempo of quick scoring plays to go down the field and use the running plays to increase time of possession to wear down the older Baltimore players.

The Ravens' defensive backs will need to have a huge game to stop the 49ers receivers.

X-Factor: Tight end Vernon Davis.

He's my pick as one of the key players on the 49ers offense to help the team win the Superbowl.

-saw Joe Flacco being interviewed by an ESPN guy on TV yesterday.
-monster game by the Superbowl MVP!

Joe is gonna cash in with a new contract with the Ravens now that he's a free agent.
Props to the quarterback for a big game on Sunday.

He deserves every penny in his new contract based on his playoff performance.
11 touchdowns, zero interceptions in the post season for Joe. :fullofwin:

-definitely think that Baltimore will give Flacco the franchise tag. Here is what Flacco's agent thinks about the new contract:

Source: Joe Flacco of Baltimore Ravens does 'Late Show' with David Letterman - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8915920/joe-flacco-baltimore-ravens-does-late-show-david-letterman)

Last week, Flacco's agent, Joe Linta, said he and Ravens general manager Ozzie Newsome recently had brief discussions about a new deal, but nothing was done.

"The onus is on them to make a move after this week," said Linta, who recognizes that the Ravens could slap the franchise tag on Flacco for 2013 at a cost of about $14.6 million. "I would guess they want to keep him. He's 28, in the prime of his football life, has never missed a game. His resume on the table is outstanding and his future is even brighter."

Another ESPN article: http://espn.go.com/nfl/playoffs/2012/story/_/id/8912448/super-bowl-xlvii-joe-flacco-right-money

How much should the Ravens pay Flacco? Is he worth as much as Drew Brees? Brees signed a 5 year, 100 million contract. My guess is somewhere in the range of 18 to 19 million US per year for Flacco.

Most Ravens fans think Kruger will sign with another team... man it would be great to see him on the Seahawks! But I have no idea what their situation is in terms of cap space.

Is it like the NHL where good UFA's end up signing with crappy teams willing to overspend? I guess it also depends on the player, if they want to go for a payday or take a cut to try to win a ring...

Darrelle Revis and Richard Sherman on the same dam team? Top 2 CB's in the league!

Darrelle Revis: Which teams will go after Jets CB? - NFL.com (http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000130940/article/darrelle-revis-which-teams-will-go-after-jets-cb)

Seattle Seahawks: The Seahawks love physical cornerbacks who can play man coverage tight to the line of scrimmage. They weren't afraid to be bold in past moves. They are in the NFC, which should be an advantage. And Jets GM John Idzik has a close relationship with the Seahawks front office. Despite a strong pair of starting cornerbacks, this could be the most logical fit.

Some talks fitz might be on the move as well in AZ

What's kinda funny to me is that for most the last decade, they had such a good defense but a pretty bad offense. This year, their defense was middle of the pack but they ended up winning it all.

Anyway, I don't think Flacco is worth 100 million. That's just crazy.

IMO it's like this:
Tier 1 - Brady/Peyton/Rodgers
Tier 2 - Brees
Tier 3 - Roethlisberger/Eli/Ryan/Flacco

Ravens vs Packers will be fun

And rematches with the Pats and Broncos

As for the Seahawks, no chance for a home game against Baltimore.. if there was and it was in Seattle I might have made a trip back... so that saves me some money :D

Dude they were 4th and 29! And that was their last possession, Chargers would have won. He caught it at like 7 yards and ran for the rest of the 30! No matter what team you're playing, that is AMAZING. This will be one of the plays of the year

Should the Patriots take the gamble to trade Welker for Percy Harvin?

-make a move for a younger, more athletic player or stay with Welker?

ESPN reports about Harvin wanting to leave the Minnesota Vikings.

Poll Friday: Wes Welker or Percy Harvin? - AFC East Blog - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/55223/poll-friday-wes-welker-or-percy-harvin)

Harvin: 24 year old slot receiver, one of the best athletes in the league.

history of issues with two different coaches. health issues with
migraines.

A high risk, high reward player.

Welker: -lost his franchise tag with the Patriots.

31 years old slot receiver.
-very productive seasons with New England.

However, Welker has dropped passes in critical moments of the Patriots playoff run this season and last season. The dropped pass during the AFC championship game against the Ravens is a pass that comes to mind. Another dropped pass, in last year's Superbowl against the Giants, also by Welker.

I'm a Patriots fan. Welker has played well under Belichek's system. I think it's time for New England to go for a younger, more explosive athlete in Harvin. As for the character issues with Harvin, can the coach help this dude become a mature, responsible guy?
