Matt Ryan and Nick Foles played bad in the first game of the season. -5 straight incompletions to end a poor game by Ryan.

Foles played nowhere near his level that brought the Eagles to a Superbowl win.

-wonder why Philly didn't change their strategy to play a running game instead. Ajayi barely saw the ball in the first quarter. Clement and Sproles barely got touches on the ball for rushing.

Falcons suck in the red zone.

The best part of the game was Boyz II Men singing the U.S. national anthem. :lawl:

Andy Dalton looked pretty decent in the first half, Flacco's throws were pretty bad for the most part. I didn't like Ravens play calling at all, would have liked to see a more balanced game plan. I know they got behind early but they could have used more screen passes and a little bit more running to open up the passing game.

Offensive play calling has always been weird post SB. Everyone made fun of "run run pass" but it actually worked back then. Now they don't seem to know what to do.

Defense shit the bed early though, so there wasn't much hope. They made Dalton look good, he looked more like himself after, IMO

Browns have been fun to watch this year! Bunch of young talent who wants to win bad and they play well like a team with Josh Gordon gone

Mayfield looks great too. A bit inaccurate but that will come in no time, just based on his college performance. Hyde is looking great as well. Their D has to be the best in the league at this point!

It's like Cleveland won the Super Bowl last night! It was great to see classy sportsmanship by the Jets. I can't stand Hue Jackson. He was still defending Typhoid Taylor post-match with nonsensical garble.

Their D really shined towards the end of the game and Mayfield helped to shift momentum in CLE's favour.

Their kicker won a kicking competition this past Monday. That's how he got the job. He beat Blair Walsh LUL

Coach Belichick admitted to reporters in the post game media conference that his team was out played and coached.

[emoji35]

This team is without many key players right now that can help them play better. This team hasn't lost two straight games since 2015. No excuses for the losses. The opposing teams kicked their asses! SwiftRage

No Trey Flowers means no pass rush. Josh Gordon is gonna get some limited play packages given that he'll need more time to understand the Pats offensive playbook.

Edelman is returning to play against the Dolphins for this coming Sunday.

Pats need to play with a sense of urgency and start games much better than the last two games they played against the Jaguars and Lions! SwiftRage

Adam Thielen went off once again, 6 straight 100+ yard games. This guy is awesome in so many ways, not drafted from Minnesota tried out for the Vikings and worked his way up off the practice squad eventually got a chance on special teams and after a year of that finally earned a regular spot. He's now one of the best route runners in the NFL, love watching this guy. The best part about it is he's not the quickest, not the most skilled but he works hard every game, every play and he's Mr. clutch when you need a first down.

And yeah lots of comparisons to Vick... But IMO Lamar has even more potential. At the same time, he misses quite a few 'easy' throws as much as he makes the insane ones. We shall see!

The key is they were able to completely change how they play midway through the season, and the rest of the league hasn't caught up. It's kind of like we saw in 2013 with RGIII and Kaepernick. Seahawks are kind of doing the same thing this year. IMO the contenders for coach of the year are Harbaugh and Carroll.

First round will be Chargers, who they destroyed a week ago, but that is only an advantage for LA, as they are the first team to have the opportunity to adjust after experiencing the Ravens style

New Orleans got robbed for that uncalled penalty
Another Year....

The refs did fuck that up but to be fair Sean Peyton cost them the game at the end of the 4th quarter.

They have 1st down on the 13 yard line, 1:58 left in the game. The Rams have 2 time outs and he throws the ball on 1st down?

All logic says you run the ball 3 plays and kick your field goal, they burn their two time outs and instead of them getting the ball back with 1:26 left they get it back with around 40 seconds and no time outs. Yes the refs fucked up it never should have gotten to that point terrible clock management.

SkinnyPupp
01-21-2019, 03:27 PM
The Saints mishandled that last possession so bad... The only way it could have gone worse was a turnover.

Yes the refs blew that call, but that was one call in the entire game. It happens a lot too, look at the blown roughing the passer call vs Brady.

They're talking about making ALL calls reviewable, but that would just slow the game down so much. I don't want to watch 3 hours of replays, and on top of that not all calls are clear when run at full speed.

Actually this very call, when viewed in full speed, looked very close. But I don't think they showed a single replay running at real time speed. Everything was super slow motion to make it look as bad as possible.

So anyway, if the Rams can't figure out a way to get to Brady, it's going to be another boring year that "fans" can celebrate.

Rams game was exciting, after a bad start I was worried it would be a rout. That NO crowd is just so loud!

Patriots game had a similar start, but it just turned to frustration as you just have to watch in horror as Brady just goes Brady on your team. Mahomes makes a lot of insane plays and throws, but misses a lot of basic passes.

Congrats to the Super Bowl
Champion New England Patriots! Super Bowl MVP Edelman played an excellent game! All the doubters and haters of New England need to keep quiet! A sixth championship for Brady and coach Belichik! Never ever underestimate the heart of a champion. Pats defence sack Goff four times. [emoji23] Big credit to the Pats defence. You do not win a Superbowl when you cannot score a TD. -bad mistake by Rams not to double team Edelman earlier in the game. What a game by Julian! Who thinks this team is an underdog now? Defence, teamwork, discipline. [emoji123] #Superbowlchampions [emoji471]

People complaining about the game, but I thought it was a great defensive battle for the most part. Goff just isn't ready for that stage yet. We saw that a few times this season.

Predictable outcome. Can we be done with the Patriots now? Just go away, and take your shitty fans with you EleGiggle (they'll be gone anyway as soon as they become anything less than the best team ever)

I wish the Pats would go away too. I mean they do have two notable scandals under their belt.

Anyway, I love watching defensive games and this one didn't fail. No touchdown until just over 7 minutes into the 3rd quarter says something.

An interesting week in the league. Bell signs with the Jets for more guaranteed money compared to the Steelers (35 million vs. 10 million).

OBJ is traded to the Browns. Odell plays with his buddy Jarvis Landry now. Cleveland looks great on paper: Mayfield, OBJ, Landry, Kareem Hunt and defensive tackle Sheldon Richardson.

Earl Thomas signs with the Ravens for a big contract.

What a diva! Antonio Brown was 25 minutes late in attending a press conference with Raiders coaching staff. :lawl:

People picking the Browns to win it all is fucking so hilarious to me... At the very least, they should be exciting to watch. And who knows what kind of drama is going to happen whereever OBJ goes. I am looking forward to seeing what he can do with a competent QB.

I was worried about the Ravens, after they got gutted losing Suggs and Weddle, and even worse, losing Mosley. Suggs and Weddle are past their primes (still hate to see them go though), but Mosley has been the best performing Raven lately. But picking up Earl Thomas is HUGE. Dude is a MONSTER.

If AB was MENTALLY STABLE, would I want him to play for the Patriots?
Of course! His football talent is in never in doubt. His mental state, behaviour, and level of maturity are certainly questionable.

The big problem is that the Patriots are taking a gamble on signing this clown even on a short term 1 year contract. :fulloffuck:

Look at the mess that he caused for the Raiders. The raiders should not have traded Amari Cooper to the Cowboys.

You want to see a reckless QB, watch Wentz. I said from day 1 he was just asking to be injured the way he plays. Sure enough he got hurt (turned out great with BDN replacing him though)

You don't think running for 100+ yards a game he's not one of the most likely QB's to end up injured, it's not sustainable long term. I mean Michael Vick played a long time and stayed relatively healthy but Lamar runs twice as much as even he did. I really don't think it's a matter of if but when.

I think you should watch Lamar play before making any determinations or comparing him to any other players. Or if you're going to compare, think more along the lines of Patrick Mahomes... He racks up a lot of yardage, but they're all 8-10 yard plays, right to the sideline, usually without getting touched.

Time for Kapernick to Steelers?

I dunno, Rudolph actually did better vs the Seahawks than Ben did before he hurt his elbow LUL

Also they traded their 1st round pick (which may be a high one) to Miami for a DB... So I assume they believe in Rudolph (or at least they think Ben will be fully recovered for next season?)

Still need a backup just in case lightning strikes twice. Can't hurt to sign him for one year as insurance

How about now? Damn ... he was KO'd before he hit the ground!

Pats wins again! 6-0, baby!!

Offence and defence was firing on all cylinders.

The Giants played tough defence until the end when they ran out of gas.

Brady with 2 rushing TDS. Touchdowns from blocked punt and interception. He becomes the second in all time passing yards tonight after surpassing Peyton.

Edelman with a good performance tonight.

Another pretty boring TNF game with two kind of shitty offenses due to injuries etc... Pats weren't "firing on all cylinders" lol, they had like two long drives the whole game, to go with a blocked punt and a fumble return and a short drive after the turnover.

Danny looked lost out there at times, but at others was throwing great passes. I think he will develop well. Giants were without Saquon and Engram so it's amazing this game was as close as it was for a lot of the time.

What a bunch of crazy games today! I chose the wrong afternoon game, thinking LA vs SF would be a banger, but LA just sucks now. At least they did today and vs the Bucs a couple weeks ago. 3 losses in a row.

So happy for the Jets though. Darnold comes back and gets them their first win of the season, against one of the best teams in the league. Refs tried as much as they could to ruin the game, but they overcame in the end.

Going to quickly check out the Texans game and the Seahawks game. I was keeping an eye on the Seahawks score and was starting to get worried, but with Mayfield giving up 3 interceptions, they got the comeback. I rarely ever root AGAINST a team (except for the Patriots because their fans suck) or a player, but the Browns hype was particularly annoying this summer, and I am kind of glad to see them fail. WOW you ALMOST went .500 last season, better plan the Super Bowl parade! FailFish

Lamar with 152 rushing yards tops the NFL this week SeemsGood. First player in NFL history to have over 150 rushing and 200 passing in a game SeemsGood Bengals offense sucked but their D really improved after the first quarter.

Yeah, they overpaid IMO. They aren't going to have any money for anyone else with guys like Gurley, Donald, Goff and now Ramsey. A good chunk of that group of receivers they have there will be leaving when it's time to get paid.

They also haven't had a 1st round pick in 3 years and won't have one for at least another 2. They peaked to early, nowhere to go but down IMO.

Peters pays off immediately, gives Russ his first INT of the season and it's a pick 6. Humphery with another fumble recovery for TD

They look good but I'm curious how they'll do against a decent defense.

They've played the following teams, Dolphins 30th ranked D, Cardinals 29th ranked D, Chiefs 25th Ranked D, Browns 23rd Ranked, Steelers 14th ranked, Bengals 32nd D and Seahawks 15th.

They've feasted on some terrible Defenses, I realize they don't set the schedule and they've done what they had to do but I'm curious how they do against a team like NE, SF, Chicago ect...

I mean each team only plays against 13 of the other teams.. You can only look at what is actually accomplished. Also the reason these teams are ranked the way they are is partially BECAUSE they played the Ravens LUL Patriots are 6-0 so far this season, and the total combined record of those teams is 11-25. They only played one team with more than 2 wins. Not going to hold that against them though, because 6 of those losses are because of the Patriots

I'm not sure why we have to ignore every single accomplishment teams and players make, presumably until after the Super Bowl is over. It's so weird to try to dampen fans excitement that way. Seems kind of pointless and a bit dick-ish. I'm not planning a SB parade, I'm just saying Lamar is awesome and the team is really fun to watch (and I watch a lot of football lol)]

That being said, the schedule definitely gets harder from here on. Pats up next, then Texans, then they have to deal with Bosa and the 49ers, , and they play the Bills IN Buffalo which is hard. Scary schedule for sure

It's just a matter of time before he falls off the wagon, I know it's a dick thing to say but honestly I wouldn't be surprised if it already happened this year but wasn't made public and that's why the Patriots cut him.

It's like when he got clean and took a "personal" leave from Cleveland that personal leave was rehab because he relapsed for the nth time. I know he originally wasn't playing for NE because of injury but seems kind of weird they cut him for no apparent reason as he's getting ready to come back, it doesn't make sense and like my good friend Judge Judy always says if it doesn't make sense it's not true.

I could barely watch LUL Even if you're 3 scores up on the Pats, you can't assume they won't just turn things around with some fluky turnovers and weird circumstances, along with Brady being Brady.

For once, the refs called a perfect game with no bullshit. What a relief! And almost all luck didn't go in Patriots favor this time. You won't believe how good it feels to watch Edelman fumble and give up a TD as a Pats "hater" (or I prefer "rival") LUL

One thing I noticed is Brady and Belichick were losing their cool after the game was out of hand. Bill is usually pretty bitchy, but he looked furious at times. Maybe that's normal...

But Tom seemed to be having a crisis of some sort at one point on the sideline, head in his hands, talking to himself, just completely out of it. And it's not like it was just after a turnover or anything, it was just in the middle of a Ravens drive. So weird.

I watched Vikings/Chiefs, Seahawks/Bucs and Ravens/Patriots, what a fucking fantastic day of football! It sure kept my mind off other shit going on for a while SeemsGood

Kaep wanted to have a workout open to the public, so they moved it to a high school. Oh BTW the school is actually closer to the airport if what I've read is true.

We'll have to agree to disagree, he lost his job before he was kneeling so I'm not really sure where you're going with that. Why do you think he lost his job if it wasn't for his play and he was benched before kneeling?

If you're a good player you can get a way with a lot, Tyreek Hill can beat children and play, Kareem Hunt can kick woman in the face on camera and still play.

Don't get it twisted he was a huge pain in the ass with the kneeling issue but when it comes down to if he had talent like real starter talent where a team was like this guy can help us he would have been signed. He was offered a contract by Denver after the Niners but turned it down either because of the money or the position they were offering him.

Would he be one of the top 64 QB's in the NFL? Possibly but he's not worth the headache.

Ray Rice was winding down a bit had he had Alvin Kamara, Dalvin Cook or Barkley talent at the time he beat the shit out of his wife he would have been back in the league as well after the suspension. If you have talent they'll overlook a lot, it's like a sliding scale talent vs headache the more of a headache you are the more talent you need. Kaepernick might be the 53rd best QB in the NFL right now today and deserves a backup job but the push back from some fans and the media attention it brings and the distraction to the locker room makes him unsignable for most. If he had Lamar Jackson or Mahomes talent he'd be playing right now....but he doesn't.

Kap says he wants his job back but his actions look like he couldn't care less. You can't publicly call out the CEO and a bunch of execs at a job interview and expect good results. NFL is a private business and its a privilege to play as a QB, not a right...

I think it's more that he knows he'll never get his job back, and is trying to make the most of it by spreading his message further, and hey might as well get some Nike promo in as well.

I'll admit when I'm wrong, I honestly didn't think that much of Lamar going into this season. I thought he was a good running back playing QB with an average arm who was going to get killed playing the style he does.

I was wrong, the kid can ball and the coaching is setting him up for success. I hope he stays healthy for a long time because he sure is fun to watch.

SkinnyPupp
11-26-2019, 03:09 PM
Honestly back then nobody knew he'd be this good back then, and I was just playing around. After the Browns loss, they completely revamped the defense, and that is what is allowing Lamar to shine so much. He only plays 3 quarters a game because the other team not only gets shit on, they can't score either.

Compare this to last year's megastar Mahomes, who was just as brilliant but still had to fight for these huge high score wins, because their defense wasn't nearly as good. Or Russ this year, just about every game is a final drive comeback.

Lamar is getting all the attention, and deservedly so, but I think people are sleeping on the Ravens D. They kept Brady, Russ, Deshaun, Goff, and whoever the Bengals QB is, to like 3 touchdowns TOTAL.

It feels weird as a fan, because of all my life of following different sports, I have never been a fan of 'the best team'. Though I suppose the Canucks were up there during the WCE day. This time, it just happened naturally. Every game is more nerve racking than the last, because expectations are so high. But they've been meeting them every time.

I can finally breathe after 3 hours Kreygasm

Super Bowl preview? I don't think my heart could take it. 49ers are as good as everyone says, and adjusted both their offense and defense well.

Closer than it should have been maybe, with two absolute bullshit calls going 49ers way, one giving them a 4th conversion, the other cancelling our 3rd conversion (and the refs have been totally fair pretty much the entire season in the games I've watched, so this isn't something I often bring up).

Edit: And the Patriots lose! What a day! PogChamp

Gives me PTSD..........

Actually had a lot of fun going to this game with my son, the Seahawks fans were actually really great and friendly. I met a bunch of Vikings fans from Minny as well, I bet 20% of the stadium was Vikes fans which was more than I was expecting.

Results wise not to my liking, Vikings defense played like ass which has been the same way they've been playing for a while now. The D used to be their strength now it's the elephant in the room. Cousins was suspect now he's putting up 30+ every game, not sure what more they can ask from him.

Overall good time, parking is expensive probably better off staying at a hotel and ubering the parking will be half your hotel bill for the night.

Yeah I was surprised by how many Vikings fans I saw on TV! Impressive!

It was an amazing game, too bad it didn't go your way as a Viks fan. Cousins has proven to be a good signing for them after all (earlier in the thread we were both VERY doubtful!) but somehow their D has gotten weaker. Especially Rhodes, what's going on with him?

Apparently Cook will be back, so that's good at least

Vikings will probably finish 11-5 or 12-4 with an easy schedule, but unfortunately the fudge packers have an easy one as well. Good luck!

Good job KC !!

Barn burner in New Orleans ... SF really learning how to play in the clutch. They looked tentative against Seahawks a few weeks ago but it looks like they are maturing at the right time.

The Pats offence, especially Brady, played awful!

Interception, dropped passes. The list goes on and on.

the Chief's defence stepped up big time to match their potent offence.

Mahomes played really well.

I gotta say though the refs missed some calls on penalties that favoured KC.

There's no way that N'Keal Harry stepped out of bounds on the 3 yard line!
That was a TD pass! There is no way that is a non-TD call!

Belichick used up his coaching challenge earlier in the game. Otherwise, he would have sure challenged that non-call on pass interference late in the fourth quarter. The refs were horrible!

That being said, hats off to KC for outplaying the Pats on their home field.
Full marks for the win.

On to Cincinnati!

I actually feel bad for the Patriots players, they have by far the worst fans in all of the NFL. Imagine booing your 10-2 team off the field at halftime? Absolute trash home crowd. We rarely see it, since they rarely lose at home, but when they do the fans turn on them so quick, it's literally disgusting. If I was a Pats fan it would be unbearable. They almost got the win too, despite being outplayed, with all sorts of craziness with blocked punts and trick plays. KC held on in a fun game though.

SF vs NO was just INSANE! I only caught the last quarter, but man I love it when games live up to the hype. I don't get how SF gives up that many points though, but it was just one of those games. Kind of like LAR vs KC last year.

A lot of the time a team will win a big game like this and come out flat next week. Guess we'll see. Not sure who SF is playing next week, and I still haven't watched the Seahawks game so I have to avoid spoilers.

As for Ravens vs Bills, not an exciting game but still a nerve wracking one. I had this game pinned as a loss for most of the season - even during this run. The Bills at home are easily one of the best defenses in the league. Unfortunately for them their offense doesn't live up to it, and the Ravens had one of their old school dominant defensive wins. I heard Allen was getting better, so I don't know if this game was an aberration or not. He looked awful on a lot of passes, wind notwithstanding. Like I said, everyone is talking about Lamar, but the Ravens defense is for real.

Offensive play calling was really weird. They didn't seem to want Lamar to take the ball as much (but when he did, oh boy), and passing was bad since it was so windy. Some weird trick plays that didn't work at all, and when that happens they just look bad LUL

I was almost sure they'd blow this one but the D held up, despite the refs giving them like 60+ yards of BS penalties in the final quarter. Seriously, the most ridiculous calls! I know this is 2 weeks in a row complaining about refs, but I rarely do this and it has been really brutal the last 2 weeks. This time it went both ways, but that final Bills drive was just disgusting.

Hope Andrews is OK

Final play of the game, Marcus Peters seems to be working out pretty well SeemsGood

Yup impressive comeback, albeit against a very non impressive team lol

There aren't many actually consistently awful teams in the NFL. Pretty much it's just the Dolphins, Bengals (and even they can put up a fight and have lost close ones), Redskins, and Giants. Jets go back and forth between trash and decent, and I guess the Jags are there now as well.

This is kind of why I don't like the argument that a winning team isn't good, based on their schedule aside from these teams (who BTW make up for 5 of the Patriots wins, and 2 of their last 3 games are against these teams, but that's neither here nor there :troll: ).. Just about any team can beat any other team. Broncos beat the Texans last week. Except for these actually awful teams, any win is a good win.

I can see why the Patriots are cheating to beat the Bengals, they actually have a chance to win at home. I do hope they get busted and punished hard. Their players don't deserve it, but their owners and fans do.

[B]Reports: NFL investigating Patriots for filming opponents

Nothing surprises me anymore with the Pats. As a Pats fan, I've seen Spygate in 2007, Deflate, and now this incident.

Belichick and his coaching staff are cheaters. Although it puts an asterisk on all of their Superbowl championships, it doesn't take away their rings. :troll:

The Pats also have an owner who was caught getting a happy ending at a spa this year. Talk about being busted in more ways than one. :jizz:

As more info on this comes out, it is pretty clear that they were doing what they did in 07. Blatantly recording sideline signals.

They have to come down hard on them this time. Maybe suspend Belichick for a year and take a draft pick?

I wonder what this does for Bill's legacy, considered the greatest coach of all time, hands down. But if he's been doing this all along (and he was for a long time before getting caught the first time) it pretty much confirms that a lot of credit has to go to him cheating. Also what else is he doing that he's getting away with?

He likes Marijuana and Alcohol a lot more than he likes football, I just hope he squirreled some of that money he made this year away because I believe he'll be hard pressed to get the NFL to reinstate him again anytime soon. At some point he's going to have to get a real job, doubt he's made enough money over the years to last him forever considering the amount of time he's missed through suspension over the years (Unless he lives your average Joe lifestyle and saved most of it which is very unlikely). I was just looking at his salary this year he made about 260K for the seahawks based on his salary and about 760k for the 6 games he played for the Patriots prorated for the games he's played.

If you think addicts do what they do because they "like" it, I don't think you know any addicts.

BTW his brother died last month apparently. Pretty obvious way to trigger a relapse.

Feel really bad for the guy, but yeah I don't know if he'll be given yet another chance. If the drug in question is just weed though, they really should just allow it. I think they will after the next CBA.
