Should've gone to Harvin or Chancellor, but even Cliff Avril and Russell were far more deserving.....Smith got a 69-yard pick-six which was caused by pressure on Manning and he got a fumble recovery by basically being at the right place at the right time....decision was clearly made just by looking at the box-score.

Browns and several sources have since confirmed Niners and Browns had talks about a trade for Harbaugh. "Combustible", pretty much another way of saying unhinged, whining and trantrum throwing haha.

Jim Harbaugh viewed as a “combustible commodity”

Posted by Darin Gantt on February 22, 2014, 1:31 PM EST

While the 49ers and coach Jim Harbaugh have denied that there was a deal in place for him to go to Cleveland, the reality is that he and the team are involved in a complicated relationship.

And that didn’t just develop recently.

As reactions come in to Mike Florio’s report yesterday that a trade was agreed to with the Browns before Harbaugh decided to stay, more evidence is coming to light of the delicate balance the 49ers are trying to maintain.

In a lengthy and detailed look at the background between the team and the coach, Tim Kawakami of the San Jose Mercury News paints a picture of Harbaugh as high-maintenance.

Harbaugh is described as “a combustible commodity who has 49ers HQ very unsettled most days and now he’s coming up on a contract extension that he really thought he deserved last year, so things are a little pent-up between coach and management.”

Kawakami paints a picture of the internal push-pull between General Manager Trent Baalke and Harbaugh, one which includes some drama but a good result for the organization.

The wins have come, but it seems that Harbaugh’s high-strung personality has worn some people out as well.

Any collection of high-achievers who are driven to win will inevitably create an atmosphere that includes some tension. But it seems that within the 49ers organization, that tension has built to a point that a future without Harbaugh has been considered.

And perhaps welcomed.

Yes, I saw the video, and I saw the police report. It's pretty bad but we have to wait and see what happened to know for sure.

What I did notice is that during his struggles last season, he lost his temper a few times. He got a few unsportsmanlike penalties, but you kind of expect that sometimes when a player is 'on the edge'. However now I wonder if it was an indication of an underlying issue

If he uppercutted his fiance and knocked her out, I hope they fire him. Because fuck that. Even if he does a lot for the community (and he absolutely does) I don't see how anyone can support a guy like that. He is a huge part of the anti-bullying movement, but spousal abuse is a pretty big issue too!

7seven
03-12-2014, 08:27 PM
Tate has flashes of brilliance but is way too inconsistent to be counted on, personally I'd rather the Seahawks extend Baldwin and look at WR and OL in the draft. There are a number of interesting WR that could fall late into round 1 and maybe round 2, Evans, Odell-Beckham, Marquis Lee, Kelvin Benjamin, Cooks.

Bryant and Clemons were necessary casualties to resign Bennett, so I'm ok with that. Seahawks and Jared Allen are kicking the tires, he would be a good fit on a short term deal.

Can't believe the Jets gave all that money to Decker, he's a very average slot receiver, Peyton inflated his numbers big time. He's in for a disaster with Geno Smith at the helm in NY.

I like what Denver has done getting Ware and Ward to shore up that D. Talib is an improvement too but to me he is a ticking time bomb with legal issues and pot is legal in Colorado, so that should be trouble for him.

Really though I get it. You don't like players with attitude. For me, it can fit into a team's chemistry and become a weapon in itself. Turns out to be false ,thank jeebus. I want no part of DeSean in the Seahawks locker room, this guy is the definition of selfish and a moody pansy. Remember two years ago when all he would do is sulk on the bench and not talk to his teammates or coaches, sitting alone away from everyone. Then just a couple months ago, he starts complaining he isn't paid enough and wants to renegotiate his contract paying him $10 mil per, when only two years ago he just got a renegotiated contract paying him a huge signing bonus.

Seahawks have ?no interest at all? in DeSean Jackson | ProFootballTalk (http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2014/03/23/seahawks-have-no-interest-at-all-in-desean-jackson/)

Seahawks have “no interest at all” in DeSean Jackson

Amid a report that the Seahawks have expressed interest in Eagles receiver DeSean Jackson, a source with direct knowledge of the team’s thinking tells PFT that the Seahawks have “no interest at all” in Jackson.

The Seahawks are one of several teams that have been linked to Jackson. The 49ers have denied a report that they have interest in Jackson. Jets owner Woody Johnson has said that his team is interested.

It never made sense for the Seahawks to be interested in Jackson, given the financial commitment already made to receiver Percy Harvin, and the looming necessity of paying cornerback Richard Sherman, safety Earl Thomas, and quarterback Russell Wilson.

If Peterson is available in your fantasy league you might want to put a claim in for him before this weeks deadline it looks like he'll be back this year and could be back as early as next week depending what the NFL does.

Adrian Peterson of Minnesota Vikings to enter plea to lesser charge than felony child abuse charge, avoid jail time - ESPN (http://espn.go.com/nfl/story/_/id/11819670/adrian-peterson-minnesota-vikings-enter-plea-lesser-charge-felony-child-abuse-charge-avoid-jail)

Minnesota Vikings star Adrian Peterson avoided jail time Tuesday in a plea agreement reached with prosecutors to resolve his child abuse case.

Under the agreement approved by Montgomery County state District Judge Kelly Case and announced during a scheduled court hearing, Peterson pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor charge of reckless assault.

Case deferred a finding of guilt for two years while imposing a $4,000 fine and 80 hours of community service on Peterson.

Adrian Peterson has missed a total of 10 games since the beginning of the 2013 season. But the Vikings have fared pretty well in their running game without Peterson. Minnesota is averaging more rushing yards per game as a team and has scored more rushing touchdowns in games that Peterson has not played in since the beginning of last year.

"I'm just glad I this is over," Peterson said shortly after Tuesday's plea deal was announced. "I can put this behind me, and me and my family can move forward."

Peterson was indicted in September on a felony charge of injury to a child for using a wooden switch to discipline his 4-year-old son earlier this year in suburban Houston. The All-Pro running back says he never intended to harm his son and was disciplining him in the same way he had been as a child growing up in East Texas.

The boy suffered cuts, marks and bruising to his thighs, back and on one of his testicles, according to court records. If convicted of felony child abuse, he could have faced up to two years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

"I truly regret this incident," Peterson said. "I take full responsibility for my actions. I love my son more than anyone you could even imagine, and I'm anxious to continue my relationship with my child."

The NFL and the Vikings have not yet decided on whether they will suspend Peterson, who already has missed eight games with pay this season under the terms of the commissioner's exempt list.

League spokesperson Brian McCarthy did not offer a timetable for when the NFL will make a decision, telling ESPN's Ben Goessling that the league "will review the court documents."

Last month, a visiting judge denied a request by prosecutors to remove Case as judge in the case. Prosecutors had accused Case of being biased against them and wanted a new judge appointed.

The plea deal made moot a pending motion by prosecutors to revoke Peterson's $15,000 bond for alleged marijuana use.

The NFL Players Association expects that the league will punish Peterson as it would any other player determined to be guilty of a misdemeanor, league sources told ESPN's Ed Werder.

The union will likely argue, sources told Werder, that Peterson, who has been paid his full salary of nearly $5.3 million in his absence, should be reinstated and perhaps forced to pay a substantial fine -- surrendering part of the income he's been receiving.

Only commissioner Roger Goodell can reinstate Peterson from the exempt list, meaning the two could be required to meet.

Carolina Panthers defensive end Greg Hardy, who is facing a trial for a domestic violence charge, also was placed on the exempt list in September.

Both players agreed as part of a deal that they would be ineligible to play until their cases are adjudicated, but that they would receive full compensation until that time.

Once Goodell reinstates Peterson, presuming the commissioner eventually does so, the Vikings would either have to allow the running back to return to the team or be required to release him.

Vikings general manager Rick Spielman declined to comment on Peterson during his midseason news conference Tuesday.

"All I'm going to say is basically at the appropriate time, and I know you guys can appreciate this, we'll keep all of our comments under the Adrian situation until it's appropriate to speak," Spielman said. "And I'll just leave it at that."

The Vikings' position on all of this remains a mystery. They have been silent since Peterson was put on the exempt list, so there is uncertainty as to whether the Vikings are willing to reinsert Peterson into their lineup.

Vikings coach Mike Zimmer was asked about Peterson on Monday as the team began its bye week, and he made it clear he judges Peterson based on his own personal interactions and considers him to be "top-notch, first-class."

A prolific player at his position, Peterson set an NFL record with 296 rushing yards against San Diego on this date in 2007.

The case revived a debate about corporal punishment, which is on the decline in the U.S. but still widely practiced in homes and schools.

Corporal punishment is legal in every state. The Texas Attorney General's Office notes that belts and brushes "are accepted by many as legitimate disciplinary 'tools,'" but "electrical or phone cords, boards, yardsticks, ropes, shoes, and wires are likely to be considered instruments of abuse."

Texas law says the use of non-deadly force against someone younger than 18 is justified if a parent or guardian "reasonably believes the force is necessary to discipline the child or to safeguard or promote his welfare."

ESPN's Ed Werder, ESPN's Michele Steele, ESPN.com Vikings reporter Ben Goessling and The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Me either, I don't think there was anything to it just a really horrible decision by the linesman saying from his angle that he didn't think the contact warranted a PI call, but it doesn't help that the NFL already took issue with the head of officiating being photographed on the Cowboys party bus earlier this year, just bad optics.

With the way PI calls effect the game nowdays, I think it should be challengeable by the coaches.

Go Patriots! What a game between the Patriots and the Ravens! Brady's playoff experience and some timely interceptions by the secondary were the difference in the game.

Flacco is one heck of a quarterback. New England is the first team in postseason history to win a playoff game after being down 2 touchdowns twice in a game. This game could have gone either team's way.

Thank goodness for Gronkowski. Baltimore had no answer for him.

Edelman's gamechanging TD pass to Amendola. That Kent State QB experience paid off today: :fuckyea:

One of the Pats' weapons which many teams, including the Seahawks, do not have an answer for is no. 87. Gronkowski is a beast when it comes to making big catches, especially in third down situations.

He has the size, strength, and speed to intimidate any opposing team's defence.

I've been a Patriots fan since 2001. If the Patriots play the Seahawks for the Superbowl, Gronk can be the game changer. Brady just needs to make good passes to Gronk and let the beast do his thing.

Edelman and Amendola are not too shabby either. :smug:

That Seattle comeback was one of the most amazing sporting events I've ever seen. Everything before that was brutal, but after that fake field goal TD, they were unstoppable.

But man that Pats game was a stinker. Running the score up on them was not fun to watch...

I have to say, the way they declare guys eligible and ineligible on just about every play, yes I know it's within the rules. But it is a really smelly way to play the game. It's especially bad when the ref declares the guy, and they snap the ball right after that. That is bullshit to me... The rules state that the defending team needs "reasonable time" to react to the declaration. Look back at the game last week where Harbaugh got the penalty... It was because the ref declared him to one player, and the play started right after that. They did that a few times in this game too, and it worked every time.

I'm very interested to see what Seattle's gamplan is for Gronk. In the NFC Championship Seattle looked pretty ugly on D, but have shown that they are pretty dominant when on point. That said, Gronk.

It's too bad Sherman was injured (by Earl Thomas too I think which stinks). Given how bad it looked at the time and during the rest of the game, I'm not so sure 2 weeks is enough to get it close to 100%.

Again this is within the rules (sort of.. the refs need to control the pace better) but what a gross way to win. Pats are such a shit team to watch. They have some amazing players, Brady and Gronk and Blount. But man what a brutal game... And after all that, they keep trying to run the score up on them... Fuck the Pats, I really hope they get blown out like the Broncos did.

The Pats were playing the game and they didn't really run the score up they ran the ball at the end of the game and the showed why they are where they are. This is the AFC Championship and if Wilson plays like his did against the Packers in the Super Bowl the Pat's will eat them alive. The Pats are firing on all cylinders right now and the Hawks better be ready cause Brady is coming for that 4th ring to guarantee him being named the best QB in NFL history.

Thank got for the Steelers releasing Blount at the end of the season since its made the Pats that deeper of a threat and I honestly can't see the Hawks beating the Pats right now especially with the injuries they seem to have.

Hate the way he plays his game but Belicheck is the greatest coach in NFL history, the way his plays might be dirty in your eyes but man its smart and keeps other teams thinking which is a big part of the game!!

I'm just happy I'm been a die hard pats fan for 15+ years and it feels great to see them win like thy have. The showed against the Ravens they came come back and win and know how to play with a lead unlike the Packers!!

-Going for it on 4th and 4 in the 4th quarter with a 24 point lead
-Passing plays with 5 minutes left when they're up by 38

Just kind of gross to watch, is all. I actually wanted the Patriots to win, so Wilson could keep piling on the list of wins against SB winning QB's (he's at 11-0 now I think)

They didn't lose because of one bounce. They lost because they failed to get touchdowns, and had to settle for field goals FIVE TIMES. Including two from the ONE YARD LINE because their coach was too pussy to go for it.

Successful coaches go for the win in the playoffs, not field position. Guys like Carrol, Harbaugh, Bellichick.

Yes you're correct GB left points on the board early on. But had they taken possession on the onside kick, it's pretty much game over. Even losing the onside kick, all they had to do was play the same defence they were playing all game and just force a 3 and out (or even make Seattle settle for a FG). They happened to not do so. And as awesome as Clinton-Dix played, what was he thinking on that conversion play. He basically gave Willson a free shot at the ball.

TBH Harbaugh had every right to be pissed at the refs (not the other team) when they declared a guy ineligible. They didn't give the defense enough of a notification at all... He just quickly mentioned it to Suggs and the ball was snapped immediately. That was fucking bullshit, and I don't think you could argue against that. It's just one of those things where Belichick knows the refs aren't going to go by the book and give the defense enough time to react. That, and Brady knows if he snaps it right away, the refs will let them.

Like I said, they play right on the edge of the rulebook, and that's what gave them the edge in that game. They basically "cheated" by being able to pass to an uncovered guy, because who the hell covers a lineman?

Yup most QBs will push the limits as low as possible to make the ball grippier, especially in weather. Aaron Rodgers is the only guy I know of who likes overinflated footballs, and will actually try to have them overinflated by a bit.

The fact is, the Patriots did, and it was brought up after an interception and confirmed later that they were under-inflated by 2 psi. This was after they were warmed up too, so they would have been even more deflated during the game.

Someone dug up a player interview from an earlier game, and it was brought up in passing back then. After 2 interceptions, they noticed that Brady was using under-inflated balls.

This isn't a "huge deal" as in it won the game for them. However it's a big enough deal because they were cheating, probably against the Ravens and every other visiting team they played. A lot of which were close games (obviously the Ravens game, and the Jets game earlier which won them home advantage). They basically cheated enough to get into the Super Bowl, and it needs to be addressed.

what i meant was for the AFC championship game, did the league collect the balls that the Colts were using too. If both teams have deflated balls, perhaps it can be blamed on the weather or some other unknown factors - or both were deflating it on purpose. But if they also compared the Colts balls and patriots balls from the same game and one team is different, than yes we have a real issue.

reports are out that its fairly common place for deflating to happen.

disclaimer : im a seahawks fan, and my take on this is it isnt a big deal. yes its a concern but its way overblown and its taking attention away from the superbowl.

We dont know for sure if they cheated against the ravens or any other team. Ravens intercepted brady during that game too.

Yes, the Colts balls were fine. It was that Patriots balls (11 of them) that were under-inflated.

It wasn't the weather, they were cheating. Like they often do

Nope, we don't know if they were cheating against the Ravens, or they only did it against the Colts (twice this season). Maybe they just didn't notice, or maybe they weren't cheating that game...

say they did cheated, what will happen? I dont think the league can even find proof of tempering.

It's impossible to prove anything. How do you know the refs properly inspected the balls? yea i know they mark them and all, but how do you know it was properly inspected and not just marked because the refs got lazy and didnt properly check it?
Maybe the balls were not properly inspected by the refs? for example, the refs didnt even know it was deflated until after the interception.

Unless they find clear evidence that someone tampered with the balls from the patriots organization, i dont think the league can do anything. The balls could be deflated without Bill even knowing about it.

However if they did find solid evidence, I think draft picks and maximum fine should be the penalty.

they replaced the balls at half time so the balls didn't matter... They might of been the issue why the Pats didn't start blowing the game wide open until the second half

^ i honestly think people are just haters of the patriots.

Honestly, I am very jealous of their organization, quality drafting, management, coaching, play selection. innovation (the eligible/ineligible linemens) etc

I actually think the pats might beat the seahawks and if that happens, i wont have sour grapes and I will congratulate you, because they deserved the win. and no it wasnt because of deflated balls or what not.

deflated balls aside, lets talk real football.

i think weaknesses that the patriots have is their O-line protecting brady against a 4-man rush. the only time they lose big games is when the other team can bring pressure without blitzing.

Look at the giants superbowl wins, brady had no time and their receivers couldnt get open. same with the ravens game 2 years ago.

Not only do the seahawks have an awesome front 4, but their secondary is the best in the business. if the Pats WR cant get open, brady will be forced to take the sack or throw incompletions or picks.

I think wagner and the linemens are given too much credit and are beatable by the likes of gronk etc.

If you are discussing gameplans against the Seahawks, the Patriots coaching staff will keep the Seattle D guessing with their trick plays, no huddle offense, and the running game.

New England's offence is not all about Brady. Their RB LeGarrette Blount is a big guy who can run the ball. He's no Marshaun Lynch, but he's not a weak sauce running back.

The offensive strategy that the Patriots use can also be about changing the tempo of the game. - really think that they will use no huddle offence to push the pace and wear down Seattle.

As for trick plays, Edelmann can certainly pass the ball even though he's a wide receiver. His QB experience at Kent State was in display during the Ravens game when he threw for a touchdown.

Green Bay tried a "trick play" late in the game by putting in only three rushers with the Hawks pinned back at third and a mile... and that didn't really work out so well for them, did it?

That's the thing with trick plays - gotta be careful you don't trick yourself!

Just a heads up or anyone who hasn't yet placed bets.

Bet Back Bonus on first or last touchdown is for any successful coach challenge in the game.

Lynch is 7.25:1 - the most favored player to score first and last in the game.

Obviously a risky bet, but you gotta pay to play.

Using Current Odds right Now I have a few ones I'm betting on.

Total Passing Yards Brady 260.5 UNDER even right now (I think they run the ball more with Blount then risk throwing it to the Secondary).

Total Rushing Yards Blount 62.4 OVER for -115 (Rely on the running game to chew up clock and avoid throwing it to the LOB)

Will Russell Wilson (SEA) score a Rushing TD in the game YES +200 (Hawks receivers are average at best Kearse, Baldwin they were locked up during most of the game against the Packers and with Revis and Browner on the other side for the Patriots I think they'll use more read option.

Total Receptions - Luke Willson (SEA) 2.5 OVER -135 (With the receivers having a hard time getting open I think Russell will look to throw it more towards Luke especially on check downs as a security blanket.

TOTAL POINTS SCORED 48.5 UNDER -115 (Both pass defences are in the top 5 in the NFL, I'm expecting a low scoring game 24-21. Revis and Browner for the Patriots should stifle Baldwin and Kearse, I'm worried about Shermans elbow and Thomas III shoulder without those two Brady is going to put up points

I'm really thinking about putting down $50 for Blount to win the MVP. He has some pretty decent odds.

Last time a RB won the SB MVP was 1998. Even then I think Marshawn Lynch has a higher chance to win MVP compared to Blount, gets more carries bigger name more recognizable. If the Seattle pulls out the win I think it'll have more to do with Marshawn ( No star/stud receiver it'll lesson the chances of Wilson winning it too) then say if NE pulls the win Brady will get more credit than Blount. With how good both teams pass defence, I don't see either QB having an MVP type stat game.

Marshawn Lynch 4/1
Rob Gronkowski 9/1

TE has never won the SB MVP but I think Gronkowski has a shot, I think Gronk has a good shot against Chancellor and a banged up Thomas.

I think they will double cover Gronk since they will be so worried about him which will leave room open for the other wideout's. All I know is I'm very excited and can't wait until the smack talking is over and we get to see the talk on the field.

I'm very curious how media day will go for Lynch tomorrow.
