Davon House was actually off side on the kick, a flag was thrown but the Fox broadcast didn't mention that, so if it was blocked the Niners would have gotten another kick at it from 5 yards closer.

Peyton Manning maybe?

Did you not watch the last SD game? Rivers managed the offense perfectly, and the Broncos were barely ever on offense.

Hence, for Manning to "gas out" the SD defense with his no huddle offense, his own defense is going to have to do a much better job than they did last game.

I'm predicting that it's gonna be a close game between the Seahawks and Saints despite the "X-factors" like Harvin playing today.

If Seattle gets off to a quick start, gets touchdowns, establish their running game with Lynch, then the home team wins for sure. The piss pouring rainy weather and heavy winds favors Seattle.

However, Brees and his team mates run a high powered offence. -really interesting to see what kind of Saints team shows up to play today.

-big props to the "12th man" Seahawks fans. -loudest, best fans in the NFL. Seahawks win today.

What I found pretty amazing is the impact Harvin had when he was in the game (even though it was for a small part of the game). It's gonna be pass vs. run in the Denver and New England game. All the media is hyping up it as Manning vs. Brady in terms of the passing game. I don't think Belicheck is gonna go with a passing scheme for his offensive play packages. Their running backs Blount and Ridley scored all six if their TDs vs. Indy last week.
Why change the formula for success? Brady doesn't have many weapons on WR other than Edelmann and Amendola.

They're gonna go with a ground attack against the Broncos. -ground and pound the ball against them. -less emphasis on Brady's passing vs. Manning's passing game.

Kaep is just a hard guy to like or cheer for, he just totally comes across as a self centered arrogant douchebag. I found it hilarious and typical that when he was named the Niners QB, the first thing he did was dump his long time girlfriend haha.

Seahawks have always been my team, but I actually used to like the Niners too going back to the Montana/Rice days, Patrick Willis is still one of my favorite players and guys in the NFL, but with Kaepernick, Aldon Smith and Harbaugh (who complains and whines to ref about every single play, even the ones where it goes the Niners way) there, I just can't respect that team.

Exactly it for me, they can be up by 30 points with 2 minutes left and he'll still be bitching and complaining about something. I get that he's passionate about what he does but take the anger down a fucking notch. I love seeing him lose, I hope that happens on Sunday because a Harbaugh loss is almost as satisfying as my team winning a game.....then again, a win and then a second straight loss in the Superbowl could even be better but that's kind of risky because that asshats team might just win it all.

I just hate how they allow season ticket holders to buy soo many tickets as well as scalpers and such, leaving so little left to "regular" people.

You can't FORCE him to play....There's proper concussion protocols now....Tests are done, and he needs to be medically cleared to play....

Every concussion is different...Sometimes you can be good to go in a couple days, sometimes it can take months before you fully recover.

Moreover, "once a team doctor signs off on a player's return, the player is evaluated in person by an unaffiliated concussion expert physician approved by both the NFL and NFL Players Association. This unaffiliated expert also must sign off on the player's health before he is allowed to return to play."

Here you go mate:

The initial treatment is rest, and the team doctors and athletic trainers begin monitoring to see when a player appears to have returned to baseline functioning. Do symptoms return when a player watches practice or when he watches film? Is there return of symptoms with physical activity?

Once symptoms have completely subsided, the player again performs more comprehensive neuropsychological tests interpreted by the team neuropsychologist. There are no pass-fail grades, only additional data for physicians to consider.

If the player is progressing, he would be become eligible for increased physical activity. The workouts would ramp up over a few days if no symptoms occur.

A player feeling normal one day after the game might pass cognitive testing Tuesday and begin a light exercise program, intensify their exercise routine Wednesday, participate in non-contact aspects of practice on Thursday and return to full practice Friday. But if a player has a history of concussions or isn't progressing as quickly as planned, the process moves accordingly.

The medical team increases the exercise regimen to full speed as the player proves he can handle the escalation without incident. Some teams stage controlled contact drills featuring, for example, one lineman blocking another the way they would in an unpadded practice.

"The thing that I think is important here is you don't manage concussions by a calendar," Dr. Herring said. "Some guys may come back in a week. Some guys may come back in six weeks. These steps don't have an expiration date on them. The player's history of injury and other issues come into play."

Once a team doctor signs off on a player's return, the player is evaluated in person by an unaffiliated concussion expert physician approved by both the NFL and NFL Players Association. This unaffiliated expert also must sign off on the player's health before he is allowed to return to play.

"The thinking is that we have done our best work, but an automatic second opinion is built in," Herring said. "We've never had a disagreement, but I would welcome it if we did because we could learn from it. This is a trust issue. We need assurances there is no rush to return to play for any reason."

so yeah, there not just going to throw him out there if he's still fucked...

I think that line will drop to 3 or maybe even 2.5 with Harvin out.
Broncos/Pats line opened at 7 on Sunday and right now it dropped to 5 with Harris Bronco's best CB out for the season. And most of the public backing the Pats/49ers is another factor that dropped the line.

Their run game with Blount/Ridley has been on for the past couple of weeks, it's also the best way to chew up clock and keep the ball away from Manning if they convert first downs.

I got a feeling whoever wins between Pats/Broncos is gonna blow out the NFC winner in the SuperBowl. Hawks and 49ers is gonna be a blood bath hopefully whoever makes it out will be relatively healthy.

Likewise for the Manning, other than Talib who is average in my opinion at best, the Pats secondary is weak. The weather in Denver is apparently gonna be mild, little to no wind about 10 degrees C, which could mean a shootout.

? no way. he's a free agent after and he's going to make a killing this off-season.

Talib covers the number one WR and tight ends and literally shuts down the other teams best offensive player most games.

There's a general consensus on how you can evaluate a good corner and that's how the defensive coach plays him.

If you're good, ie. richard sherman, peterson, revis (before he got injured), you don't get any safety help and they put you all alone with the other teams best receiver. Talib plays man coverage with no safety help all the time.

go watch the patriots/ saints game. chris colinsworth basically says he thinks Talib is one of the best corners in the league, he was assigned to play jimmy graham all game and I believe he held jimmy graham to no catches in that game.

plus I think he was on All-Pro 2nd team this year, a recognition that's not a popularity contest that's voted by fans like the pro-bowl.

after reading some of the posts in this thread, im kinda shocked at the amount of misinformation and horrible info spewed out regarding football.

God- absolutely picture-perfect hit. No helmet to helmet garbage. Just a solid shoulder to the body to dislodge the ball.

What a game. I like both teams, but cheer on the Hawks a bit more as they're more local. I had a sick feeling during that last minute drive by Kaep. With those first downs and time running down I thought, "man they're going to get it done." Then Sherman decides to clutch up. Though Crabtree was technically correct saying that he didn't make many plays aside from the one that mattered, I don't think Kaep threw his way at all during the game.

Can't wait for the big game! As much as Peyton likes to chuck the ball, I think he might be in trouble against the Hawks secondary while fighting a potential cold-weather situation as well.

More back story to Sherman vs Crabtree

Report: Crabtree tried to fight Sherman at a charity event last year

Posted by Michael David Smith on January 20, 2014, 10:39 AM EST

There may be more to the grudge between 49ers receiver Michael Crabtree and Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman than what we saw on the field.

Sherman’s older brother, Branton, told Jerry Brewer of the Seattle Times that it was Crabtree who started the animosity between the two of them, several months ago. Branton Sherman says that both Richard Sherman and Crabtree attended Cardinals receiver Larry Fitzgerald’s charity event over the summer, and that when Sherman approached Crabtree to shake his hand, Crabtree tried to start a fight.

According to the report, Sherman’s response to that was, “I’m going to make a play and embarrass him.”

Sherman did make plenty of plays on Sunday, and afterward he called Crabtree a “sorry receiver.” Crabtree may be sorry he ever faced off with Sherman, either on the field or off.

^I'm not quite a Hawk homer just yet, but just thinking about Peyton's past playoff performances and Seattle's excellent defense, I think Peyton may have a few picks to throw in the SB.

As scary as Seattle's offence has been the past month or so, they've been playing top 8 NFL defenses a lot lately. I'm not saying that they'll explode against the Broncos, but they should have an easier time moving the ball against the Broncos compared to say, Carolina/NO/SF. It's also expected that Harvin is going to make it to the SB, so that's another weapon to add for the Hawks.

I think it's almost a pick'um. I'd give a slight edge to the Hawks and their defensive playmakers.

I think their 'white jersey' losses have more to do with the fact they were playing on the road :fuckthatshit:

Too bad they can't wear Wolf Grey

I was thinking about this game this morning, comparing both teams. Is it just me, or are they completely opposite in how the teams are perceived. Seahawks are an exciting, young team with no players with SB experience. Just about every position has a guy who stands out as being exciting and new compared to average teams. They have a beast for RB, a QB who can scramble out of anything and still throw accurately, and a world famous DB crew.

Broncos on the other hand have a decent to good team (with a very good offensive line), and Peyton Manning. All their playoff games have been pretty boring, as they just go on these long drives... Yes it's dominating, but sometimes dominating can be boring. When the Seahawks dominated the 49ers at the beginning of the season, or last year in December, it was awesome. When the Broncos dominated the Patriots and the Chargers (for 3 quarters) it was just... Manning yelling Omaha a bunch of times and throwing perfect passes.

I guess I just think the Broncos are a dull team that will fall off the face of the earth once Manning retires.

Off the top of my head, maybe the 02/03 Bucs, but that falls just outside of the past decade, with Barber, Lynch, Dexter Jackson and Brian Kelly. But that Bucs D was more dominated by its front 7 with Saap, Rice, Brooks and Quarles.

The AFC is considered the home team this year, so Denver got first choice. They alternate NFC, AFC as home teams.

That's the official NFL Japan site! :lawl:

American Football is actually pretty popular there... There is a pretty big football shop in Shibuya and a lot of the universities have football teams. I got to use Tokyo University's field all summer last year, that was pretty cool

Unless he gets a headache, as a Viking fan who has watched every NFL game he's played in there is one thing I know about Percy and it's there is no telling what you're gonna get until you get it. The guy has serious skills and combined with his speed he can be a game breaker but he's hurt more then not and he doesn't have to be injured not to play with his migraines. 100% Harvin hasn't been in the game more then 100 minutes in the last year and a half. Wish him all the best because he is seriously fun to watch but I would be surprised if he has much impact on this game.

I think the douchbag is mad haha. lol really?? what if you threw it a yard further? ummm it wasn't an INT, it was a pass breakup. Maybe you should focus on not choking and turning the ball over in clutch time continuously. What about you mocking Cam Newton in Carolina, pot calling the kettle black. Sherman is afraid of your receivers? I think you mean you are afraid of Sherman, that's why you own threw at him twice during the game. Love this Seahawks - Niners rivarly

Colin Kaepernick unloads on Richard Sherman

Posted by Darin Gantt on January 30, 2014, 12:14 PM EST

Normally reserved 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick had plenty to say today, sending some pointed words at Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman.

The last we saw Kaepernick, he was throwing a game-ending interception in the NFC Championship Game, which was followed by Richard Sherman making the choke sign in his direction and then starting the post-game interview rant heard ’round the world.

“Did that make you feel better about yourself? Then go ahead. Because I’m not worried about you,” Kaepernick said, via Bart Hubbuch of the New York Post.

Kaepernick had several other choice words for Sherman, including:

— “He’s afraid of our receivers, and that’s something I’m looking forward to [exploiting] next year.”

— “If I throw that ball one foot farther, it’s a TD and now you’re the goat, Richard Sherman.”

— “His comments were ridiculous. If you have to tell people how good you are, then how good are you really?”

Those words stand in such sharp contrast because Kaepernick usually has little to say. Unfortunately, they come after the Seahawks final player media availability of the week, meaning it will be after the Super Bowl — and before every upcoming 49ers-Seahawks game — before we can get a reaction.

^That's some good bulletin board material for both teams. I hope NFL schedule makers are paying attention and putting them against each other in the early weeks of next season.

:lol Kaepernick.

I think Kaepernick has greater potential than RG3, throwing, rushing and football IQ too.

I can't imagine what Kaepernick would say about Sherman if the outcome of the Superbowl is not in the Seahawks favour. What a douchebag.

C'mon Sherman, play the game of your life along with your team mates!
Beat the team that beat my Patriots!

Shock the world!
