just give it one good hit with a big hammer, hit it with the nut on loose so you dont screw up the thread if you miss |
Those pickle forks/chisels are a JOKE. I use an actual ball jonit remover. It wedges itself on the bototm of the ball joint threads/nut, while other legs go on the boot like any other, but instead of ramming it in and forcing it out with teh angled forks, you turn a bolt on the end which actually spreads the jaws of the device open. WAY nicer on boots. Takes 30 seconds with no effort required other then a ratchet. Something like this http://www.machinemart.co.uk/images/...040211222c.jpg http://www.saab9000.com/procedures/s...sttrackrod.jpg |
anything that pinches the boot that much is bad dice imo. i hope you keep alot of spare boots |
If you look at the way it's made. it's rounded. it hardly pnches the boot. it forms around the boot and touches the actual joint inside the boot. from the bottom portion. The big difference is you don't have a wedge pounding squeezing the boot. This is a constant smooth pressure that leaves the boot perfect. |
