7 inches?! How did you lower your car?

bmwwheelman 06-23-2006 07:22 PM

cut the springs... lol!

I gotta swing by Honda and check that out. I know someone looking into buying one and I'm curious to see how they sound. I threw in a SRI into the EF today. Sure woke the car up after running a really dirty old stock filter.

fixed the tach, replaced with its jdm counterpart, now i know my rpms

What was wrong with the suspension techniques progressive setup I had in that car, that you took out? It looked great, rode awesome and handled amazing

Looks cool Danny, springs and mean tires ASAP

w00t...simplifying things on the Yugoslavian Bentley ('87 VW Fox)...the guy had a double-bypass oil filter setup on it and 5 extra gauges...the bypass is great if you're racing/driving hard/etc...useless on a daily driver/beater like my car...took that out, he put fitting upon fitting in there for all the extra shit (there are 2 stock oil senders, he put on two more, plus the bypass), ended up snapping a fitting right off the head....bought some tools for 5 bucks from Lordco and 20mins later VOILA! she's out and back on the road.

Nothing, hence why I put it back in. I had taken it out since the intercooler and exaust were both too low. I've since come up with a better spot for the new intercooler.

Quite a ride difference. Nice handling springs, stiff; yet still a nice ride. I'll need to invest in some 16's later in the year as the tires I have done fit quite right.

I wish I had a before pic, but it sat higher than stock for whatever reason.

That car was pretty when craig owned it.

:(

BilletPimp 06-24-2006 01:12 PM

:duh:

how the heck is that 7 inches? I've got my TRUCK lowered 5 in the front, 8 in the back and it's the lowest damn thing around....your car looks like it's got an inch or two, tops.

I mean I started higher than you did and I'm a good couple inches lower than you...no way you can lower your car 7" w/out getting / \ mad camber, and without a lot of cutting ;)

SaviorSelf_666 06-24-2006 01:24 PM

poor car

down_hill_dog 06-24-2006 04:54 PM

I would still love to make the effort and spend a fair amount of time on one of those cars for a project. The power and the drivetrain layout is amazing. Isuzu had a great thing going with that car, I wish they would have followed through with it. 60/40 power split between the 4 wheels, 60% being at the rear wheels with an oem viscous LSD. With a good suspension setup they are one MEAN handling car. It's too bad parts availability is horrid.

By putting the Suspension techniques springs back in it, you just lowered it 1.75 inches, not 7. Be sure to go get an alignment again.

And please save up, and get the bodywork done and the car in paint. Primer holds moisture like an XL wet cotton t-shirt. A car in primer rusts as fast or faster than bare metal.

girlcrazy_420 06-24-2006 07:08 PM

Not too worried about the alignment. You had it done when you owned it. I raised it, and lowered it again so it should be pretty close. Paint of course, but I'm still working out the "bugs" in the drivetrain. Wheel bearings are a pain in the arse. $200 each per side /front (rears n/a)

i'll make you a bet that your toe is way out to lunch now and it's probably doing a dog leg in one direction down the road

down_hill_dog 06-24-2006 10:55 PM

any time you even touch the suspension in a car it is proper practice to have a wheel alignment done. not only will your tires wear better, but the car will no longer drive like a piece of rutland ghetto.

jeffh 06-25-2006 05:45 AM

^ the only problem with alignments is there really isnt a ghetto DIY method.

corners got painted a matching amber then foglights and muffler tip got a little bit of polish, thanks craig looks good!

AzN_ignite 06-25-2006 06:11 AM

you can do it the westside way by using a measuring tape on the tires to set toe

fourtirefire 06-25-2006 05:59 PM

tape measure alignments were all i ever did on the tercel... sorta worked in a ghetto way..

girlcrazy_420 06-25-2006 09:54 PM

eek^^

Ordered a set of wheel bearings, hope they get here soon as I have been forced to park the car since it feels like the fucking wheel is about to fall off

Tchleung 06-25-2006 11:42 PM

We did my alignment on the G2 by eye :) Bang on pretty much.

2_tha_max 06-26-2006 09:00 AM

Modded a sweet dent in the driver side door and a note saying they have called icbc this morning, which then I call and find out that is not true. Luckily I know who hit me from where I was parked and where the dent is, so I am definitly going to have to visit them later today...

fourtirefire 06-26-2006 11:30 AM

modded a chevy keyfob onto my keychain

picked up a 99 silverado 1500 ext cab 4x4 today!

SpooSports 06-26-2006 12:38 PM
