Slo40 06-16-2006 08:44 PM

^ nice I just bought the GT2871R

Tchleung 06-18-2006 12:23 AM

Was having ignition problems with breaking up at top end at high boost and a bit at low boost. Worked on it all day and night till I finally realized it was running richer then I had originally tuned it for, for some reason. So I took away some fuel and seems to be all better now.. Gonna have to do some more tests to make sure. Back to high 10:1's in boost, might even tip into low 11:1's. :p

On the subject of turbos, GT30R here :D

SaviorSelf_666 06-19-2006 09:22 PM

girlcrazy_420 06-20-2006 02:49 PM

I seemed to have cheaped out Last July and went with a $587 Centerforce Clutch to have it slipping already after only 6000km. I have another centerforce clutch kit on order. Dual friction this time. Ugh... 3rd time having the tranny out.

down_hill_dog 06-20-2006 05:27 PM

if you don't know how to let out a clutch properly the dual friction is going to wear out even sooner for you adam. What rpm do you let out the clutch at?

And the centerforce you got last july was good enough that it should last another 3 years of hard driving. maybe it's time to look at your driving style

Ever think that maybe the clutch cable is out of adjustment?

fourtirefire 06-20-2006 05:48 PM

yah that car eats clutch cables....

plus i'm sure i could look back and find a quote of how you "broke in" your new clutch by "giving it a few hard launches"
that'll take many thousand km's off the life of a clutch.

proshoraca 06-20-2006 07:38 PM

cf df;s suck hard balls anyways, i have NEVER heard of anybody having success with them. Every single person i have Ever talked to about the dual friction said that they absolutely hate it, soft pedal feel and very short life. i'd go with a different clutch if i were you.

got car ready for drag racing by securing battery more, wacking a degree of timing out, and..hmmm..thats pretty much about it. fixed a washer bottle hold-down.

down_hill_dog 06-20-2006 08:04 PM

I was happy with my dual friction in my prelude, it was one tough clutch. But i broke it in EXACTLY the way it was intended to be broken in.

I havnt done "too many" hard launches, but mostly just "giv'n her" after its engaged. I guess about 2000-2500 for casual driving as the engine dosnt have enough balls for anything below that. The one time I launched giving Poko a good run, it slipped and hasnt been the same ever since. It seems fine when its cool, but after a few good launches, it slips.

Danny is right about the break in period. It was done completely out of spec. I'll know for future reference.

proshoraca 06-21-2006 04:58 PM

ya i think thats the only way to do it Craig if you follow exactly the reccomended way. i know Me and Danny "broke in" the clutch in the turbocharged 323 at boucherie highschool by driving it normally to the strip, and beating the snott out of it on the sticky track haha, ya that lasted about 2 months. I've just heard everyone in rustang-world having problems with them. I suppose if they're still up and running they must be doing it right with most applications tho.

Cleaned out interior a bit, still have 1/2 a brewery of empties in the trunk, gotta ditch those i guess haha. fixed some trunk-rubber, put togethor steering column trim a bit...thats pretty much about it.

down_hill_dog 06-22-2006 11:35 AM

adjust your clutch cable adam... like dan the man said. that car is notorious for clutch cable breakage, check your cable and make sure it's adjusted right before you rule out the clutch.

Mild? Stainless? Titanium?

How does it sound?

jeffh 06-22-2006 03:21 PM

the muffler itself is stainless with the purply burnt tip look. its just an axleback deal, had to be done on the budget so i could still afford to race this weekend. without the silencer in its real deep sounding, no buzzing from what i can tell, it kind of kills the vtec crossover tho. with the silencer in i can hardly hear it atall.

down_hill_dog 06-22-2006 04:52 PM

good to hear jeff... I'm excited to see/hear what shes going to sound like :)

netfreak 06-22-2006 06:02 PM

took apart the carb on the truck to fix a fuel leak.. gas dripping on the exhaust was not cool. might look into a weber 32/36 conversion too

bmwwheelman 06-22-2006 10:30 PM

pulled out my Idle Control Valve and cleaned it out, it was like, black.. haha
My car doesnt idle like a peice of shit anymore!

Also put in my 5.0 injectors in, smoother idle and alot smoother through out the rpms!

Next up is 8mm wires, some Bosch platinums and an electronic ignition conversion! :O

proshoraca 06-22-2006 10:35 PM

were they stock rustang inj.'s? cause if they have an orange top they're only 19lb/hr maybe enough for you, not sure if you need major fuel or not, but ya they're pretty small. i have 8 if you need anymore haha.

bmwwheelman 06-23-2006 01:55 AM

yeah they are 19lb/hr my stock ones were some pussy ass thing like 17 or less i dunno, and plus they were 17 yrs old and nasty as hell!

girlcrazy_420 06-23-2006 10:17 AM

Decided to lower the car and I've got the back done so far. She dropped about 7" inches in the rear. A little more than I was expecting. Looks like I gotta use my 14"s for the time being till I can get a lower pro tire so nothing rubs on the front as there is "just" enough room stock hight.
