well i was reminded of why i only own hondas today. the plan was to drive the new 323 down to penticton to store at my parents until snow happens. brought the car to work, checked the oil threw it up in the air to have a look at brakes and make sure nothing would esplode on the way down. topped up the oil everything looks dandy. car burns a little more blue than i expected but im ghetto i can live with that. 62km on the trip odometer (i set it when i bought the car to see how many kms a 1/4 tank would last me) and the motor seizes on the highway at 100kmh and thats that. it went through 4.5 litres of oil in 62kms. sweet job mazda. car only had 122 000 kms on the odometer.

now ive got a busted ass $200 paperweight with no insurance (temp runs out tonight) sitting on the side of the highway near penticton that will probably get towed and i will be charged an arm and a leg for it.

craig danny waylon. dont talk to you know who until i do, dont need this getting all silly

no, that is a great engine.. and it was a great car before dave got his hands on it. Clayton from kelownacivics owned it before him, and it was pristine at the time.

I remember in -20+ celcius last winter, the car just sat for 8 hours outside work, he'd fire it up, let it idle for 30 seconds and then WOT all the way home doing a burnout out of his parking spot.

Sweet job mazda! those engines run into the 500,000+ km range.. It is'nt a powerhouse, but it really is a good reliable economical design. Same engine as in the early Miatas. As a matter of fact Wayne Terai has that engine in his Turbo'd miata running stock internals.. hmm...

But like any car that is driven without any respect, they die a painful death.

Remember my Sisters EF Civic? KILLED the 1.5 litre at 180,000 km with all factory service records. PIECE OF SHIT HONDAAAA, same thing man, think about it. When your in a piece of shit econobox, as long as it's maintained and driven properly.. a car is a car.

It's a $200 car man, you really cant expect much. get it towed, and put a miata/ 323 longblock in it before winter hits. you'll still be under $1000 and good to go.

zumvette 10-01-2007 10:36 PM

funny you say that craig, a guy here has a 323 with a 1.8L miata long block and different head, thing wales hard. o forgot to mention that it is also a gtx model, so awd and turbo in a 323.

its a single cam 1.6 carb motor, not what wayne runs. its got 122 000 kms and it needed a head job last year and now its strait up gone. sweet motor indeed. lets compare this to you 1.6 carbed honda engine made 3 years earlier.
thought so...

down_hill_dog 10-02-2007 12:56 PM

the old woman who originally owned the car cracked the head from lack of antifreeze in the winter.

A new head was put on the old engine. Then she forgot to do an oilchange and seized it and threw a rod out of the block.

At this time Clayton was given the car for free. He put in a mildly KM'ed out engine (over 300,000 actually) from pick and pull that had dirt in the oil pan and everything. He then drove it for a couple months and sold it to Dave. So all in all, it lasted quite well i'd say.

Pop a new longblock in and have a great car for $1000 or less

Lindz_Si 10-02-2007 05:53 PM

put the 900w and 34" of sub into car

or i can sell the piece of shit to the wreckers and call it a day.
dave is doing a great thnig and giving me 100 back (he still gets the $100 that pick and pull would have given him)

foxy_DA9 10-02-2007 10:12 PM

personally i dont think he should be giving you any money back. you bought a piece of shit $200 car. im sorry but deal with it.

girlcrazy_420 10-02-2007 10:24 PM

fully de-modded the car. original airbox, stereo, wheels etc. Nice to have finally sold it. Now time for operation 351 :D

well a decent person disagrees i guess. "little bit of an oil leak" and "burns a little blue" is different than 4 litres of oil in 61 kms.
and really that was a pretty retarded thing to say, its a $200 car that got towed by the RCMP that now has a $175 tow bill and who knows what sort of rediculous storage fee on it. $375 doesnt seem like alot to you, but thats food and bills for a month for me

underscore 10-03-2007 10:07 AM

probably not a good idea taking a $200 car on the highway...

either way that's a hell of a lot of oil to drop that fast.

$175 tow bill? shit wouldve been easier to just push it into the lake. aside from the obvious environmental consequences and such. $375 is all I make a month right now lol.

Actually $375 is alot for me. I have more expenses than i may lead on. Not the point however. Why did you have to take your car to Pen anyways? You have 2 parking spaces at your place!?! Maybe you should have driven it, checked it over before trying to take it on a longer drive? Shitty about the tow bill, but I guess that shit just happens

racer__X__33 10-03-2007 04:33 PM

modded a payment onto the mastercard...

and then some parts onto it too...haha...yay the civics gonna be back in action!!! :D

wek'sos FTW!!

cant park an unregistered car on the lot, strata rules, so to pen the winter car goes. the car was checked out for safety before we left, maybe i should have had a closer look at the front crank seal, but the leak did not seem that massive at that point. maybe if the oil pressure switch wasnt disconnected i would have had some warning before the motor seized up ;D

zumvette 10-03-2007 05:55 PM

modded the tranny back into my truck, with a nice 2243.77 bill. fuckin crap. he had to do a partial rebuild and get a new flex plate and torque converter clutches etc... friggin gay, the shop that did the swap better be warrantying their work, they havent called back yet.

modded an mdf box with 2 10" subs and a huge sized low power amp. :)

ZeD_sQuArE 10-04-2007 12:01 AM

Pulled the soft top out. Scale told me it was 41lbs. The short term wieght goal is 1000kg on the shitty truck scales. With the hard top off I should be there. Also hoping to mod some cash into my wallet one day. It might be time to install my resume into some employers' hands.
