seriously?

down_hill_dog 10-20-2007 06:30 AM

I don't see why? If anything it saves lives in rollovers, and protects in side impacts.

So your saying, If I add the Hard dog door bars to my bar setup, it's technically illegal?

Therin 10-20-2007 07:08 AM

check with icbc, they'll tell you its illegal. It has to do with changing the vehicles impact rating or some shit.

Yeah its safer, but they dont like it.

edit: Yet, roll bars are ok... doesn't make sense does it.

down_hill_dog 10-20-2007 08:13 AM

Hmm, Cause a girl we know named Myriam had a spoon bolt in cage n her EG civic. She was T-boned hard, and the car was'nt nearly as bad as it should have been.

I'd really like to get the Hard Dog bolt in door bars for my rollbar, just for similar reasons.

Slo40 10-20-2007 10:26 AM

Well its not so much illegal for changing the impact rating, but more that any cage requires the driver to wear a helmet to protect against head injuries from hitting the cage in a collision.

jeffh 10-20-2007 10:31 AM

and a 5 point harness and a fia approved bucket

underscore 10-20-2007 11:43 AM

because hitting your head on a bar is so much worse than having your head crushed. does it say anything about wrapping it with that foam?

think melon and baseball bat. a cage does not flex at all, go find some pics of helmets after a good crash on track

so is no airbags...and some other stuff...and it is pretty much just a roll bar...meh...either way its in there *shrugs*

i would put padding around the area of the driver and passengers head. obviously the padding wont do much if your car gets obliterated, but in the case of a smaller accident it could prevent one from being knocked out or concussed. also anytime one has a cage or a rollbar of some sort, as jeff stated, its important that a bucket seat and harness be used in conjunction. a regular seat belt will stop a person from flying through the windshield, but will not stop a persons upper body from moving side to side, where as a harness keeps your entire body firm in the seat. as with all safety equipment, it really can be a double edged sword if not used properly.

here is an fia document on wrc safety. here you can see how in depth they go.

not having an airbag isnt illegal, lots of cars out there with em.

i just wish momo would release these on our side of the ocean

underscore 10-20-2007 08:53 PM

neither of my cars have had airbags...rather sucks.

jeffh how much give is there to lots of other parts your head could hit? not a whole hell of a lot, though I know not having door panels has lead to some serious injury, so I'm thinking that little bit is a lot better than none. I think a cage wrapped in foam would be the safest setup.

if this is ryan, then I dont think so man. I think that and the shifter were an option that anthony put in after...

007WRX 10-21-2007 12:27 PM

hahah ya dude, they are stock. Your car should have the legacy version, look near the bottom, it should have MOMO stamped on it.

mannslayer 10-21-2007 02:23 PM

the momo steering wheel is stock on the wrx. the shifter is not stock.

Smoke Show 10-21-2007 06:11 PM

my wrx came stock with a momo. they all do. there is no option.

Therin 10-22-2007 12:32 AM

just cuz momo made it, it doesn't make it that special. its not a racing wheel. Now if your seats said Recaro, then that would be different.

mannslayer 10-22-2007 11:26 AM

nobody said they were special...

spec-C type RA-R and s204 optional seats:

007WRX 10-22-2007 12:58 PM

I think I might look into the ra-r wheels in white. Aparrently they dont go for too big of a coin. Ill talk to wade tomorrow.

ColinK 10-22-2007 01:03 PM
