Might as well do a oil change when the tranny gets pulled. Whats a reccomended oil brand from canadian tire? I didnt feel like spending $4 a litre... Just something decent better than that $1 walmart shit... I also got some additives to stop the smoking during cold starts.

What weight oil are you using? If the additives don't help. Try a heavier weight. You will notice an increase in oil pressure tho but not enoguh to hurt anything.

Mod of the day:

Did some engine work on a buddy's lude. Tried to replace the carb-> intake seals, but the nuts were stript so we couldnt go on. Filled the holes with highheat silicon till the car goes to the mech. Also adjusted the carbs, painted the valve cover red, and reset the timing.

The biggest part was adjusting the lifters. They were ticking like a motherfucker. We guessed and well... tightened everything down untill the rockers didnt click against the valves anymore. Seems to work pretty good and for some reason, the car idles a hell of alot better now

edit: hmm... I think they're too tight. Well, its not my cam thats gonna get screwed over.

jamie 04-25-2005 02:31 PM

put plates back on the scirocco, changed the oil and replaced the fram with a k&n

maybe ordering some 215 50 r13 sumitomo htr 200s for my RAs and putting them back on.. i HOPE it'll make the car faster going from 215 45 r16 azenis' which are alot heavier and i would assume alot harder for my ween engine to turn

any ideas on that? and how bout those tires.. they seem remarkably cheap compared to the competition - they've gotta at least be worth a try i think

tires

down_hill_dog 04-25-2005 04:38 PM

they look decent.. i would say they'd be right on par with somthing like a falken ziex ze-512. These sumotommy tires have a high treadwear count, but if the price is right? it's worth a try. Check tiretrends.com they may have them aswell

edit* never mind tire trends must have dropped the summatoony line when 2005 rolled around.

Tchleung 04-25-2005 06:37 PM

Took off downpipe again and cut a slotinto it to bend and reweld for more clearence tomorrow. Also tookoff leaky oil return fitting on the turbo and put a gasket on it this time and reinstalled.

canadiansc2 04-25-2005 06:52 PM

I suppose I had a rough day at PYP. Did a few 'mods' to an Impulse Wagonback. Pulled the engine/tranny, wheels, speakers, door handles, power window switches, few emblems and other misc parts. Here is our work just after we had begun, and afterwards.

Then it's the same anyways:p

Removing them is different.

Tchleung 04-28-2005 10:28 PM

roughly tuned some partial throttle driving, and WOT boost driving up to 5psi. Still gotta workout alot of aprtial throttle areas and partial throttle in boost. But man oh man, even at 5psi right now, I can tell this is gonna be WAY faster then before lol.
