so has anyone tried the marine sushi yet? |
|
cool. |
I like Japone, Ajisai, and Octopus Garden for moderately-priced meals ($100 for 2). My friend had fish testicles at Japone. The chef prepared them especially for their table; I don't believe it's on the menu. I dare someone to ask for them the next time they're there! :D (I'm not quite so adventurous.) I like Samurai Restaurant on Davie for cheap sushi (perhaps $30 for 2). |
Fish testicles are in season now...'shirako' is the Japanese word for it. Japone was highly dissapointing for me when I went. |
^How so? I've had some pretty good meals there. I think the hot items can be a bit expensive though, considering the portion-size. The service is always great. |
The sushi I was served was not fresh. Tuna was at least 3 days old. Not happy. The kicker is they knew I am a sushi chef at a higher end restaurant. |
^where do you work, if you don't mind me asking? You can PM me if you want. |
^^^ At one of the places in my list on the first page. ;) |
^My guess is Yuji? |
^^^ Not anymore. I helped him out for 6 months, though. :) |
*cough* Bistro..... *cough**cough* hahahaha me and Senna used to work at Yuji's. :buttrock: My fav will always be Fuji. Japone is not consistant so i don't waste my money there. Its funny how Tojo's is still the "NUMBER 1" restaurant in Vancouver. I read it i think in th Georgia straight but ya the recent top 3 were Tojo's, Samurai Sushi, and Gyoza King ! WTF !!!! These guys are on crack! :twirleye: |

There is a tiny little place called Kilala near Hastings and Alpha on the same side of the street as the new McDonald's. The sushi there is pretty good. It is strictly sushi though... no gyoza and such. Run by real Japs... as opposed to fake ones. :flamemad: |
