Sister told me that the sushi did not taste that different from other places. Nothing special basically.

Sakae, which I've mentioned in this (or another Japanese food thread) closed on Jan 31. The lease is up on their downtown property and the owners decided to close up shop. :cry:

You can have a omakase at Sushi Dai for 3780 yen. Unfornately, that's about $50 at the current exchange rate but when I was there over the summer, it was around 100 yen = $1.

Well worth it. I actually think my bill the second time I went came closer to 12000 yen since I ordered quite a few more pieces of otoro.

Repeat this about 10 times, with each piece being 700 yen/$7.

One of the best meals I've ever had in my life and by far the best sushi. I haven't had sushi for awhile now except for some really good places in Vancouver.

recently tried tokyo joe in richmond, it's really good!! plus the price is cheap

Best sushi in town is EASILY Benkey Sushi in Aldergrove. I've never had anything even remotely close in my life.

Cheap too. cost $70 for three of us to eat until we could barely walk.

I don't see what's wrong or funny about what I wrote. Lots of sushi around here is crap, including all the AYCE places and the majority of the places were you get California rolls the size of your forearm.

went to Toshi's last night. 45min wait and the sushi was very good. one complaint is that they use powdered wasabi.... wtf



however, i would rather go Kura because 1. no wait 2. they have way more selection 3. real wasabi

Toshi's is good, but seriously it isn't worth the wait times. There are many other little japanese places like Toshi's with sushi that is just as good with little or no wait time.

The name escapes me, but the one near London Drugs on 41st and W. Blvd in the pedestrian walkthrough is pretty good. They have Asahi Black too :thumbsup:
