Big is not always better. I find the pieces at Samurai and sushi places in Richmond grotesquely big.

same. the quality is just...*bleah*.

I eat at Samurai Restaurant on Davie Street though. Cheap sushi, big pieces (though not quite as big as Sushi King or Samurai on Cambie) and the quality is much better.

Senna4ever: I'll be in (with my friend) on Friday. I will bring you a big piece of chocolate cake too, if you set aside some good stuff for us. ;)

It's a Chocolate Oblivion cake made with 75% Callebaut and 25% Scharffen-Berger, covered with white chocolate ganache. Would you like some raspberry coulis? ;)

That place is CRAP, brotherrr. If that's the best sushi that you've ever had then I don't know what to say, maaan. I just don't know what to say.

Ahhh Senna... you DO work at Sakana... Through all the dialogue and pictures you've posted up, Sakana was the place that I thought you would have worked at... so I was RIGHT! haha...

I've only been there 3 times though, and each time for lunch with a buddy of mine. I should try more things on the menu... but one thing I always got was the Mango/Salmon roll... hehe

I also went to Amarcord a few weeks ago and couldn't resist and ordered the Lobster Pasta.... my gf was bored of waiting for me to finish it all off... but it was good... but not as good as I thought it would be... I would still have to go with Cioppinos' Veal Cheek Papradelle as my fav

I agree with MrT, this place is good...also my Korean friends always rave about Sushi Town which is up the street close to some Mohawk gas station close to the Hastings Golf range...it's right beside a elementary school. I've been to another branch of this place which is located right across from Metro which is called Sushi Garden...it's pretty good too.

Ajisai is the shit! I go there quite often, its my neighborhood sushi join't. Hide is cool guy, hooks it up all the time.

Senna, I'll have to come in sometime to try your creations. I love trying new 'good' japanese places, theres too much shit in the city.

Yup, Ajisai is good.

Come on down!

I was in NYC for a few days and had lunch at Nobu, it was good, not great, his taretare's were amazing though. I think it was overpriced/overhyped. I can find equal or better quality stuff in vancouver. I really want to go to Morimoto now.

Senna4Ever: Not sure if you're the old(er) (compared to me... i'm 23) guy working at Sakana? I went down there after the auto-show and had a phenomenal meal with my friend. We talked cars the whole time with the sushi chef, and I had the best salmon sashimi ever!

Oh, and those yam tempura fries are AWESOME! will be in soon. take care

man they suck... the pieces are way too big. I guess they are just too damn lazy to cut the sashimi into smaller peices...or they expect you to eat the sashimi with a knife or something :/
Never going back again...

Neoxphuse 05-29-2005 09:08 PM

Anybody know any good sushi places in Surrey for a resonable price?
